20 peddle brake stomp is more use if there is an issue with eccentric shaft sensor (dirty sensor, replacement of sensor or engine rebuild) causing misfire or poor running
Hi my 2004 6-spd RX8 doesn't respond to the brake pedal technique. I just replaced the battery and apparently the ECU forgot everything? My Mazda mechanic told me I had to drive it 100 miles or so to remap it, that's going to be difficult to do in traffic, stalls at lights and the infamous numerous starting attempts to fire it back up. What do you recommend?
Sometimes it will take multiple driving cycles and multiple conditions of driving i've noticed to make it as good as it will be. This info may help you as I own a 2005 rx8 6 speed and it does sweep the oil gauge, however yours may be to old to actually do that. 2004-2008 Method 1. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position, but do not start engine. 2. Pump the brake pedal at least 20 times within 8 seconds after the ignition switch is turned ON. NOTE: Manual transmission equipped vehicles produced after VIN 40132647 and automatic transmission equipped vehicles produced after VIN 40132607 or vehicles with PCM updated to "L" calibration or later can confirm the clearing procedure was performed. If procedure was successful, the oil pressure gauge needle will move to right of center slightly (nearer H). Vehicles produced prior to these VIN's or vehicles without "L" calibration do not have an indicator to confirm the clearing procedure was performed.
@@FearTheKnife I had Neptune Speed conduct a compression check, Front rotor 45% compression, Rear rotor ZERO compression. Having a new factory engine installed, new coils, wires and spark plugs and new radiator too, Yoshi found a small leak in it this morning.
Yea that makes sense I found a 2005 Rx8 with only 38k miles and let me say from experience the ignition stock sucks, I checked the plugs just on a wim and found one of them solid black, I had a burned out coil even with only 38k on the motor, after buying 4 new coils and plugs ect the cat shortly after failed and gave a check engine light probably from accessive unburnt fuel. The most surprising thing is the car ran fine even with a bad plug and coil so it goes unnoticed fairly easy and can cause a lot of damage.
Also one last thing, I would find it unlikely that the rotor would have absolutely no compression as I'm sure one of the 3 faces would have something. And I would think the car wouldn't even run at all with some values like that. Hopefully everything turns out good for you and there not just running a train of repairs on you.
Might want to note that you shouldn't do this if you have a tune in your car as it will erase some of the tunes changes and can potentially be disasterous to the engine. Great for stock, deadly for tuned/FI ..

Just got the bad news, front rotor 45%, rear rotor 0% compression, my RX8, I'm the original owner, 2004 model year with 97,500 miles on the clock. $5500 parts & labor at Neptune Speed to replace with factory motor. Kids before you buy a RX8 be aware of this very probable possibility, it will need a motor at 100K miles.
Off subject but has anyone had any issues with the sunroof on the rx8? The last time my sunroof worked I tried closing it and it was stop and go until it finally closed. After that I could never get it to open or tilt up again. When I push the close I can hear the motor working but when I push open I get nothing at all. Any of this sound familiar? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Sooo did i understand right…? If it still dies on idle after all this, just try the reset again? Or only let it sit on idle for a 20minutes ? Also not sure if it will help in my case, my car is showing no errors, but keeps dying when dropping from above 2000 to idle in traffic. Thanks for any further help, or any response.

Does it restart after it stalls? Several things it could be, first thing to do is exactly what is described in the video, could be bad coils, plugs. fuel pump, cat or low compression
I am actually thinking of getting an RX 8 and I found a "Shinka" version but when I went to meet the guy he said I was running fine then just stopped while driving. After sitting a while I got to drive it and did a small lap around a parking lot and got to the middle of the temp gauge and never started again (normal or pop start) if anyone has an idea I would really love any input!!

DoDi DJ then if you did the brake pump correctly, I would suggest you clean your maf sensor on the intake tube. If that doesnt work, check if your ignition is older than 4 years. If yes, change it for a fresh one. Let me know :)
if your car has trouble idling, check your coilpacks BEFORE doing this or you will destroy your catalytic converter if you let your car idle for 20 minutes.

What if my car still dies after pushing in the clutch after doing this procedure
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing that info.
I’m struggling with the same thing! Any suggestions or did you get it fixed?
@@dennishyer4055 still haven’t fixed but found recently a short on a MAF connector, I think it was A and D which was in short. Try to measure continuity in your MAF concern
Thank you DBM
So much help my guy big thanks
So I sort of had the same problem. I disconnected my battery so I could take the radiator out. Put everything back together and it drove/idled fine for about 10 minutes but after that it would stall at idle and now it won’t turn back on. Not sure what the issue is. Please help!
Hello, you solved the problem?
Would this work for an '09?
Sure :)
How do you start a manual car with foot off the pedals ?
In neutral
Some cars have a clutch switch that lockout the starter some don't
What possible causes would cause an RX 82 star after it warms up starts fine no issues idles fine once it warms up it stalls
Does it restart after it stalls? Several things it could be, first thing to do is exactly what is described in the video, could be bad coils, plugs. fuel pump, cat or low compression
How did you start the car without pushing in the clutch!?
No need to push clutch to start an RX8 (not in the UK anyway) 😎
Oh.... Ok. In the states, we have to push the clutch to start the car. I momentarily thought because of the reset the system overrode the clutch.
Thank you soo much
You're welcome 😊
Does this work for the base model?
It should, yes
I am actually thinking of getting an RX 8 and I found a "Shinka" version but when I went to meet the guy he said I was running fine then just stopped while driving. After sitting a while I got to drive it and did a small lap around a parking lot and got to the middle of the temp gauge and never started again (normal or pop start) if anyone has an idea I would really love any input!!
Well, the causes could be low compression, or something else. Here's a video i made on exactly this topic: th-cam.com/video/sHDxvCb-FEY/w-d-xo.html&t Hope this helps :)
Love it man! Thank you so much for the help!!

Argh I love you man, my saviour.
I got my lights to go out but it still won't idle. Any ideas
Master of RX-8 plz help.
I did the 20 times pump and up to 50 times and didn’t work. My idle goes all the way to shut down the car if I turn the A/C on. Plz help.
My car is automatic trans.
DoDi DJ then if you did the brake pump correctly, I would suggest you clean your maf sensor on the intake tube. If that doesnt work, check if your ignition is older than 4 years. If yes, change it for a fresh one. Let me know :)
Driven by madness thanks. I will try that and let you know.
DoDi DJ great, good luck!
Thanks it really helped
Awesome. Thank you
Anti-theft pops up on code. No fuses burned, all are good. Car still does not start up. Help please.....

Mine went bad 😭 but got a new thou
Thanks buddy
Doesn’t work for me. 😢😢
I do that tip but when i turn my AC my rpms drops and starts shaking i have to give it a little gas so it wont stall any one knows why??
Try to do the ling reset as we discribe on our website but turn on all the electrical loads in the car. this may help
if your car has trouble idling, check your coilpacks BEFORE doing this or you will destroy your catalytic converter if you let your car idle for 20 minutes.
I’m going to try this...
Wheels change needed ASAP :p
Berry29tm wheels need sponsor ASAP 😄 I would change them immediately, but sadly what I want is not cheap 😜
You can't copy right a fix for an engine. Share away it won't hold it court lmao
Any intel on u1900 ?
Pas en français dommages
😮💨
The stupidest feature ever made, why is that necessary after pulling batter? If map really needs to be reset just reflash. Would adaptronics fix this issue?
No need for all that, the car will relearn the trims itself
I would think that as well, but how long should that take? The aforementioned 100 miles?
There is something you lying about and it’s the fact that you just started the 8 with no clutch press
