I really like that instead of focusing on making mistakes, you view them as learning experiences. That's a great attitude, and we see the fruits of it time and time again on your channel. You also don't let fear hold you back from tackling new projects. It's normal to have fear when doing something new, but you continue to forge ahead. You take the time to do the research and the Math ahead of time, and then do the best you can with the data, making changes along the way as necessary. Job well done!

One thing that this channel highlights is the importance of choosing one’s spouse carefully! You share a lot of interests, goals, work-ethic and a sense of adventure - all of which make you an amazing team! A marriage can work well without those things in common, but it needs the ability to compromise, and rarely can you do something as radical as living in an off-grid cabin in Alaska. May the Lord bless you with many long years of adventuring together. 🥰
Oh my goodness... All your HARD work will pay off. This reminds me of the time my dad decided to dig out under our house so we could have a basement. The house was built in 1889, so one summer (40 years ago) we adult kids came home to help him. It was a hard job but we learned so much and it turned out great. It was his workshop and also a root cellar. 😁
One item you might reconsider - the wood form beneath the drain will rot out over time. The way it is built, the drain frame will fall downward if there is rot or too much load is placed on it. Concrete should support the drain frame. I've done this hundreds of times> Build a wood form that fits loosely inside the metal frame. Drive a few nails around the perimeter of the form to support the metal frame at the correct height while pouring the concrete. After the concrete sets up, the wood form can be removed and the exposed nails can be cut off flush to the concrete. I think you put the vapor barrier in the correct place, on the bottom.
Really looking forward to the next video, and of the many channels that I am subscribed none captures and holds my attention the way that yours does and has consistently done from day one. My next door neighbor just found a baby duck swimming in his pool and took it to our lake and hopefully to be reunited with mom and brother and sisters.💕💕💕🐾🐾🐓. You guys are the best!❤️❤️
For future reference, you can put your stakes a few feet past the corners , and let your strings cross each other, make you'll just need 2 stakes for each corner, just hold them out far enough from the sides to you can get your tractor in to dig, then all you have to do is put your strings back up to check you work and square your forms up. Since you're not below the frost grade, be aware to allow for the concrete heaving and dropping, when you run your electric and water line so they don't get damaged when things go up and down.
I am always amazed by you two. You get so much done on projects most people won't even know how to start. Not sure when you plan to pour concrete, but if you read this before pouring think about putting a piece of heavy chain in each corner. It will allow you to anchor you building. Kind of belt and suspenders. Be safe.. Till next time.

The amount of time and effort both of you have put forth is phenomenal.....When all the peripheral buildings and additional site prep is done it won't surprise me if you crank up the sawmill and build a log cabin in the neighborhood of 1200 sq, ft. from the timber you have on site.....Just saying....LOL!!🐾🐝😎
The two of you amaze me with every video you put out. I just can't believe all the things you do. That tractor sure has come in handy. I know you know how much money it has saved you with all the work you can do by yourselves. I miss the old place, but the new space is a lot bigger. By the way, the baby chicks are so adorable. Thanks for sharing!
I honestly believe you two are the hardest workers I know of!! You are such a great team!! You never fail to impress!! (Arielle, NO labor in birkenstocks, especially with tractors and metal shovels!)
You can use some of those bigger rocks to prop up rebar or your mesh and use rocks to take up space in your pour. It will save some concrete yardage. As long as the rocks have 2" of concrete above.
I had to chuckle when you said upper 70 was blazing. It is 100* with a heat index of 116* here in Pasadena, Texas. 🥵 We would love to have highs of 70-80*. ❤️😄 Awesome video. The shop is going to be so great! 👍🏻❤️

