I actually played this game on PC. It’s not perfect: very short and the story is generic but the gameplay is quite fun!

I've already pre-ordered it yesterday, looking forward to it. The length doesn't bother me as I'll no doubt replay and just getting better on the harder difficulties 🙏🏼

Given what a graphical showcase this was on PC, it blows my mind to see this game looking and running as well as it does here, not least with all those extra graphics options. Hopefully the control customisation can help me overcome my usually awful experiences of playing FPS games on Switch, too. Kudos to the devs on this one, this really is how it’s done.
This is a very boutique game, you play it to experience the production value, quality and polish delivered by such a small team. It may be a 3 hour game tops, but it's also a AAA shooter delivered by an indie team, and the fact that it seems to run so well on Switch is nothing short of a technical marvel. Its a game definitely worth checking out, sale or not.
The fact that this runs on Switch with so my QOL options is incredible! I'll definitely support the dev on this one on Switch and PS5. Here's hoping for a broader experience in the future. Great work as always! 🤘🏼
I’m a huge fps fan. Gyro makes an incredible difference. I will actually prioritize the Switch copy of multi platform releases just for gyro controls.

Maybe the “last enemy popping up that you kill to move on” is the game respawning the last enemy you have missed into closer proximity to save you having the tedious hunt around the map to find them. Anyone know if this is the case?

If three hours is too short, play it again. That's what people used to do when a game was fun and they hadn't had their fill after the first playthrough.

There are a bunch of FPSs out, but even though this looks like a shorter game than most of them, the addition of the parry mechanic (not something I've seen before in a FPS) is really interesting, and I'm always about supporting small / indie developers and publishers!
It's just refreshing to have a game that I've been quietly looking forward to releasing and it not being a buggy mess. I loved red steel/2 despite their flaws so will definitely pick this up! Thanks for the great review as always!

Maybe no multiplayer shouldn't be a negative but including it should be a positive.

Was waiting for this game ever since the Switch port was announced but was worried it would run and look really bad. Fortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Game still looks pretty good and it runs at a steady 30 FPS which is fine in my books.
I loved the original bright memory it was amazing, can't wait to try this

This game looks incredible and to be honest I kind of want this for that reason alone. I do agree about the price, unfortunately I will be waiting for a sale on this one. Hopefully they could add to it and put in multiplayer or at least some kind of horde mode in the future.
I'm buying it. Great efforts need to be rewarded. Sure no real replayability or no multiplayer but if you want change you have to support change.
The change I'm supporting here is great effort.

Yes! Thank you for this review, I was expecting the game to be a good port and I think I will buy it, the Gold part is maybe just because they added the costumes or something but anyways the gameplay looks excellent. Hopefully they add something in the future to justify the price as well as TMNT Shredder's Revenge 👌🏻
Thanks for the review guys. Have been wondering how well this played on the switch and was hoping you would review this as I can't decide to get on steam or switch. Price wise, here in Australia I believe the switch version is the cheaper option. As always though, great review.
This game definitely gives me the Red Steel 2 vibes when you switch so conveniently from melee and shooting and the fact that both games have nice motion control. Another reason why I wish Bright Memory to be a longer game. With enough resources to expand contents, this would have been some of the most memorable indies on Switch just like how Red Steel series is to Wii.

From gameplay videos alone it reminds me more of Bulletstorm with a twist (the twist being in the forms of parry system, stamina system, enemies and the melee weapon the main character uses) than any other game released in recent memory, specially the combat system, which is not a bad thing on itself but theres always caveats when using that formula, in this game’s case it seems like length and probably replay-ability was the compromise.

Wii games have "inaspectable" issues on switch, switch sensors are obviously better but the configurations are different.

The combination of gunplay and swordplay and the more arena based structure reminds me a lot of the excellent Red Steel 2 on Wii.

I didn't know that game was on Switch as well. I got it for 9 $CAD by buying Bright Memory before Infinite release. I might buy it on Switch as well to play it on the go :D

It's a sad day when a game having text size options is something we need to praise. These things (like remapping buttons and colorblind mode) should be industry standard!
Oh my, as a fan of dual wielding guns and blades in games like Red Steel 2 on Wii and even enjoyed sections of Devils Third on WiiU, this is right up my alley. But while it looks like a a lot of fun, I have to agree with the comments about pricing ... for 2-3 hours and not much replayability I'd certainly consider it for a tenner, but the launch price is just a bit too high for me right now.
To the backlog you go!
This fits into my "tired dad at the end of a long day" routine perfectly.

This game is amazing. Looks amazing, plays amazing. I'm really kinda surprised and happy at how well they made the game for the Switch. Also don't really understand the "on rails" reference. There little quick time stuff like in the beginning, but nothing in this game was on rails. It is very linear though, which I don't mind.
I love that you often detail gyro aim in Switch games, I'm a huge fan of gyro and it made so many games like Wolfenstein, Doom/Eternal, Saint's Row3/4, Immortals Fenyx rising, and even the pretty lame GTA Trilogy, to name a few, SO much easier, or rather more natural, than on consoles imo

I would not consider crysis a sandbox environment. It's linear with a wide path maybe.
Having played this on PC this really does look amazing on the Switch.
I've heard people describe this game as a Soulslike FPS and honestly that's a pretty solid description.

Pretending it is a switch game now instead of being a technically impressive current gen game is incredibly stupid. It's still a technically impressive current gen/PC game but was also downgraded to be put on switch. Its not like it was going to be one and is now the other.
