In this edition of True Hip-Hop Stories, Dana Dane takes us on a journey through Fort Green Projects and discusses what motivated him to write his classic recording "Cinderfella Dana Dane."
(Cinderfella) to me ,is by far one of the most Vivid songs i ever heard..The beat ,The lyrics,I wish he could have done a video for the song..If he would put out new album telling stories i would buy it... Thanks for the classic....
I'll be 53 next month, and this is STILL my jam. 🤪👍 I just rocked it out with my 23 year old daughter! I homeschooled her, and by golly, if she learned NOTHING else ... SHE WAS GONNA KNOW THIS SONG! 😂👍💃💃💞
I respect his honesty and the fact that he didn't allow where he grew up to stop him from achieving his dreams. Its funny that rappers who helped to make hip hop popular didn't make as much as today's artist but it wasn't all about money. They had a real love for the ART FORM KNOWN AS HIPHOP.
That’s true. Do you remember the other two members names? Cause it’s already common knowledge that everyone knows that Dana & Rick were in that crew.😉😉😉😉😉
i got so much love and respect for this man(Dana Dane) in March he sent me a shout out in mp3 for me to play at my daughters 4th birthday party..she was over the moon when she heard it,my daughter is a little bgirl..
Dana Dane with Fame was the first cassette tape I had purchased and I loved it. U can tell Dana Dane and Slick Rick grew up together. Similar styles and great strytelling abiilites. Im glad 2 see hes doin well. I know Slick Rick is really from England but him and Dana went 2 the same high school. Who cares if Dana bit off of slick rick or not. He still put out quality music and that I appreciate..
I didn't grow up in NY but when I watch these episodes it's like going home. They provide a connection to our Hip Hop roots. Thank you for making them and spreading love through music in CQ. #hiphopforever
Cinderfella by Dana Dane was, and still is, one of the best songs of my life. He was growing though the same stuff I was so it’s amazing to hear now. Still one of my favorite songs. Never knew he was D-Nice, wtf??!
I'm a hood honky from Southwest Philadelphia I grew up on this man's music I had three best friends and we were crew in order it was Raheem Kenyatta and Darnell and we stayed tight we didn't go nowhere without each other and I agree I grew up in the town gardens projects at 68th and Lindbergh I was the only white boy there! But the great thing about the hood is you were safe as long as you weren't a stranger and everybody knew me as the hood honky and I had my share some fights but I always felt safe in the hood cuz I belong there!
I was fourteen and I was soooooo.... In love with u.... MY wall in my room was covered in magaZine cut outs of you. Nice to see you doing good things...Hop-Hop artists these days are more like pop stars...Tragic.
He wasn't bitin' Slick Rick because they were ALL in the SAME crew at one point. That's like saying Busy Bone is bitin' Krazy Bone LOL!! C'mon man, y'all gotta do better than this..
@sykesregal you should understand that no ideas original slick rick might be the first but he must got it from somewhere too like dana dane did plus these guys were doing it when hip hop was still a baby they have developed the art of storytellin in hip hop and laid down the foundation for the next one to follow so what you need to do right now is show respect and appreciation
Slick Rick is actually British so he inherited his accent, that’s different from copying it.. but Dana Dane had lyrics and good songs so you couldn’t help but rock wit it.. also most ppl outside of NY (and many in NY I guess) probably didn’t know his was fake until after he had faded off the scene
Once Upon a Time Brooklyn was the same. In the projects that they call Fort Greene oh, they live the young man Cinderfella is his name hey mr. Charles forgot all about Dana Dane. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 mr. Charles didn't know who Dana was.
@blackadam06 actually wikipedia said he did intentionally tried to copy slick rick's british accent. so with all do respect he was sort of biting slick rick.
@blackadam06 actually bizzy has bit krayzie bone alot in bizzy bone rap battles bizzy has used krayzie bone verses to battle niggas in the past cus krayzie bone has killa flows peace
@blackadam06 actually, if you use common sense there would not be any need to verify anything. Slick Rick is British originally and he speaks with a British accent. Dana Dane is not British and he speaks with the same accent. I'm from NYC, nobody talks like them unless they can't help it (Rick) or they are doing it on purpose (Dana) kinda makes sense with or without Wikipedia. Normally you would be right about Wiki but common sense trumps it all.
@@firstnamelastname6193 this dude doesn't know what he's talking about it's not about where the rapper is from it's about how he's able to assimilate his flow into a style and if anyone did research they would know that Slick Rick was living in Brooklyn for over 10 years before he became an Emcee so he really didn't have a british accent it was more Americanised and if you listen to Slick Rick's older tracks you would clearly hear that he raps with his normal accent which is new york

i used to listen to this jam all the time as a teen and still know every word of it by heart
Dana Dane and Slick Rick used to be in the same group called the Kangol Crew.
That’s true. Do you remember the other two members names? Cause it’s already common knowledge that everyone knows that Dana & Rick were in that crew.😉😉😉😉😉
I wish they would have made Cinderfella Dana Dane into a movie!
