The Tau are based off of all of the major Asian cultures in their own rights. Examples: Caste system - Hindu/Indian culture. The "Greater Good" - Communist China, or possibly the Korean Han. Battlesuits - Japanese mecha/super technology.
Only that the Tau are not communist at all, you just base that perception on viewing the importance they place on the collective good before the individual's good, to be "communistic" which it isn't.
If you are one third Japanese, a third native american, and a third Stalin, then congratz you are basically a Tau. "Konichiwa, domo ariga-earthmother guide Stalin, cyka blyat!"
Their philosophy and combat style is Chinese. Their Mechsuits and battle suits are Japanese anime. Their rulers/philosopher kings and Castes are basically Indian. Their kind of a mixed bag of all Asians.
Also, another thing I noticed. If the Imperium is Rome, then that means the Tau are basically Carthage. They have a smaller population, are mostly merchants, but have a dedicated military force, and rely on other races to bolster their fighting forces, such Libyans, Iberians and Gauls, just as the Tau need Kroot, Vespid, and Geu'vesa.
An ideal is more powerful than a person. The Imperium will never understand; the Emperor is dead, only his ideas live on, but ironically enough, his ideas died with him.
Imagine having to canonically make the Tau evil so they won't be the most logical choice if you have to choose to live somewhere in the Warhammer 40K universe.....that or being an Ork.
It's pretty funny how the Tau are obviously the Japanese. Their utilization of robots, their Asian influenced music and architecture, and the fact that they're called the Tau.
@@magicalspooder8279 The Imperium is too busy fighting everything at once. So does the Orks. Chaos simply can't see them at all. The Eldar is too busy being haughty to everyone, and the Dark Eldar is having fun doing BDSM and playing hide and seek with Slaanesh. The Necrons is still too sleepy to do anything. While the Tyranids prefers to get a bigger meat in their table.
Essex Class You do not know the honour of defeating an enemy in melee combat. How hounorable is it do kill the enemy with a machine that does most of the work? To fight in close combat is a mark of both bravery and skill.
Adam Stringer How Honorable is it to wear power armor with power swords killing with mind bullets and having artificial strengthening and body augumentation instead of fighting with what you have?
Imperium might be my favorite faction, due to biology & writing (and TTS). The Orks might come second, due to the genius of their concept, and FUN. But the Tau are a close third, for the sheer virtue of HOPE.
@ajr993 The name comes from the Tau symbol, which was also used in Egypt and similar to the path of Tao from Asia ! The tau symbol is also related of bulls, and tau are bovine-related people, but different from those found on earth.
If you think about it, the Tau are the only true beacon of hope in the Warhammer 40k universe. Even Eldrad Ulthran, the greatest Farseer of the Eldar, said of the Tau, 'I have followed the myriad potential futures of the Tau with great interest. Though barely even striplings compared to us, I feel a strange protectivness towards them. In time I believe they will exceed even our greatest feats and master the darkness within their souls.' Implying that the Tau will become greater than they were.
Tau don’t rely on ranged cuz they are weak in close combat, but because ranged is safer and more effective ! The imperial guard does the same 99 % of guardsmen are ranged units, if the would have fought in close combat their survivability would drop with 99 %, especially seeing how strong ranged weapons are in 40k ! Melee is something only certain mutants or species can afford - Like eldar due to good stealth, natural speed and damn good armor, space marines due to their power armor(which gives lots of defense), but even marines prefer ranged weapons mostly, and orks due to the fact that they are damn resistant, they are so resistant that dark eldar see no fun in torturing them. And there are also ogryns, but they are basically a type of mutant ! The tau take all these into account, so they use species with special abilities for melee, like kroot, which are damn strong and fast, but they also like using ranged weapons a lot.Melee is mostly good when there are few units around who can shoot you and you are good at infiltration, or just damn mobile and fast and/or resistant, or some other special condition, but it’s mostly not a widespread thing due to how dangerous it is, not to mention that the harassed unit can also shot you with it’s rifle in melee, and A SHOT in POINT BLANK range is damn effective.
I love the Tau so much, but the fact that you just have to headshot a dude in a silly cape to get them all to pack up and leave is a pretty major flaw.
(1)I meant Anime in the 40k Universe-_-,not space themed ones....in the 40k unoverse...everything is space version...eg:space marines=space crusaders...(2)Eldar as 40k Japanese? How? They don't really fit Japan and Tau is EXTREMELY DIFFERENT from most of Asia,I know because I'm Asian myself...also the way Tau united from warring states is similar to Japan, that or Mongolia.....but the thing is it fits Japan more(although it's far-east,yes) due to the sushi-tanks,welfare,and the caste system, and as a bonus,MECHA....also if Tau was more heavily based on Mongolia then they should be nomadic, although yes if you think about it,Tau is more of east Asia seeing as the castes fit each Asian country eg: Fire Caste=Mongolia(both raiders) Earth Caste=China(walls and gunpowder) Air Caste=Japan(messengers and not very united at first)Water=Korea(idk)....but in their history and culture...more Japan bent...at least more similar than eldar... SORRY FOR THE LONG POST
+neuralshock7 I've always seen the Tau as a mix. Each caste is different down to their physiology, and from their names to their historical background I've always seen the Fire Caste as more inspired by Native Plains Americans. After all they were the great hunters from the plains. But they don't build or design their equipment, the Earth Caste do. So I like to see all the different castes as being very different culturally from the others. We just only really see how the Fire Caste works, and their war gear is built by a very different cultural group with a different aesthetic to them. But of course the Fire Caste doesn't care about that, they care if it works.
Jeremy Soule is a beast. He's worked on dozens of games, but mostly notably did the soundtracks for Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. This track and Call of Magic/Nerevar Rising are my favourites.

