Fires in the Mirror, part two

This is the second part of Anna Deavere Smith's play, "Fires in the Mirror." Smith's dramatic technique is highly unusual. She interviews hundreds of citizens and community leaders, recording their words and then composing the play as a series of fragments from these interviews. She then memorizes their exact words and intonations and performs all of the roles in a one-woman show. "Fires in the Mirror" chronicles a civic disturbance in the racially divided neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn NYC, in August 1991.

Anyone criticizing her acting is ridiculous....She's super famous and successful.
She's a regular on Nurse Jackie and was in Rachel Getting Married, recurring in the West Wing....I could go on....her acting technique is well known and well regarded.

I don’t care for this type of theater especially but she is very talented. She even received the MacArthur genius grant back in the 90s after the play about the LA riots

@@jackzoom1433 Her skin tone in this lighting is such that I have no trouble believing that she is a Hasidic Jew or a young black man. Her skin color is rather ambiguous.
