- This is a Blackpool Illuminations/Blackpool Council video of Lightworks - where Blackpool Illuminations are Made. Originally uploaded to their 'Blackpool Illuminations' Facebook page on 6.6.20 to celebrate the depots 10th year.
Lightworks is the purpose built depot at South Shore. All of the Blackpool Illuminations are made and maintained here. It's an amazing building, with all of the manufacturing and maintenance functions under one roof.
This video is narrated by Blackpool Illuminations creative curator, Laurence Llewelyn Bowen.

We had a tour here a few years ago, it so recommend it to all fans of the Illuminations.
Thanks for sharing this video. I did some volunteering at Lightworks a couple of years ago. Spend an interesting 3 days re-lamping some of the tableau and assembly some of the big roadway features after they had been checked and tested. Fascinating place to look round.

Thank you so much VFC for this fascinating tour of the illuminations headquarters! What a marvellous and spacious facility for the creation and maintenance of so much that brings delight to so many. It would be a wonderful experience if we could watch a fibre-glass light structure created from digital drawing board to installation and maybe one day that will come about. It must be hard work to create this whole annual event but it must also be great fun! I remember the time before fibre glass when the structures for the Leamington Lights in that town were made of coloured glass, figures from Alice in Wonderland and what-not. Many thanks for this documentary which was a wonderful surprise to find this morning! :)

Where's the company is it in Blackpool?
The company is Lightworks and is located on Amy Johnson Way which is off Squires Gate Lane at the south end of the town.
It's part of Blackpool Council.
I didn't know Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen worked at Blackpool Illuminations? Perhaps he's a Blackpool Illuminatus?
He doesn't actually 'work' there as in a full time job. But he is a member of the team, and the Creative Curator. He's a really nice man.
@@visitfyldecoast ha ha, was largely a guess but I do remember something about him working there a while ago.