I know it was a lot of hard work putting this video together, plus concentrate on your measurements for the floor. Just wanted to let you both know we appreciate you! Thank you!❤
Another EPIC, EPIC project!! Plus of course the footage of the the animals, looks like they're doing well. The Branson looks to be the No.1 investment, it has achieved so much for you. Now.....have a couple days rest, you both deserve it!
You two are getting so good at this, you could start a business and help other Alaskans plot out their foundation footers. And you could teach a class in the workshop when you get it finished! The potential is tremendous, and we youtube viewers appreciate people who take the time to research their work, in order to do quality work in their projects. Thank you for sharing another excellent video !!
Looking great you two! That’s going to be an awesome shop! 2 things: 1) bring that poly all the way through the bottom of your footer and up the sides and seal it off. 2) as best you can, insulate the bottom of your footer and if possible tie it in to your floor insulation. The cold will radiate up through ANYTHING that isn’t insulated and suck the life out of your radiant heat run. Your outside run of PEX will be most susceptible to cold exposure and kill efficiency. Insulate and seal EVERYTHING inside the forms! You will thank yourself later when there’s no cold spots! Keep on rockin’! You’re doing it!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing progress, beautiful animals, both tame & wild! Thanks for sharing your perseverance, strength & endurance! You’re amazing young people! Have a great week! 🤗🇨🇦
Tip for your string lines, place the stakes/hurdles for the strings well away from the slab area, the strings will all intersect exactly where you need them but they won't be in your way when you excavate, and you can retie the strings when setting out the formwork or walls.
When I saw the load of pieces being hauled last winter I thought Wow big job. Now that the forms are down, it shows how BIG big is ! Please take great care, don’t get hurt. Cheers from b.c.
So nice to see Bo. It is amazing how you both work together.Something you will be enjoying for a long time. You both should be proud of yourselves on the work you accomplish. Love to watch your videos.
Awesome job with the slab foundation! I'd be with you, poly down first, then insulation boards, and you saw why with the condensation. It'd be a good idea to put grade stakes in the pad, to help pour the concrete to the specific height. Also, as you're pouring the footer, to prevent blow out, Ariel can be backfilling the outside, as you're pouring the inside. One force pushing in, one force pushing out, equalization. Good luck! Love ya'll ❤😊
Wow! You all are one of the hardest working couples I know! I can't wait to see what the shop looks like! I've never seen one, and it's hard to picture in my head! Those baby chicks are so cute! The chicken coop is a good size for the momma's & their babies! Y'all take care of yourselves! 💜🙏🐣
I like the fact that when you guys take on a job no matter how small or how big that job may be, you don't cut corners you do the job properly the 1st time around. Even if that job takes you hours to get everything just right you do it, I mean just look at the chicken shed that is just a great example of the work and standards that you work at. I know things are very different because of the weather conditions where you live so you need to do things along differently than say those people living in Florida. I am very impressed by the jobs you take on by yourself.
Omg it's a good thing you two are still young with all the shoveling, tapping, adjusting I also like how you explain what your doing and I'm exhausted just watching you two . Can't wait to see what your shop looks like never seen one. Simple Life goes rogue good one Eric 😂. Blessings to you both. 😊🇺🇲

I like to pay you guys a compliment It's an incredible thing to watch you both it as a married couple-team work together and progress and make a difference improving your landscape home environment and obviously growing together not just memories but literally bonding It might be an overstretched to compliment but as a single I truly look forward to marriage life but you guys as I watch these videos see such teamwork and such endurance and determination to get through all the obstacles but you do it together And yes I understand completely the videos edited sometimes we have to throw a shovel and our own frustration it's part of life and maybe we don't see it on this end but I'll say this You guys are an incredible inspiration and tremendous example to me as a single looking forward to married life One major factor that you guys have as less obstacles and less distractions is that you're more or less depending upon nature and God for your substance in for your provision as well as being smart with the TH-cam income but as a married couple you don't have the as much as The Temptations of inner city life the corrupt easy distractions that quickly like a spiderweb affect the city life which is horribly destroying my mojo right now So I really appreciate watching your videos because it gives hope that we humans can restore respect and Build Together his team It's I tell you for certain so much easier in a small town or a small isolated area to focus because it's just hugely a distraction being in the city I live in the center part of town and love being in San Diego it's beautiful-I have a an apartment but I realize I can't treat this as a home as much anymore because it's something that I should just rent out and then get out to a new location and make the transition to a smaller less distracting more focused back2basics type of environment home animals of course there's love sure a lot of things that you have to do to protect yourself different than you do in the city so there's a lot to learn if I go back out to Nature Until they're not that opportunity arrives I thank you guys for putting on these videos it gives believe me a lot more hope and encouragement to see people working together determined to succeed and still love each other and this example I think doesn't get brought out because most people look at it as just a building phase or building video or how to run a business or a farm or a piece of property no not true I'm looking at it from the marriage through all the frustrations the anger the setbacks the lack of Mobility the weather just all of it combined you both are a great example of determination- grit and more than you know setting an amazing standard just doing the basics and never letting each other down and loyal love for each other regardless of the pain sorrow or disappointments of life I've been watching you guys for a few years now so it's not just this video and still obviously not just love each other but more so than ever before but how you both really have it all in a covid world so thank you for what you do
I so look forward to your posts. I’ve learned a lot right along with y’all. If I were younger (71 now), I’d move to Alaska. I have visited there and fell in love with it. The endless beauty - well it speaks for itself. God bless and keep those videos coming.