"And I wondered, as sometimes I do when I am alone, once our own civilizations became but dust in the solar winds and our memory fades away into nothing, what other races would emerge from the raw stuff of creation? What they will believe in to claim the very stars as their own? What desperate solutions will they device for survival? In what sort of machines they will ride to war and with what weapons they will unleash death upon their foes?"
To those wondering why the Imperium hate Tau, before the Emperor was hooked up to the Golden Throne, he sought to reunite humanity via Universal Conquest. It is a main doctrine of both Adeptus Astartes, the Holy Inquisition, AND the Imperial Guard that anything that isn't human is to be put to the torch for the good of humanity. Despite the corruption of his teachings and his subsequent becoming a deity for man kind, that's one of the main teachings that Humanity Still follows. For the Xeno is not to be trusted.
John Connor Peace? Did you even saw the Tau ending in Dark crusade? they treated humans like shit and even humans treat tau shit in the grim darkness of future no one is the so called "Good Guys" everyone is evil in it's own purpose.
RevanSigma Actually Emperor wasn't so xenophobic as Imperium is now. He often cooperated with Eldar for example, because they mostly shared a common goal. Eldar even warned him about Horus, but he didn't believe. He represented humanity, fought for it, wanted to unite it, but not eradicate everything else. He sought supremacy, not genocide.
***** thats just the dark crusade ending! humans living in the tau empire actualy live better than in the imperium of man! they even still let them worship the god emperor although they are also slowly turning to the greater good!
The Tenno shall fight beside the Tau. Through a screen of smoke, Ash is dashing through Chapters as they bleed and choke. Vauban puts the chaptermasters to a permanent siesta, As all of them are struck with the wrath of his tesla. In the center of it all, Excalibur Mag Ember, Set Terra on fire with a radical temper. Radial Javelin and Bullet attractor, Dismember Magnus himself in a disorderly manner. Slaughtering the Primarchs, We besiege the Throne. FOR THE GLORY OF THE TAU!

Good luck trying, but we are as numerous as we are ferocious. Still, I hope your empire can survive this harsh galaxy, and avoid repeating the mistakes my kind made.
Humans believing in greater good are slowly manifesting greater good into Chaos which means there could be Chaos God if order and prosperity which would be pretty funny. God that Unchaosed the Chaos.
A godlike psyker (person with psychic powers) who emerged from the Age of Strife to form the Imperium of Mankind. He created the Primarchs, beings with a fraction of his power, who in turn created the superhuman Space Marines, with a fraction of their power. Alas, the greatest of the Primarchs, Horus, rebelled and caused a mortal wound to the Emperor, causing him to be encased in the Golden Throne (a big life support machine).
I agree with this. I've read alot of Warhammer 40k novels and it is the truth. The Tau will never attack first. They simply try to show you a different way than the one you are following. And in many ways it is good. As a Human in the Tau Empire you get access to education, technology, a better life without oppression. You will not be an ignorant bum who cannot make a difference between friend and foe because you're told everything non human is the enemy.
You know I would have still remained skeptical about their Tau influences had it not been for an image of a Fire Warrior wielding what looked like a katana in a samurai postion. Still think their tribal roots and their rugged friends the Kroags have history is reminiscient of Native Americans, who fought from range and used gorilla tactics.

