The punch up on The Midday Show will always go down in history. And Graham Kennedy with that naughty crow call, oh the memories 😅

Being from the the USA, it’s cool seeing televised history from different countries. Taking away the US programs, Virtually everything from this program was all new to me.

They said Aussie Tv was 40yrs old then, so did it start in 1956? That's I think 7yrs after the USA.

43:58 "Sale Of The Century" (originating out of Station GTV-Melbourne) is a direct descendant of "Temptation" and "Great Temptation"(originating out of Station ATN-Sydney) which ran from 1970 to 1973 all up.

Australia's first station was *STATION TCN-SYDNEY* which could've been allocated *ANY ONE* of the then-10 VHF channels available before VHF Ch,0,5a and 11 were created to handle the overflow of licence applications in successive years. Station TCN could've just as easily been given Ch.1, 2, 3 or even Ch.4 to transmit on. This shows that the channel number is of *ZERO* importance as it is nothing more than an ethereal 7-megahertz wide chunk of the VHF band with *no physical presence* beyond the electronics in the TV set's own tuner circuitry.

@neilforbes416 Individual television stations are usually granted licenses by a government agency to use a particular section of the radio spectrum (a channel) through which they send their signals.

    • @Mediawatcher2023

@neilforbes416 The Australian Government restricted regional television broadcasting to one commercial service and a repeater station of the national broadcaster from the capital city ABC station. Regional television stations tended to be allocated to VHF 6, 8 or in some cases 10.