Lumnah Acres ~ Pouring the same thing ~ Same dimensions ~ Northern NH ~ Right now! ~ Not gonna lie. 🙏
@@stevenwarner7348 Lumnah is pouring a 40' x 40' and is not going to be a Quonset hut.
If you are putting your poly down first You should blind the site with sand to prevent puncturing. whoops too late !
@@alanesterline2310 Ohhh. I guess I was wrong. Sorry about that.
Watching you guys create your own workshop makes for great entertainment. Thank for inviting us to come along and watch.
I can’t get enough of your videos! Great team work and so proud! And, don’t let me forget, those baby chicks. So adorable! ❤
All i can think of to say is that you both are
doing a really great job and Thank You for
your great videos Thank You.😊😊
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You’re doing it!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Looks like a lot of work😅. Amazing potential though. Thank you for taking the time to film and edit your adventures.
You guys are true rock stars. I talk about you two all the time. Great job on the shop floor and footers🌷🇨🇦
I vote for a channel name change, Hard working life Alaska. I have been viewing you guys for 3_4 years and love your content. Keep on chugging!😂
Hope you guys celebrate with a HUGE feast after the completion of this massive project. My gosh what an undertaking! ☮️ on 🌍
I love seeing all the mama and baby critters! Y'all are amazing!
I applaud your tedious work! We all know your work site supervisor is the real brains behind the operation😉
You both have been so awesome in your life in Alaska with all the things that go on the Channel is always good stuff.
I don't normally comment on DIY's but you made the right decision to put the vapor barrier down first.
I just started the video but that gravel pit will be perfect I think for your Root cellar
If you think about it having concrete in direct contact with the foam is fine since that's the same thing you would be doing with ICF forms.
Thanks for bringing me along for your journey. I am a 74-year-old shut in and I have never been to Alaska but have always wanted to go. With your videos I am able to visit Alaska and watch your progress. I LOVE your videos.!
71, & DITTO! Love the beautiful videos & the way they WORK & get along so well. Great couple!!! 🙏🏻💞🙏🏻🫶🏻
We just appreciate both you and Eric for the time you both spend filming, working, editing to give us all the dream some of us wish we could have. We have enjoyed following you both on this epic journey, and keeping you in prayer for you safety during all your difficult projects, and enjoying the pleasant attitudes and learning as you go information. You’re abilities are endless. Don’t let anything stand in your way. You both are so talented, compliment each others strengths and weaknesses. The best recipe to success. Faithfully following, can’t wait for the next video. Cheryl and Bob from Michigan.
This comment is so sweet and thoughtful and true!
I'm NEVER ready for your videos to end. I love watching your thinking and your work. I would watch every day!!!!
You can even weight that drag down if you need to. You know like after mud season is over. 😜 After you get finished with the gravel pit you’ll be able to put in a swimming pool!😆
Awwww, the chicks are so precious!! Glad they're doing so well - loved the dust bath part!! Well, got pretty tired just watching you two, but seeing the amount of precision and hard work going into everything, I can tell that building is going to serve you for years! Way to go!! 👍 Hugs to you both and the fur babies, stay safe, be happy❤
cant wait to see the concrete pour big area you two are always busy busy busy nice to see how laid back the bandit is
I like to pay you guys a compliment
It's an incredible thing to watch you both it as a married couple-team work together and progress and make a difference improving your landscape home environment and obviously growing together not just memories but literally bonding
It might be an overstretched to compliment but as a single I truly look forward to marriage life but you guys as I watch these videos see such teamwork and such endurance and determination to get through all the obstacles but you do it together
And yes I understand completely the videos edited sometimes we have to throw a shovel and our own frustration it's part of life and maybe we don't see it on this end
but I'll say this
You guys are an incredible inspiration and tremendous example to me as a single looking forward to married life
One major factor that you guys have as less obstacles and less distractions is that you're more or less depending upon nature and God for your substance
in for your provision as well as being smart with the TH-cam income
but as a married couple you don't have the as much as The Temptations of inner city life the corrupt easy distractions that quickly like a spiderweb affect the city life which is horribly destroying my mojo right now
So I really appreciate watching your videos because it gives hope that we humans can restore respect and Build Together his team
It's I tell you for certain so much easier in a small town or a small isolated area to focus because it's just hugely a distraction being in the city
I live in the center part of town and love being in San Diego it's beautiful-I have a an apartment but I realize I can't treat this as a home as much anymore because it's something that I should just rent out and then get out to a new location and make the transition to a smaller less distracting more focused back2basics type of environment home animals
of course there's love sure a lot of things that you have to do to protect yourself different than you do in the city so there's a lot to learn if I go back out to Nature
Until they're not that opportunity arrives I thank you guys for putting on these videos it gives believe me a lot more hope and encouragement to see people working together determined to succeed and still love each other and this example
I think doesn't get brought out because most people look at it as just a building phase or building video or how to run a business or a farm or a piece of property no not true I'm looking at it from the marriage through all the frustrations the anger the setbacks the lack of Mobility the weather just all of it combined you both are a great example of determination- grit and more than you know setting an amazing standard just doing the basics and never letting each other down and loyal love for each other regardless of the pain sorrow or disappointments of life
I've been watching you guys for a few years now so it's not just this video
and still obviously not just love each other but more so than ever before but how you both really have it all in a covid world
so thank you for what you do
Been binge watching your episodes! So happy a new one is out!!🎉
I so look forward to your posts. I’ve learned a lot right along with y’all. If I were younger (71 now), I’d move to Alaska. I have visited there and fell in love with it. The endless beauty - well it speaks for itself. God bless and keep those videos coming.
Gravel is what all gold miners are looking for when prospecting for gold. Are you in an area know for gold? And would a video panning out looking for gold a possibility in the future?
Hello, you guys are the hardest working people. Love how the layout is looking. Glad you have the tractor to help with some of the work. Love all the baby chicks. They are the cutest. Take care
