My father, Ronnie McKinney was a life long friend of Glen Campbell. Glen lived with my Dad and played in his band in the 1950s around the Houston Texas area. They had many wonderful stories to tell every time they got together over the years. It broke my Dad's heart when Glen's alzhiemers really got bad. My Dad, Ronnie McKinney passed away 12-4-2016. Glen , his uncle Boo and my Dad are picking up a storm in heaven right now.Playing Little Rock Getaway!

It must have been a comfort to him to have that beautiful voice so near the end of his life . I lost my husband in 2020 to dementia and still I wonder if he was afraid but know he'd have done anything not to worry us, that's who he was❤. Such a cruel disease!
Tremendous show from Chris Isaac with and about Glen Campbell. Two things stand out, one what a great talent Glen Campbell had which Chris clearly recognized even maybe more than Glen did, and secondly, what a terrific fan Chris was and is of music generally - we know Chris loved Elvis, Roy Orbison & Johnny Cash, but his love and knowledge of music and his sensitive handling of Glen at this time in his life makes this clip almost a historical document - and I don't think that's overstating things. Chris is greatly underrated . . .

He also gave a few their start in the business. Van haven used toga glen with help.on his guitar playing. Yup..true....never read a note of sheet music..and mastered the bagpipes on his own....one talented gifted man with a gentle heart

After watching Glen's "I'll Be Me" documentary, it's unquestionable that he was already experiencing the early stages of Alzheimer's at the time of this interview. It's so sad to know that Glen can no longer speak, and has no memory of any of this. His album "Still Within the Sound of My Voice" is one of the best country albums ever recorded. Also, his last studio album, "Ghost On the Canvas" is extremely good. Knowing he recorded it at 71 or 72 years old, and while dealing with Alzheimer's disease just makes it that much more incredible. We miss you, Glen.
It's the third time I've watched this from start to finish and I love it. The humility from such a superstar like Glen is fantastic and Chris is an utter gentleman who makes this a special show.
if this was 2009, Glen was 73...still singing strongly in the original keys without melodic adjustments to snake by high notes...as a singer for 53 years, that ability has always amazed me about Glen--and continued right up til his last tour. This interview was informative--heard a few questions that I had never heard asked of him. Isaac was so genuinely respectful and appreciative of the gem of a musician he was with, which I really appreciate. Thank u for posting this--it was truly a thrill to watch.
We're lucky to have the fortune of the fact that Glen's talent made it to so many people. While it's easy to feel bad at his passing, I celebrate that he lives on in my heart, and my nostalgic memory of better and simpler times. I want so much, to go back to the days of Wichita Lineman, sometimes, it hurts.
8/8/17 we can find recordings of Glen singing this throughout his career. Each time as Glen's voice aged it added more depth and emotion to the song, but never overplayed.

I grew up listening to my parents playing country music and when I heard Glen Campbell's Witchita Lineman and By The Time I get to Pheonix, I never forgot the sweet sound of those beautiful songs. Glens voice speaks straight to the heart and soul and his music is timeless. He is an icon. My heart and prayers go out to Glen Campbell as Alzheimers is a horrific illness that affects far too many people these days and that I hope we can one day find a cure for!
I spent about 6 hours with Glen and his combo following a show he was on back in 9/67. Just a regular good guy, funny, relaxed and just starting his swift climb to the top of the music world. I agree with all the good things said about him in these comments.

Glen Campbell made a great difference in my life. I grew up in the sixties and by the time left Phenoix was the first album I had and I saw True Grit at the drive inn. His songs bring back great memories. Much better time in music and history at least in my mind and that comes from someone listing to those great attest during that time. The Chris Issak Show was very underrated. I remember when it first aired on the Biography Channel. Chris has a confortable interview quality with his guests whether it was Glen Campbell, or Stevie Nicks, or my own favorite, when he interviewed Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens).
what an example of just how devastating a condition Alzheimers is Glen was always a great interview over the years his stories were so detailed and he would regularly share recollections from as far back as 2 or 3 years of age not to mention his detailed stories of his career as both a session player and a superstar recording artist he obviously had a great memory. his illness has really weighed on me these last few years have even shed a few tears for him Glen was one of the best ever
I agree with you about crying over Glen's condition. He made a huge impact on all of us growing up in the 60's whether we favored country music or not. Wichita Lineman was one of the most beautiful songs of the time and his voice was unique like no one else!!!! I want to learn more! I was very sad these last few years about his illness. I wonder if there is a book that details his life.
I feel the same way. Mr. Campbell had so many struggles with alcohol and drugs over the years. It was upsetting to see the last few years of life be ruined with Alzheimer's disease. Anyone who gets any one of the diseases of dementia is an unforgiving destruction of one's life. The interesting thing about Glen was that he could still play guitar up until two years before his death. He never forgot. I saw him in person play in the early 2000's at a local club in So. California. What a treat! I miss classic country music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Today's music sounds synthetic. Not nearly the quality of lyrics and melody from past years. I wish we could go back to a simpler time without technology to complicate the music.
Growing up in the 70s pop listening to him was a gasser traveling on hunting fishing and camping trips out of Vegas to central Nevada and northeast corner of Nevada area 7 , 6, 17 , and 11 , last trip to 22 at bristle cone....🤔💚😔😊✌️

