Saaaaammmmme. It’s honestly really upsetting as someone who does love the original vocals by Lily(and honestly prefer the original Close to you then the Kyaami cover. The original just has this “trying to stay calm yet wavering but it hurts” feel to it, and while I do like Kyaami’s cover and how emotional it is because of her tuning of VFlower, I find the original’s sound more relatable at how quiet and intimate it is). It really comes down to preference in tuning, and get why people love the realistic tuning of the covers of niki’s songs, but honestly being in the cover scene and seeing realistic tuning being so widely used, I’ve basically become quite used to hearing that way of tuning so I’m not as wowed by it anymore. I just wish for more people to embrace the robotic sound of Vocaloid more considering that was always meant to be the “original sound” of Vocaloid. Not to say I dislike realistic tuning, I love them too and at times prefer some of the covers over the originals, but you tend to see why so many people are drawn towards those covers because of said realism, and I just wish people could appreciate the more robotic qualities Vocaloid(and to the same extent Utauloid) brings to the table when being used for songs. It’s one of the reasons why I’m really not a fan of Ritsu’s AI VB. I prefer his UTAU VB much more in sound because of its robotic uniqueness of his voice.

-ERROR's story as a Ritsu cover is very fascinating. -ERROR was a somewhat popular but relatively obscure niki song (in the west at least, back then Lily was considered out of people's tastes as the fanbase wasn't mature enough to collectively appreciate the voice more than the design, not to mention she was pretty difficult to sound good due to all of her glitches). Namine Ritsu had just gotten the Kire voicebank that made him sound like a Vocaloid with the correct tuning, and damn did Cillia nail it. Not only did niki become a staple of covers in the west after it (you KNEW that any new vocaloid would get an ERROR cover within the first days of release), Cillia was declared a Ritsu master on NND, she collaborated with the pixiv illustrator of the picture she used for a companion illustration for +REVERSE, her cover was released as a single for KarenT, she collaborated with Canon (Ritsu's voicer) multiple times, and her UTAU OC was elevated to near proffessional levels of design and recording quality due to her collabs with Canon and the pixiv illustrator. Her tuning work even got her to work for Yamaha at one point for Vocaloid demos and tuning tutorials, visiting Japan for livestreams and nico lives. This stuff was wild and an amazing achievement for an overseas user.
Kyaami loved niki’s songs and really wanted to bring them over to have more people hear niki’s music, so she made covers to spread the word. Not just -ERROR, but Niki’s songs in general afterwards are a huge staple in the cover Artist community because of Kyaami; there are so just many covers of Niki’s songs, it’s _staggering._ Kyaami paved the way for that because she continued to cover many of niki’s songs afterwards like FLARE, FIRST, and JITTER DOLL, even collaborated with niki creating SILENCE using Avanna and made the awesome cover of Shadow Haze Variation using Meiko. As cool as this all is though, admittedly it does sadden me that in due to her wanting people to hear niki’s music, in turn meant most people would flock to her than to niki themselves. Not to say niki didn’t get any credit, nowadays niki is pretty well known and has been really grateful to Kyaami for everything, but his work is still very much overshadowed generally speaking. It’s nice to see though in recent years people coming to appreciate and love the original songs sung by Lily, and in turn staying to hear more from niki

Winter Words, Flare, Tremolo Fly, Terrorist, Face and Prototype are also really good and I definitely recommend checking em out along with the rest of niki’s discography! To suggest some more obscure and underrated songs by niki, Beyond is another great song that uses Utauloid Sekka Yufu. There’s also the rerelease version of it on his ERROR album using Miku that’s also really good. And speaking of alternative versions of songs, there’s an album exclusive version of WAVE that exists where niki uses Rin if you’re interested in checking that out. There are also songs he wrote/collaborated with other people that I also recommend checking out, underrated collabs such as TRICK sung by Kradness, and OUR FAVOURITE SONG by Shannon Ft. Justin Ly are such great songs! Hope this helps!

