      You mean the reunion movie. I watched that as well. Im a huge Facts Of Life fan but the crazy part is I wasnt born until 1989. So this show actually came out before my time, I ended up watching the re-runs on TV land(they also did shows like "Charles In Charge" ... "Alf" ... "Silver Spoons" ... " Family Ties" ... "Growing Pains".. "Different Strokes" I also loved " Beverly Hills 90210" That was probably tied with Facts of Life for my fave show ever!!!!

      That's so strange for me to hear. As a kid, for me, it never was a "girl thing," to watch the show. All the boys and girls at school watched it and loved it. Glad I didn't have to hide the fact that I loved a great show.

    I remember when 'Natalie' (Mindy Cohn) would deliver her lines with the cute, huge-dimpled smile. And even though I knew she was literally cracking herself up, it somehow made her lines funnier because she WAS cracking herself up. Great show. Nice, sweet, charming, funny, and just a great show for teens growing up in the 70s and 80s.

    I love The Facts Of Life! I still watch that old show to this day. I forgot that Molly Ringwald was in the first season. All of the actresses on that show totally fitted their parts. My favorite character was Jo played by Nancy McKeon. I loved how she was not only a tomboy but that she had a tender heart and she was also funny and loveable at the same time. Like in season 2 when she arrives at the school as a new student she meets Blair and she says to her "Charmed Gloria Vanderbilt" that part cracks me up every time I watch it. Jo was one of those characters that I could honestly relate to in some ways.

    I remember the reunion movie and feeling so sad that Jo wasn’t there. If the Peacock streaming service was able to get all the girls back together for a Facts of Life reunion I’d be so happy. Even the first season girls could show up cause reunion shows are celebrations of the nostalgia and memories.

    • @nassauguy48
      @nassauguy48 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You will never see Molly Ringwald there. She was extremely bitter after being dropped from the show, and wasted no time rubbing it in when she became a big screen star. She was the only "lost girl" from Season 1 who did not attend the reunion episode in Season 8.

    • @Nightman221k
      @Nightman221k 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@nassauguy48 I wouldn't really mind, Molly wasn't a big enough Facts character for me to care about. If I were to do a remake I'd be satisfied with just getting the classic quartet of Natalie, Blair, Jo, and Tootie. But I gotta be honest, wonder if Molly Ringwald would feel that way still seeing as she's kind of lost her 80s star-power. The last thing I saw Molly in was the Jem live action movie; which, needless to say, was a long way from being a Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles.

    The character of Jo was somewhat a combination of Cindy and Sue Ann from Season 1. Cindy was a tomboy from a broken family, while Sue Ann was not from Manhattan and was an academic star. Both girls also stood up to Blair to a certain extent. Jo was also a tomboy, but did not actually play sports as did Cindy. Like Cindy, her parents were also divorced. Sue Ann was from Kansas, Jo from the Bronx. (Very different places, but neither was the Upper East Side of Manhattan). Like Sue Ann, Jo was academically gifted. And, of course, Jo was a tougher version of both girls.

Comparing how the series handled Blair's views of Cindy's tomboyness with Jo's butchness where it's not a big deal and it only disgusts Blair in a comedic way.

    Nancy's absence from the "interview" portions of this video is like a big void. For me, The Facts of Life (once the show evolved into the thing it would be known for: a fun and diverse foursome plus their guiding light in Mrs. Garrett) was so much about the wonderful dynamic between two _very_ different characters of Jo and Blair who are forced to live together during their formative/angsty/teen years ... and who eventually come to appreciate, understand, respect and love each other--- but still exchanging fun verbal barbs. Too bad McKeon wasn't here to reflect on what the show meant to her too.

      This series began in 1979. By then, race and color was not so much of a concern like in the 60's for example. As far as diversity, the show had it. There were hardly any shows back then that had pretty much an all female cast which was highly unusual for it's time. I do understand what your saying, but frankly I watch a tv show for the story and the characters involved. I don't notice or care who is what as far as race, color, sexual orientation, gender, whatever a cast is. This was not to sound harsh. Just some thoughts.

    The possibility respectful of the show Charlotte Rae is more spot light all seasons. Like more disloyalty of the characters together sister hood season one Nancy who played Felicia she’s got the first most laughs and everything Blair snobby selfish rich girlie girl suck up for any reason Blair with Charlotte Rae is going back in school. Kim Tootie as a kid beauty school more the youngest part of her. She was older mindy Natalie best friend and sparkly blue jokester. My opinion has been made molly is my favorite thing since secret life of the American teenager sue Anne tomboy out broke down family going sports Julia she’s more low down right down country side match maker friends. Season one I made this last one. Nancy Mckeon seaport tow is my favorite part of the group show jo is like drama comedy wait on it. I had this sitcom the longest one. It’s 80s it’s the year I am born in the 80s It’s brilliant comfortable emotional times good times get along Charlotte girls turned out well

      @@kristabrewer9363 In the later seasons, it was almost as if Season 1 never happened. The girls who were booted from the show made periodic appearances in 2 and 3, but they were mostly bitchy, and it was as if they had never been housemates and good friends to the other girls.

      Jo entered in Season 2, after they trimmed the show down. She was brought in the be a foil for Blair

    I didn't like season 1 I found it too cheesy and overall unfocused. There were too many characters that were very underdeveloped they gave a character one trait and that was it. I couldn't really relate to them, and only really talked about sex and silly stuff. I really loved season 2 by bringing Jo in and only 4 girls to focus on and they were memorable. The rest of the girls were bland and blended in TBH. Also I couldn't stand the laugh track, it's so phony and overused, sitcoms need to stop that. The audience isn't stupid ok we know when something is funny so we'll laugh so don't tell us when we're supposed to laugh because that's when you know it's not worth laughing at. But with TFOL I just love that they're real girls and not 25 year old models who can't act. I'm a teenager now and I have always gone to this show for help and advice for anything. I've been a fan since I was 7 and own the seasons on DVD. I love this show!!!!!!!😍😍😍😍

      The first season had potential, though the characters of Nancy and Molly were rather weak. Sue Ann and Cindy were the stronger characters among the four "lost girls", but they were too much alike, which explains why the character of Jo was molded in the second season as a combination of both. Julie Ann Haddock (Cindy) was the last of the girls to be fired, and she was definitely the best actress among the four. I read that the producers agonized about keeping or getting rid of her, but in the end, they went with a new character (Jo) who would be the same age as Blair and who was better able to stand up to her. They also wanted some innovation by introducing a character who was financially poor.

      Also, the laugh track muffled the characters at times.

      Some of the first season girls who got let go sporadically had guest spots on several episodes of the show throughout seasons 2,3 and a little bit of 4 so they wasn't fully completely forgotten about and discarded and im sure it was more of a contractual thing.

      I LOVED Season 1. There was so much real life issues in season 1 that they didn't have in any of the other seasons (at least not as many).

      The four of them got in trouble and they had to work off their punishment in the kitchen for Mrs. Garrett. That's how the focus turned to only them.