"Konichiwa, domo ariga-earthmother guide Stalin, cyka blyat!"
+Krion More like Chinese.

No its definatively japanese
Their philosophy and combat style is Chinese. Their Mechsuits and battle suits are Japanese anime. Their rulers/philosopher kings and Castes are basically Indian. Their kind of a mixed bag of all Asians.
Chinese Confucianism really doesn't advocate equality of any kind.

Honestly, even with the retcons making them Staurday Morning cartoon villains, I'd still pick the T'au.

It's pretty funny how the Tau are obviously the Japanese. Their utilization of robots, their Asian influenced music and architecture, and the fact that they're called the Tau.
i picture them as violent buddhists
also chinesse... look at the ethereals and the use of single syllables in their words.
But Tau is a greek letter, I mean all the asian influence to finally call them like a Greek letter xD

ChumbaWonka I think they meant Tau in the religious sense. Plus they don't use the mathematical symbol, they use the english spelling.

friendly reminder and fun fact: any race bigger than the Eldar can erase tau from existance if they wish so and have the opportunity
@@warhounds well all the other races bigger than the elder are to busy fighting other bigger races which gives time for the Tau to expand.
Once i asked space marine what he would choose Tau or Chaos and he suddenly started to worship khorne.
Why would a Servant of the Eldar Laughing God be talking with loyal Imperial servants?! I SMELL HERESY!!!
Imperium might be my favorite faction, due to biology & writing (and TTS).
The Orks might come second, due to the genius of their concept, and FUN.
But the Tau are a close third, for the sheer virtue of HOPE.
Everything changed when the Fire Caste attacked....
@ajr993 The name comes from the Tau symbol, which was also used in Egypt and similar to the path of Tao from Asia ! The tau symbol is also related of bulls, and tau are bovine-related people, but different from those found on earth.
they are advanced with technology and mixed between various races.... they are basically combine but good
"good"
If you think about it, the Tau are the only true beacon of hope in the Warhammer 40k universe.
"FOR THE GREATER GOOD!!!"
Commander Puretide would be proud.
MY EMPEROR IS THAT REALY YOU!
Eat plasma fire!!
I love the Tau so much, but the fact that you just have to headshot a dude in a silly cape to get them all to pack up and leave is a pretty major flaw.

Makes me wonder how Space Anime looks like....yes I'm a weaboo...
The T’au are like the Na’vi but they have cool tech and they are based af

To those wondering why the Imperium hate Tau, before the Emperor was hooked up to the Golden Throne, he sought to reunite humanity via Universal Conquest. It is a main doctrine of both Adeptus Astartes, the Holy Inquisition, AND the Imperial Guard that anything that isn't human is to be put to the torch for the good of humanity. Despite the corruption of his teachings and his subsequent becoming a deity for man kind, that's one of the main teachings that Humanity Still follows. For the Xeno is not to be trusted.
When you think about it, all the Tau want is peace. We're like the John Lennons of Warhammer 40k.
He sought supremacy, not genocide.

thats just the dark crusade ending! humans living in the tau empire actualy live better than in the imperium of man! they even still let them worship the god emperor although they are also slowly turning to the greater good!

What is this "me-lee" you speak off?
I agree with this. I've read alot of Warhammer 40k novels and it is the truth. The Tau will never attack first. They simply try to show you a different way than the one you are following. And in many ways it is good. As a Human in the Tau Empire you get access to education, technology, a better life without oppression. You will not be an ignorant bum who cannot make a difference between friend and foe because you're told everything non human is the enemy.
I will stabilize my imperium as Tau for the GREATER GOOD!! We shall rule Kronus for good! The Necrons and the Chaos shall fall first!