This is a great interview of the unbelievable voice and guitar playing of Glen Campbell by Chris Isaak. I had never heard Isaak before this interview. He did an excellent job. He was obviously a very good interview to get all this out of Glen Campbell at this stage of disease Alzheimer. He even had him talking about his problems with Alcoholism and the cocaine he was as he said not a nice person when he was on all of that Cocaine and alcohol for all of those years. When he saw himself an knew he needed to be free of all the "stuff" of addiction, he did, he had the help and comfort of the lady who became his last wife. Again, this had so m much meat within the interview and Glenn's singing was still great, maybe a step behind what he had a couple decades before. Now Glen is IN his Lord Jesus's Hands. He accepted the Lord when he was getting off the drugs and alcohol for good. Thank you Jesus for lending us Glen Campbell;l for those wonderful years. God has Blessed Glen Campbell.

I've known Chris for many years as my brother "Jimmy Wilsey" was Chris' guitarist for years while he was a solo artist. You can hear Jimmy's guitar work on "Wicked Game" and throughout the entire album. Chris is a class act, no doubt.
You are blessed to know Chris. I printed up a 33 page article on your brother which O plan to read today, Thanksgiving 2020 as I am alone and plan to do some reading today. Your brother was very talented and it was fated that he met Chris abd brought that sound to Chris' music and that song. I heard someone mention the term "surf guitar." Ghost On The Canvas has been my favorite album of his since it came out and I've been a fan since the early 1970s.

The Chris Issak Show was very underrated. I remember when it first aired on the Biography Channel. Chris has a confortable interview quality with his guests whether it was Glen Campbell, or Stevie Nicks, or my own favorite, when he interviewed Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens).
He lived and breathed music.
A wonderful man with a natural talent.
what an example of just how devastating a condition Alzheimers is Glen was always a great interview over the years his stories were so detailed and he would regularly share recollections from as far back as 2 or 3 years of age not to mention his detailed stories of his career as both a session player and a superstar recording artist he obviously had a great memory. his illness has really weighed on me these last few years have even shed a few tears for him Glen was one of the best ever
I agree with you about crying over Glen's condition. He made a huge impact on all of us growing up in the 60's whether we favored country music or not. Wichita Lineman was one of the most beautiful songs of the time and his voice was unique like no one else!!!! I want to learn more! I was very sad these last few years about his illness. I wonder if there is a book that details his life.
I feel the same way. Mr. Campbell had so many struggles with alcohol and drugs over the years. It was upsetting to see the last few years of life be ruined with Alzheimer's disease. Anyone who gets any one of the diseases of dementia is an unforgiving destruction of one's life. The interesting thing about Glen was that he could still play guitar up until two years before his death. He never forgot. I saw him in person play in the early 2000's at a local club in So. California. What a treat! I miss classic country music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Today's music sounds synthetic. Not nearly the quality of lyrics and melody from past years. I wish we could go back to a simpler time without technology to complicate the music.
Growing up in the 70s pop listening to him was a gasser traveling on hunting fishing and camping trips out of Vegas to central Nevada and northeast corner of Nevada area 7 , 6, 17 , and 11 , last trip to 22 at bristle cone....🤔💚😔😊✌️
Miss the old man immensely memories of the times having fun with each other's share of experiences and goofs momma's hot meals after a good day hunting or working at home rhinestone cowboy and wichita lineman all time favs always...

Nearly 70 years old now, I miss his talents, his voice, his forthrightness and more. I hope to hear that unbelievably unique and awesome voice again some day. The best to his family. I hope and pray for their continuing happiness and achievement.

I wish I would have watched Chris's show when it was aired. The best part of all is the performers are playing LIVE. No mouthing the song or lip singing. Chris is a good show host. You can hear a little bit of voice lost in Glen's voice singing voice. Thanks for publishing this.
This might just be the best musical interview I've ever seen! Having an interviewer/singer/guitarist music fan like Chris Isaak interview, and play all kinds of great tunes with a legend like Glen Campbell...it just doesn't get any better. Just got my copy of the Wrecking Crew, and it reminded me what an amazing musician Glen is. Thanks for posting this.