The gacha and daganrompa are to blame due to trends but the cover has over 8m more views than the original by wonderful opportunity that uses Rin. The numbers are still going up, despite the cover artist's attempt to push people to the original song. Currently the cover is at 9.7m and the og is at 1m
Rats Died too. I love Oktavia, she's my favourite musician, (and she herself said she's not comfortable with how her covers are more known than some originals) but it's kinda sad seeing people using her covers not even knowing they're COVERS.
Fun fact about “Teto Territory” and “It’s always Cirno’s Turn.” After Teto Territory, “Cirno’s Math Class” was made which was also based on the original Cirno song, so it kind of came full circle in a fun way.
For the “human cover being more popular than Vocaloid original”, I would like to mention Love Ka by Hiiragi Kirai. While the original one, which was sung by VFlower, has an impressive 14,000,000 views, the Ado version has a whopping 45,000,000 VIEWS! I always liked the original better though, the way Flower is tuned makes it charming, but Ado's is good too.

@@stacki1040it's not something to be surprised about since giga is really popular with songs in and out of vocaloid (during Giga and Reol duo era) and found it from searching about Giga that a channel from (currently 11 years ago) uploaded that cover into youtube since it was only uploaded in Nico Nico (hence, you don't know about it). I also didn't know about the original being from Miku as at that time, the cover just had more traction due to it being so upbeat and catchy from the twin vocaloids.
Oh I found most vocaloid songs from animations and I found an electric Angel animation and they used the rin and Len cover since I didn’t really check back I didnt find out it was a cover :P

-ERROR's story as a Ritsu cover is very fascinating. -ERROR was a somewhat popular but relatively obscure niki song (in the west at least, back then Lily was considered out of people's tastes as the fanbase wasn't mature enough to collectively appreciate the voice more than the design, not to mention she was pretty difficult to sound good due to all of her glitches). Namine Ritsu had just gotten the Kire voicebank that made him sound like a Vocaloid with the correct tuning, and damn did Cillia nail it.
Not only did niki become a staple of covers in the west after it (you KNEW that any new vocaloid would get an ERROR cover within the first days of release), Cillia was declared a Ritsu master on NND, she collaborated with the pixiv illustrator of the picture she used for a companion illustration for +REVERSE, her cover was released as a single for KarenT, she collaborated with Canon (Ritsu's voicer) multiple times, and her UTAU OC was elevated to near proffessional levels of design and recording quality due to her collabs with Canon and the pixiv illustrator.
Her tuning work even got her to work for Yamaha at one point for Vocaloid demos and tuning tutorials, visiting Japan for livestreams and nico lives. This stuff was wild and an amazing achievement for an overseas user.

Kyaami loved niki’s songs and really wanted to bring them over to have more people hear niki’s music, so she made covers to spread the word. Not just -ERROR, but Niki’s songs in general afterwards are a huge staple in the cover Artist community because of Kyaami; there are so just many covers of Niki’s songs, it’s _staggering._ Kyaami paved the way for that because she continued to cover many of niki’s songs afterwards like FLARE, FIRST, and JITTER DOLL, even collaborated with niki creating SILENCE using Avanna and made the awesome cover of Shadow Haze Variation using Meiko. As cool as this all is though, admittedly it does sadden me that in due to her wanting people to hear niki’s music, in turn meant most people would flock to her than to niki themselves. Not to say niki didn’t get any credit, nowadays niki is pretty well known and has been really grateful to Kyaami for everything, but his work is still very much overshadowed generally speaking. It’s nice to see though in recent years people coming to appreciate and love the original songs sung by Lily, and in turn staying to hear more from niki

@@entropyvitalizer Eyes is an underrated gem by niki that was an album exclusive and it’s one of my faves to this day. Winter Words, Flare, Tremolo Fly, Terrorist, Face and Prototype are also really good and I definitely recommend checking em out along with the rest of niki’s discography! To suggest some more obscure and underrated songs by niki, Beyond is another great song that uses Utauloid Sekka Yufu. There’s also the rerelease version of it on his ERROR album using Miku that’s also really good. And speaking of alternative versions of songs, there’s an album exclusive version of WAVE that exists where niki uses Rin if you’re interested in checking that out. There are also songs he wrote/collaborated with other people that I also recommend checking out, underrated collabs such as TRICK sung by Kradness, and OUR FAVOURITE SONG by Shannon Ft. Justin Ly are such great songs! Hope this helps!

I always liked the original better though, the way Flower is tuned makes it charming, but Ado's is good too.

@@stacki1040it's not something to be surprised about since giga is really popular with songs in and out of vocaloid (during Giga and Reol duo era) and found it from searching about Giga that a channel from (currently 11 years ago) uploaded that cover into youtube since it was only uploaded in Nico Nico (hence, you don't know about it).
I also didn't know about the original being from Miku as at that time, the cover just had more traction due to it being so upbeat and catchy from the twin vocaloids.
