8:53 Yes I have the same feeling on my ID.5. After reaching the temperature it starts to blow cold air. It wasn't this way on the ID.3 that we previously owned. ID.5 is with HP and sw 3.2, ID.3 was without HP. But your ID.7 is also without...
Nice Chris, Wow, video production with music and drone shots. Very cool. VW operating system hasn’t changed much from 2022, had the Tiguan I didn’t like a lot of things, in climate auto setting I had the AC come on in the winter blowing cool air, was told it gets rid of condensation.
On my Mercedes EQC and BMW i4, we had that charging flap, which worked very nice. On my Mercedes EQE, you only still get that same cheap "buttplug" and there is no place to hang it. So when you are fast charging and it's windy outside, you get that lovely "klonk klonk klonk" sound and your paint gets micro scratches. Also the stupid door handles goes in an out all the time making even more noises, so don't think the Mercedes is much better :)
Well that's 100 less problems than 4 years ago with ID.3 first edition :) Looks really great and those problems seem really minor. Hopefully VW will fix them, too, still
The issue with touch sensitive buttons is that until your muscle memory forms, you touch to feel which button is where, so you can identify which one you're going to press. If they react to the touch you no longer can do that and have to look at what you are pressing and take your eyes off the road, or you're going to do 3 things you didn't want to do until you feel your way to your button
Congrats Chris on passing 30k subs!! I've ordered a new 2024 Hyundai Kona EV as my next EV as it had the features I was looking for unfortunately in Australia the top spec only comes on 19" and non-EV specific tires(Kumho) so probably within first year sometime of my lease I'll change them out to either ePrimacy or the new Hankook iON EV tire.
This is great to see, that your patience with the VW group ID cars ha paid off and the ID.7 makes you happy every day. My patience with my ID.3 and then Cupra Born ran out so I went Tesla, but there are some thoughtful parts to the ID cars that Tesla should have 😀
I actually don't mind the plug over the DC pins, I don't DC charge often enough for it to be annoying and it seems less likely to break than the little door you find on other cars
Heating system. Still scratching my head on how i need to control that to make it work good. Cold air is such a destroyer on the comfort. Head-up display not customizable and for me the best addition would be seeing my radio channel or spotify etc on there. But now when I switch music I need to leave my navigation or whatever screen is on and look at the big tablet to see where I am and worse is when I am in android auto playing music Its hard to go back to the radio. I need to use the favorites panel or something for it then. Its the first time for me having such an expensive car and its the only car that does not show me my radio stuff in a good way. About the customization. Dont like that we only have a few layouts to choose from instead of letting us make our own layout on the big tablet. Showing the map on the square block also would be great on the customization. Head-up already mentioned is not customizable at all unless for some factory presets to choose from but only one is usefull to me since its the only one showing cruise control speed. But I still like the car offcourse. Seatbelt is awesome indeed especially when you have a new passenger that you can surprise with it 😀
Chris, the cold air when temperature is reached is the same in my ID4 (with heat pump) from 2022. Why can’t it simply reduce the air speed to minimum or do it any other way? Very annoying indeed.
It is legally required to revert to the default driving mode, otherwise the energy/fuel consumption figures would have to take consider every possible mode available at start, which would certainly increase. I'm not sure if default ADAS functions have similar restrictions.
Not exactly. It is required to fall back to the mode in which the car got the range certified. Car manufacturers may decide to certify all options, with the lowest range being the official one. For example, Tesla does that. Therefore chill, standard or sport drive modes can be stored to the user's Profile.
Thanks for all these very interesting videos.... I'm waiting on my side for an ID5 that will be delivered in about a month. I'm wondering something... Is it possible to use the Apple maps apps with the head up display (as I'm doing by now with my Arteon) ?
Is it not possible anymore to lock the car when the trunk is still open? After closing the trunk, the whole car locks itself. At least that's how I do it with my ID.3 so I don't have to fiddle with keys or the door handle when my hands are full with luggage or things like that.
@@edvardasremeika3331 I'm not sure where you find an On/Off button in the ID.7 infotainment? The shortest mute/pause function that I could find is the pull-down menu from the top of the screen. That's reasonably accessible, but not as immediate as the on/off button on the Discovery Pro unit of my Golf 7
Spoiler: the head light illuminating of Id.7 is very different from other Id models. worse low-beam and by-far the best matrix headlight you could find on a Volkswagen, even surpassing those using micro-LED based pixel high beam models.
@BatteryLife One thing that really annoys me with my ID.4 is that if I'm reversing into a parking space witb a kerb on it (maybe 3-5cm tall) the car won't climb over the kerb by itself. I have to press the accelerator and then quickly hit the brakes before the car hits the end of the parking space My old Leaf on the other hand will just maintain constant speed and climb over and small kerbs or speed bumps without pressing the accelerator Do you think VW have improved it at all with the ID.7?
No sadly the car had a battery fault they took 4 months to get the paste and the connector. The connector came from Ukraine so it was not easy to get out of there. I had to take the account off the car and put it back on again. As it was logging on as a guest not the primary user. All sorted now
@@ydmf2on more "range oriented" tires, the max spees is very limited because they are made differently and usually not able to hold the g forces AND the important weight of the car !
This car is so complex. AI assist would be much better coupled with self driving awareness and driver emotional state. That way if you are chill it runs in eco, but when something annoys you it switches to sport for aggressive maneuvers. Driving is not just about sport or eco it varies moment to moment. After racing idiots in sport on the autobahn and you get worn out with the stress the car would then down level to comfort. much better than this ridiculous menu structure to navigate while driving.
Yeah... switching the car to a more aggressive mode when the driver is annoyed or stressed seems like a really bad idea. Maybe instead it should just set the clock back 10 mins so you don't know you're late and add 20% onto the display speed to make you think you're going faster Or just inject a load of sedatives into the driver to calm them down 😂
@@the_amazing_raisin Having tried out a fast motorcycle a calm comes from riding it. You know you are faster than most every other vehicle on the road, so you hardly ever use that power and speed, just knowing you can but don't need to prove it gives a special kind of Zen.
Those "features" (trying to guess what driver wants) are often most annoying ones.
