- Hi guys, this is a quick time lapse of a BMW F30 shadow edition LCI LED headlight I have repaired.
This method did not require an oven and also virtually no damage had occurred to the casing whilst removing the lens.
Tools used:
-Bosch multi cutter
-Bosch heat gun
-A Flat heat screwdriver
-A T20 torx screwdriver
-A pair of Mole Grips
-Butyl Tape
-A large F-clamp
-Replacement Lens
Method:
1)Lens was cut off using the multi-cutter
2)Bottom modules removed to allow access to remove internals
3)Internals were removed to prevent chrome from being touched and marked whilst the remaining lens and glue was removed
4)Remaining lens and glue was removed
5) Headlight was blown out with compressed air to remove debris
6)New sealant added and pressed down to make sure no air gap is present
7) Sealant is heated till it is soft
8) Bezel is swapped from old lens and attached to the replacement lens
9) New lens and bezel are pressed against the headlight casing, F-clamps and Mole grips are used to make sure the lens stays close whilst the butyl cools down.
This would be the same for the LED F87 right? Also what cutting tool is that where do you get it?
Can you tell me where I can get that exact lens from please
EBay lad

How would you clean the chrome? touched it by accident and it has a smudge!
What the type of glue you are using?
Do you offer this service?

Why don’t you just use the heat gun to melt off the glue instead of cutting the lens?
The lens is already damaged, theres no use for it anymore. Cutting off the lens saves the edges when prying the remainder of the lens out.
@@teesshed I see your point. I guess my concern was using the cutter is risky in terms of it cutting through the internals and all that shavings it’s going to through inside the headlight.
@@slengoslengaw8510 steady hands and an air compressor will solve those haha ;)
@@teesshed steady hands ok but why compressor? Steady hands and 80°C in oven isn't sufficient?
@@lapinoumalina compressor to remove all the dust and dirt in the headlight. The oven method doesn't work for me, it takes too long
