Great locomotive, definitely the favorite in my collection and I don't see that changing anytime soon even though I'm a Milwaukee road diesel guy and Lionel is releasing newly retooled sd40-2s including the milw 156 bicentennial. The Milwaukee road primarily ran sd40-2s and gp40s during my dad's childhood so it is really cool to model the era my dad experienced.
I currently have a problem with my Rail King Blue Comet. it was made in 1998 and when I start it up, it doesn't move, the headlight is dim, and eventually the breaker switch on the transformer flips.

I have the 2018 version but it has a problem it was working great at first but later on the whistle sometimes works the chuff sounds keep turning on and off, and the cylinder steam stopped working what should I do?
First under the assumption you are running it with Legacy or TMCC. I would simply try hitting the Reset key (or “0” on TMCC). If that does not help I would reset the locomotive by first turning the “Run-Program” switch to program. Then apply track power. Use Legacy or TMCC to address the locomotive to your desired TMCC ID number. Then hit set, then turn off tack power. Finally move the “Run-Program” back to run. If this proves to be no help giving Lionel Customer Service is always a good choice. As always that may seam daunting but they are always nice and willing to help. You can also take it by an Authorized Service Station if there is one close to you. Hope this helps
