I love to hold the skein over my knees and ball the yarn up on my thumb. It's so convenient and I get to touch every inch of yarn. I haven't had the winder or swift out for a long time.
What a great tutorial thank you for sharing. I use a Amish tabletop swift and a hand crank winding or is I am camping I will still take the same swift but often take a Nostepinne with me if I need to pack tighter
The secret to tangle-free is being very careful with the hank when you open it and place it on the swift. How you hold the skein isn’t as important as that the yarn is tidy. Thanks for watching!

That is why we love the fiber arts -- touch is everything! Doing it your way is beautiful, but I just don't have the luxury of time.
