      Terrific job! I think you got everything right except for the last 3 chords. I believe he starts on an 8th fret C MAJ7(C,B,E G) then plays an Fm7b5 (F,B,Eb,Ab) and then the C6 (C,G,E,A). The key here is the B string moving up one half step every time.
      (Of course I could be wrong. I missed out that high G7 on the 10th fret to the regular G7 bar chord 3rd fret that you showed because I didn't get to see the como video only Dick Clark and they hardly show what Johnny is playing on both videos. Plus he's way too low in the mix.

    One of my favorite songs. It's probably way to simple for you but I learned a lot from your video and you confirmed the chords for me. I like your explanations of the theory. There are probably a lot of versions of this song. I've studied the Tom Conlon and Damian Bacci versions on TH-cam. These have a few nice jazz chords to spice them up and the Damian version is quite different and even more jazzy but retains the original flavor. Thank you so much for posting. I subscribed to your channel because of these songs. I am a guitar player of about 50 years although I could not practice much before I retired from engineering! Engineering and music are my main interests. They both require complete immersion to develop competency.

    Terrific job! I think you got everything right except for the last 3 chords. I believe he starts on an 8th fret
    CMAJ7, (C-B-E-G) then he plays an Fm7b5, (F-B-Eb-Ab), then finally the C6 (C-G-E-A)
    The key here is the B string moving up one half step every time, from G to Ab to A.
    (Of course I could be wrong.) Unfortunately they hardly show what Johnny is playing on Dick Clark and Como. And Johnny is way too low in the mix.

    Thank you. I've watched a number of videos on this that shown me slightly different little things that helped me make more sense of it. When you explained Santo's part playing the G to Bb on the 2nd/3rd strings before the verse starts again was the one part I was really missing. Im also playing a maple neck sunburst strat!

    Awesome video, I like your vibe. One note: the high slide part is played by putting the slide on the third fret and doing an artificial harmonic in the 15th.

    • @kevinmbuck
      @kevinmbuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could look at it a few ways...maybe an easy way to think of it is just as a G Major Pentatonic Scale melody...(over the g7 it gives the sound of a G13 arpeggio...when the C major chord,l sounds, it gives the sound of an implied C major 7 chord.)

    What type of scale are you playing out of for that first lick you said you could add in over the (C7) chord at 31:18

    • @kevinmbuck
      @kevinmbuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was just playing random stuff over C7 lol...looks like the first bendy blues lick is a C Minor pent mixed with Major pent (Mixodorian)...then I played some C7b9 arpeggios (C#diminshed7th) then I played a whole tone sounding thing (C9b5b13)...but was just explaining that it is C7 chord, and you can play any Dominant Seventh licks that you want there etc.

    You’re not playing the lead refs. This is just all rhythm. That’s why I’ve become a finger style guitarist. I got sick of read them all the time. I put some pizzazz into my music. I’ve been playing finger style guitar for damn near 50 years I love it that’s the easiest way to ever play this song. But it sounds pretty cool anyway.😎😁🎸

    Too much talk……

    • @BryanClark-gk6ie
      @BryanClark-gk6ie 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I played in this one band' the lead singer..... front man would talk and talk....
      ramble on 5/6 minutes in-between songs' the audience would get irritated/bored.... the rest of the band would do the same.... me....
      I'd get irritated and pissed off so I'd start playing theme songs from tv shows' Green Acres/Bonanza, etc and such.... the rest of the band would join in.... the audience would livin up and he'd just stand there sulking....all the sudden I'd kick off a song trying to force him into shutting up and just sing the song.... it'd catch him off guard and most of the times he'd come in late with his vocals. On fill ins and lead breaks I'd sneak in/blend in small parts of theme songs' finally one night.... I guess I'd embarrassed him enough and on a lead break he looks over at me and says.... I'm tired of your BS, after the night' YOU'RE OUTTA HERE.
      I didn't see or talk to him 10 years after that until all the sudden he calls me up and says
      Let's let by gones be gone' What do you think about getting the band back together and playing some' So I said yeah' that'd be good to get to see everybody again...Ok Saturday night it is.
      About 15 minutes before I was getting ready to leave and we were to get together, His wife calls me up and says.... Rustys gone, so I'm thinking he's gone out to grab some beer and he'd be back in a minute or so.... so I said that's fine' tell him I'll see him in a bit' She says' no he's gone for good' He fell and hit his head and died last night.
      Anyways we were on good terms when he passed.
