    Two comments: Angelina is the best interpreter of lyrics I’ve ever heard. While she’s singing so beautifully, she makes us understand every word, every syllable of lyrics in a way that other singers never tried to do. The song has an entirely different meaning from the Elvis version.
    Secondly, I’ve heard dozens of reactors say what you did: has Angelina decided she’s no longer going to sing barefoot? No, that opening shot with the boots is Angelina playing a little joke on us because she knows every one of her fans asked themselves that same question when the video began.
    This video is stunning musically, vocally, and aesthetically.

      Plays guitar and piano Christopher, never any evidence or video of her playing any other instrument. She speaks, Norwegian, English, some Japanese and some Farsi, no evidence of any other languages....she did sing a song on TikTok in Spanish, first try at that, but never seen any other languages from her, seen every video and interview she has ever done in over 7 years following her. Lot of this stuff is not true, unfortunately.

    Oh, forgot to say, it was another person that wrote this song, not Elvis. The original artist and songwriter was Mark James, who wrote the song and is about a mistrusting and dysfunctional relationship, and the need of the characters to overcome their issues in order to maintain it....

    Rob Christie hits that big note on the piano and Angelina comes in with unmatched power and a smooth velvety performance that captures you from that 1st note and doesn't let you go till the last note. You finally got to my all time favorite performance of Angelina. Her journey through her early childhood thru today is depicted by her little cousins and sister Juliette. The tribute to Elvis with the black leather jumpsuit, the hair a nod to Priscilla Presley and the Guitar he used in his 68 comeback special. Pure power. To me is the most beautiful rendition of this song and much better than Elvis version. 🔥🔥🔥♥👣

  • @rw716
    @rw716 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery in L.A.) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. What a performance and homage to Elvis! King of Pop or King of Rock N Roll? Um yeah, I can kind of see the confusion! LOL

    The dude is Rob Christie best producer she works with. He's dressed like the Jordanairs who backed Elvis. Hair, leather and guitar all a tribute to Elvis. Even the doorbell ring is in same key the song starts in. Genius

    Thank you for returning to Angelina. Your reactions to her performances are always worth watching.
    The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
    Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song.
    The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family.
    Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

    That’s why she’s known as the girl with a thousand voices. She has this fantastic voice that you recognize, but she changes it depending on the song, from the lowest lows to the highest highs, and I still think we’re several years away from her having her voice change and become more settled when she’s around 21-24, and of course it’ll continue to change throughout her life as well. She just add things or takes away with the different tools in her proverbial music toolbox, which seems to be getting bigger and bigger every year she’s been singing. That even goes back to when she started on television with "Gloomy Sunday" and her little wobbly vibratos, which I remember you hearing, and yes, looking at your playlist, you really need to hear the rest of the 4-song set, even if it’s on your own away from this channel, "I’m A Fool To Want You, "Bang Bang, and Summertime, on NGT, as she is a total prodigy and it’s amazing at the speed at which she learns and processes everything, and this was when she was 7/8. Her voice was spectacular before then as well. If you decide on doing the songs on video, you could put all of the last three songs on one video; they’re all short enough, but those few minutes where she sings are just magical. With each additional song, she just seems to get better and better. ❤

    Two time Grammy award winning pianist, Rob Christie wrote the musical arrangement and Angelina put her magic touch on the vocal arrangement.
    In the opening credits you saw that the executive producer is Mery Zamani. Mery is Angelina’s grandma. The two youngest girls are Angelina’s cousins. They are her uncle Michael’s daughters. Michael is also Angelina’s manager. The middle school aged girl is Angelina’s sister, Juliette.

    At 16. Released June 22, 2022. By August, 2023, 4.6 Million views on TH-cam alone. Angelina starts off with the bridge, completely different from anyone else; and then, begins with the opening line of the song. Her beehive hairdo, is in the homage to Priscilla...many photographs of her hair exactly like that. And a leather outfit he later wore. The guitar is the Elvis 1968 "Comeback" Guitar. Rob Christie actually owns this one. The two young cousins, are Uncle/Manager Michael's children. The young girl is her sister, Juliette. Angelina had a framed photo of Elvis in the Service, at the location. Such respect. Rob Christie is on the piano. (Currently Republic Records award winning Studio Director) Angelina is both Director & Producer on this!😇🌺

    The pianist Rob Christie (music studio director of Republic Records distribution of UMG, two-time Grammy winner) changed the musical arrangement and Angelina changed the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyrical structure starting with the bridge and gives the song a different meaning than Felton Jarvis and Mark James , Angelina version absolutely fits the lyric better. Once again, many people don't hear and understand the song until Angelina tells the story. 👣 💯 *AJ* 💯👣
    The producer Felton Jarvis from Elvis Presley cleverly covered this *Mark James song from 1968 in 1969* , Elvis' last #1 hit in the US and #7 of his most successful songs. Felton Jarvis took the original country arrangement completely from Mark James and pushed the song with more speed and additional instruments (wind instruments, violin etc.) and a spectacular backing choir (in the studio version).

    She's been surprising me for over 5 years now with no sign of stopping. This interpretation is much more fitting to the lyrics that Mark James wrote about a failed marriage based on suspicions & lack of trust. Elvis made it an up-beat rock & roll song that was his last #1 hit, but to me, it doesn't really match the lyrics.

  • @andyschnell58
    @andyschnell58 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Angelina, once again has blessed us with her interpretation of a classic song. In my opinion, her version suits the lyrics far better than the original by Mark James and the version by Elvis. The version by Elvis is fun and I will continue to enjoy it when in the proper mood.

    -------- Sorry, but no one has done a better version than Elvis' 1969 Studio Version. it stands alone. Very complex & intricate in the instrumentation as well as vocals. Many fans will point to his 1970 Live Version, BUT that's only because of his "moves" on stage.
    I don't believe even Elvis has ever outdone his own original 69 version of that song. He reached #1 in 1969 with it. Do yourselves a favor and check it out (along with other original songs) from his "30 #1 Hits" CD.
