  • With the support of the Pulitzer Centre, investigative journalist Pascalinah Kabi delves into the 2019 Mining Lease Agreement between Lesotho’s prominent mine, Letšeng Diamonds Mine, and the Lesotho government.
This agreement, controversially renewed in 2019, four years before its expiration, contains a crucial clause regarding environmental protection. It mandates that Letšeng Diamonds Mine must adhere to its environmental clearance and comply with the Environment Act of 2008, with Section 37 of the Act establishing environmental pollution as a criminal offense in Lesotho.
In this compelling documentary, Pascalinah engages with Advocate Borenahabokhethe, a lecturer at the National University of Lesotho, human rights lawyer, and former board member of Letšeng Diamonds Mine, to explore whether Letšeng has violated its mining lease agreement with the Lesotho government by polluting watercourses in Mokhotlong.
