I couldn't wait any longer to share it with you guys so here it is! We are so excited for the dogs to have their very own room as well as have a dedicated space to raise our litters when we have them! Let me know what you think in the comments down below! I really appreciate you putting the dates into these videos! As someone that struggles with motivation, when I see videos like this it can make it worse since I feel like I have so far to go before I reach "normal" motivation levels. I always feel like I'm not doing enough, which I bet is something all breeders can relate to TBH. Having the dates in the video helped because I realized that there were probably chunks of a few days in a row where you didn't work on it at all, because you were doing other things (like work lol). It's honestly a really nice reminder that each day is separate and not doing something one day isn't you choosing to never do it.

    We breed dogs too, and I used to work for a lab that bred dogs and would care for hundreds of dogs per day. The ideal puppy area would be able to be completely hosed-down, with the waste water positioned to go down a slant into a gutter. You would have a secondary enclosure for the puppies to easily run to while one area is being cleaned. Just thoughts for if you guys ever want to do this again. I know everybody has constraints and I am by no means working from an even close to ideal system myself currently, so.

      @Kat-gr7yc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kathrynletchford5114 sure most breed in their backyard but the ones with a “fancy organization” do breed specific health testing, look for specific temperaments, breed for purpose, prove their dogs within show ring or in specific sports, and most importantly breed within standard. Doodle breeders are scam artists who breed for a trend, just like puggle breeders did and just like pomsky breeders did. animals aren’t here to make people money, breeding should be done to better the breed or for a very specific purpose (working lines, service work, etc.)

    Looks great, but I wouldn’t put a rug in there because the pups will chew it and use it for a bathroom. Not very practical if you’re wanting to let the pups out. I would suggest maybe rubber mats so they have traction and also easier on your floors.

    • @baileywilliams_
      @baileywilliams_  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If we put a rug there it would only be when we weren’t using it for puppy curriculum! We would definitely move it! We will use whelping pads with traction when the puppies are using the area!

    • @anayakey822
      @anayakey822 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Breeding is EXPENSIVE. I'm talking $10k-$100k to start depending on how many and what kind of dogs you wanna start with. Remember to get a bitch and stud with at least semi-decent pedigrees, FIND A REASON TO BREED, find out what you want to breed, wait till they are 2 years old to breed them, keep up on vet checks and vaccines, get a health check before breeding, do a genetic health test panel for their breed and continue to do it every 6-12 months, get titles for the parents unless you're breeding for health or pet, make documents for buyers to fill out so that you know the puppies will go to good homes, make sure you have access money (usually at least $500-$1000) for emergencies like c-sections, possibly insure the dog with AKC breeding insurance if you can't do that, find a good diet for example Victor, Raw, Diamond Naturals, etc, buy beds, heat sources, food storage, toys, potty pads, treats, pooper scoopers, brooms, vaccums, training equipment, set up a kennel, or whelping box if you're only doing it indoors, be prepared for puppies to poop ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE be it on each other, in their bowls, bed, etc, make sure you have a grooming station (the hose doesn't count since it'll be too cold in the winter), make sure you have a high noise tolerance (as well as your neighbors.) because puppies and dogs bark. a LOT. ESPECIALLY during weaning. Make sure you have a way to separate the mom from the puppies for weaning, make sure you have a way to separate the male if you're not renting him so you don't have potentially dangerous accident litters and he doesn't kill the puppies or make the mother nervous, make a website, etc. etc. etc. SO much goes into dog breeding and you may not even make back what you spent unless you're selling well-bred, EXPENSIVE dogs. Protection dogs can go up to $200,000 each but you have to be mentally and physically prepared to deal with a potentially dangerous dog, HOURS of training and exercise per day, the hundreds put into training the puppies while you raise them for jobs like schutzhund, IPO, Mondio ring, etc, learning to train dogs yourself so you don't have a bunch of spazzes chewing up EVERYTHING, breeding for temperament and health, breeding once a year, and realizing that your bitch may not produce a quality puppy sometime down the road, meaning you won't be able to breed her any longer, etc. These are just the BASICS of breeding. You will learn things every single day.