Best interview of Glenn ever. You can tell how much Chris and Hershel dig playing Galveston with Glenn. I'm so glad Hershel got to go off even if just for a bit at the end.
So glad they used the proper guitar for the solo in Wichita Lineman, a Danelectro 6 string bass.
During the bridge section of Galveston you can see his kids Shannon and Ashley performing back-up. I am pretty sure that the younger of the 2 drummers is one of his sons also. What a musical family!
The drummer son is Cal Campbell.
To still be capable of pitch and voice control, considering his condition is to be commended. Music saves lives.
Love Glen Campbell... In 1980 I was learning to play various instruments including the guitar and piano.. I had three records (LPs) to my name: One by Glen, The Eagles, and Cliff Richard.. My mom still has the records in Ireland.... What a gift to all Mr. Campbell was.. Rest well Mr. Campbell and God Speed..
I love seeing these great interviews, but we cry because of Glen's disease thats stole his life. He will ALWAYS be our Rhinestone Cowboy!
I've been a fan of Glenn's since his show was on when I was a kid. Campell and Isaac, two real, gifted, class acts.
Glen Campbell 's music when played at home when I was growing up.Loved him then love him now.A gentleman singer actor husband father how is has touch alot of peoples lives, while watching Chris Isaaks special it made me forget for one hour that Glen Campbell is down with Alziemers.God love you Glen and God bless you will always be gentle on my mind.😇
Oh my gosh, I am so glad I found this episode. I just watched I'll Be Me on Netflix and suddenly wondered if Chris Isaak was influened by Glen Campbell and was looking for Chris Isaak on Facebook to ask him. They are both extraordinary talented!

This is a great interview of the unbelievable voice and guitar playing of Glen Campbell by Chris Isaak. I had never heard Isaak before this interview. He did an excellent job. He was obviously a very good interview to get all this out of Glen Campbell at this stage of disease Alzheimer. He even had him talking about his problems with Alcoholism and the cocaine he was as he said not a nice person when he was on all of that Cocaine and alcohol for all of those years. When he saw himself an knew he needed to be free of all the "stuff" of addiction, he did, he had the help and comfort of the lady who became his last wife. Again, this had so m much meat within the interview and Glenn's singing was still great, maybe a step behind what he had a couple decades before. Now Glen is IN his Lord Jesus's Hands. He accepted the Lord when he was getting off the drugs and alcohol for good. Thank you Jesus for lending us Glen Campbell;l for those wonderful years. God has Blessed Glen Campbell.

I agree with you. Chris needs his own talk show. He really does get to the point and most people ramble in the most irritating way and you are right they can't get enough of the sound of their own voices to themselves.

I've known Chris for many years as my brother "Jimmy Wilsey" was Chris' guitarist for years while he was a solo artist. You can hear Jimmy's guitar work on "Wicked Game" and throughout the entire album. Chris is a class act, no doubt.
You are blessed to know Chris. I printed up a 33 page article on your brother which O plan to read today, Thanksgiving 2020 as I am alone and plan to do some reading today. Your brother was very talented and it was fated that he met Chris abd brought that sound to Chris' music and that song.

"There's a load of compromising on this road to my horizon." You picked a classic line to comment on!! Please tell us when you ever get to Vegas or ND! I'd be there in a minute! Well, I'd like to hear you anywhere, but job and horses keep me home in the Dakotas except for a quick trip to NV on occasion. Keep on singing your soulful rocking bluesy music! Jimmy was a great player, his guitar track makes that whole song happen, he was a tone master, love his solo effort El Dorado as well. He truly was the "King of Slow" RIP Jimmy.
Chris Isaak does a wonderful interview and it's seems easy to tell now in hindsight that Glen was in the early stages of Alzheimer's; but much class and respect shown to such a great musical legend as Glen.
Glen was one of the first performers to get me interested in country music back in the 60's. Guy can pick. Great voice. He also introduced me to Tanya Tucker. Been a love affair ever since.
I have known Chris since before he was a big star. Dude is just the most humble and down to earth guy you could ever meet. I have never seen this until today but wow what a gem of an interview with two of my favorite people.
A master musician. Always an interest in Glen Campbell from hearing his songs as a kid in the mid 60s. Even as a rock guitarist you knew he was a hell of a player as well as a prolific songwriter. Chris Isaak deserves a lot of kudos for his interview style
Glen’s video of a song called ”Come Harvest Time” makes these final performances poignant. What a talent.
