- - I am still burned out. End of the year is a challenging one - so many things to do, so many deadlines to meet, so many celebrations and family gatherings to go through. Also the expectation of being your most productive, most joyful, most perfect self while dealing with so many things at the same time.
I took some time off and tried to find a few things that helped me with my struggles. Not gonna lie, it's been hectic and difficult with family visits, getting over a cold and work. But I think I found some things that help.

Yule log recipe (with some adjustments below):

My adjustments:
- I didn't make any hazelnut praline as I didn't have nuts at hand that day.
- I didn't separate eggs and just whisked them together with sugar until light and creamy (hence I also skipped on cream of tartar ingredient).
- Added 75g of flour instead of 50g as I found that 50g was too little.
- For the cream I substituted amaretto liqueur with the same amount of brandy.

I hope you enjoyed this (slightly random) video! I had this footage from a very cold, frosty and foggy December day which looked a little creepy and I didn't know where to use it... I thought I'd turn it into a little dark Christmas dream, especially seeing that it's Solstice today, for those interested in more ancient Yule traditions. 😊 Apart from this one cold foggy day, this December was mild and rainy. Not festive at all!

I always start reading The Dark is Rising on the 20, Midwinters eve ❤❤ and celebrate Christmas with my family!
😃👍 It was fantastic, Daria!! And I'm happy to see you are in top shape again, after that cold! 😉 😊 I'm from the North of Spain, and we do celebrate the Solstice where I live, as Saint Thomas Day. It is also a busy traditional Market Day, with yummy special typical foods! 😁Then, as the rest of the Country, we celebrate Christmas Eve 🌟🤶🎅, Christmas Day🎁🎄, New Year's Eve 🍇🥂🍾, New Year's Day🎉🎊 ☃️✨, and... Epiphany!! 👑 (With a very special cake, and the Three Maggi Kings coming on parade for a second round of gifts! 🎁) 😅 In fact, we don't take our Christmas decorations down (or cease frantic preparations and celebrations) until after January 6th!! I am feeling completely burnt out from the stress and anxiety of "making Christmas" as a mom. I feel like the only ppl who get to enjoy Xmas are kids and men.
Same here! I get SO overwhelmed because I feel like everything falls on me. I have to get everything done, no help. No wonder I don't enjoy it. 😒

Ask for help. If no one is helping you, then don't do it. You deserve to enjoy the holidays too! And people must help each other when a holiday is coming. It's like you spend some time together and everything is done much quickly. So, please, don't do all the work by yourself.
Plus, holidays are about joy and relaxation or even doing nothing, not about feeling exhausted or even missing the holidays because of this.

I thought I clicked on the wrong video and this was for Halloween. 😅 Very creative video. 👏🏾 I, too, have been feeling burnt out, and I wasn't feeling very festive this December.
I focused on minimal and simple decor. We still had a wonderful holiday, and I'm taking a few weeks off from my creative work to focus on resting and fun hobbies.

Personally, I don't celebrate Christmas but I can appreciate that some people can feel bogged down with stress or anxiety and feel pressured into the "I've got to do this"& "I must do that" way of thinking when the truth is, you really don't. Do as you please and don't make room for negativity and pressure from anybody else! Usually I work over Christmas but this year I will be home, I live alone with my furbabies in my cosy little home, although my parents and brother live close by, but I'm looking forward to just pleasing myself what I do, choosing to eat what I feel like on Christmas day - which could be anything (as long as it's vegan & cruelty free 😊) Ultimately you're own emotional and physical well-being is priority.

Hi, Daria! Brand new to your channel, as of today. Thank you for this video and talking about emotions! I’m a stay-at-home mom of an 8 month old and am 10 weeks pregnant with my husband and I’s second baby. I love my babies, but today has been an unusually hard day for me, with pregnancy hormones raging and my emotions all over the map. I was a psychology major in college, and I keep thinking to myself, “I should know what to do when I have all these varied emotions!” But that’s far from the truth. I still struggle, even though I know what I can do to try and process the emotions and calm myself. I found this video very calming today, and I truly appreciate it. Thank you! I found that I'm rather strongly affected by the feelings of those around me. But being sensitive has also the advantage, that I recover very fast and don't need much to do so. Just thinking about someone I care for and what he may like as a chrismas present already brought me joy. I try to establish habits (like journaling or such), but when I'm stressed, I find that skipping out on those not yet formed habits, calms me down. It reminds me, that I don't have to write or do much, if I'm not feeling like it. That little piece of imperfection takes away the pressure of "performing well" for me.
Anyway, if you feel overwhelmed, just take a look at what is necessary and what not. This helps me, whenever I feel stressed. And since I realize once more that a lot actions aren't truely necessary, I can use that time for something else instead.
Personally, I think it's fine to not be the most joyful during such a time. Feelings are feelings, and it's fine to feel the uncomfortable ones even if others wish you didn't.
