This song has always been a special one for me. Love every single note and every single word. Love every sweet and painful memory that come with it but the "move of destiny" and the" strummy solo section " are my most favorite parts and also the parts that I will unfortunately never be able to completely play. Regardless... this song will always a part of me. Thanks for the wonderful and clear tutorial.
This one was more than fun and helpful. this one was actually incredible and educating. I can't thank you enough for all of these videos you put out, dude; but thank you, nonetheless.
Been watching from the shadows for almost 2 years now. Just want you to know you have imo an awesome teaching system and appreciate what you do for the guitar community.
@@RyanLendt it's not too bad wobbly , I tried CGDGGD and it wasn't too bad. Of course you'd need a capo to play with the record but if you're just playing yourself it seems to work.
This is one cool tuning. It’s a no fail for me. Easy. Just tuning is the only key. Other than that. Wow. I’m amazed. Learned the song and away we went. Good content.
Dude . The last thing I ever wanted to go do was to find this tuning ? only because it bugged me ? after surfing around and dying of boredom ? I find you ? very nice job my friend ? it's smart and funny and kind ? things like strumming patterns etc ? I'm interested in but I do love how you say '' find your own way "" or something like that ? which is kind and the truth , I play for a living and have for a very long time lol ? I just dig the fact you got this right and I love your teaching skills ? theres no ego and heres how it goes > I use a lot of open tunings and this one bugged me ? so thx and nice job
I’ve been teaching guitar for 21 years and am very critical of other teachers. You just taught this so well that I was able to memorize the whole video. When I pick up my guitar in a few minutes I’ll know how to play it. Outstanding job.
it’s a good day when your strings don’t break tuning like goo goo dolls! Thanks for the lesson, so simple yet so beautiful. before you tune back to standard, rip some fat harmonics in this tuning
Hi Ryan! AMAZING! Do you know if that's how Johnny Reznick tunes his guitar at the live show for this song? I saw a FB video of a young guy named Jake going up on stage playing this song with The Goo Goo Dolls and John warned the kid about the tuning. It's what brought me to you. Thanks for amazing teaching abilities.
How long have you had that Taylor? Have you ever played the liberty tree Taylor?id love to hear it played with that guitar. Great video I will learn this.
Great lesson. Although I do take issue with "it's not the same song on electric." Of course it is! Great songs transcend their instrumentation and even their style. I can actually hear Billy Bragg doing this one with just the Tele rig he uses on A New England. It would be great on a piano too although goddamn, just the thought of retuning it to open Dsus2 and back between songs... :)
Ryan I figured out a campfire version if you wanna try? Standard tuning, capo 2nd fret , start on G cord keeping your ring and pinky fingers in place and walk G to 2nd fret E string to C E D C , then the Diddy hammer ons are in that C that is played like G , does this make sense? I love your campfire versions so I thought you'd like to try this way. Then there's no tuning, I can try to explain more if I'm not making sense lol, 🙃 🤘🏻 rock on
Attention Ryan. If that works we definitely need a campfire version 😜 That tuning sounds a bit to much for my ol acoustic to stand. I shall have to try capoing it.
@@jameslong4929 I can do I quick video tomorrow and share it on my channel, I learn in my own way always have, but Ryan does tons of great songs and I like having his take on different ways to play songs, especially acoustic unplugged style stuff.
Thought for sure you’d come back in hammering away at a typewriter (it is a typewriter hidden at the end of Binaural isn’t it??) Lesson sounds amazing!
While I'm thinking about it Ryan, is it ok if I share parts from my brain on this song ? I just don't wanna step on your toes and I apologize for saying I would share tomorrow without asking what you thought first, thanks Ryan
The mannerisms, the explanation, the sarcasm 🤌🏼
Excellent teacher
thank you sir.
You have the most amazing ability to make hard songs approachable for me . This is excellent instruction!!!
appreciate you bill :)
“Put your finger somewhere & if it sounds good, you should do it” - solid advice sir 😅 🤘🏼

Nice to hear from you Mr strat!
This is entirely too much fun to play! Thanks for laying it out in easy to follow chunks!
Yup, you could teach guitar anywhere, probably even to someone on the street! Your approach is awesome!
Awesome !!! I have messed around with so many different tuning over the years trying to get this right.
Same. I've fought my way through a few versions that never sounded right...
@@robwagner7545 I will probably drop this tuning down a step to lower the tension on my neck.
then capo 2 - i thought about this but then E string would be awfully wobbly

Thank you so much Ryan. Can't wait to pull this one out at a party

I would learn this one, but I''d need to get a backup set of strings just in case things go wrong during the tuning.
This is one cool tuning. It’s a no fail for me. Easy. Just tuning is the only key. Other than that. Wow. I’m amazed. Learned the song and away we went. Good content.
I think I've previously seen teachers suggest getting the B string up to an E or replace the B string with a second E. Your tuning is much better!
yeah, even if that's correct it's not reasonable so I went with this one
B to an E? Is that even possible?
@@eagles_sI do it all the time. It also sounds better.
That's because that's the right way.
@@kilrahi8696what gauge string or do you tune down?
Great tutorial! Quick and easy, and super accurate.

GREAT- how about Springsteen's Candy's Room- especially his solo?
Great approach to teaching, if theres an easier way, do it!
Funniest guitar tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you.
thats awesome and hilarious , thanks
How do I go about tuning my guitar to this tuning? Do I need an electronic tuner?
you make it look easy
Ryan, is there a way to play this in standard tuning?
there's a way to play everything in standard tuning, but I think for me too much of the tastiness would disappear on this one
Good one! Thanks! :)

“Take a finger, preferably your finger” 🤣

after we have our collective stroke we become collective souls

exactly.

I'd like to request Micky by Toni Basil so I can sing it to Vicky.
It should be mentioned Johnny actually used DAEAEE, he replaced the B string with high E cos tuning B way up to E will break the string
And that's why Johnny travels with about a dozen and a half guitars. 😂
"Before the move of destiny..." 😂
