Kate Hellenbrand posted quite a few updates concerning the Sailor Jerry rum case on her instagram. I know it’s a sensitive subject for parties involved but I would try and reach out to her for a more solid story.

Great discussion once again. I was curious to find out who was dishing out the cash for those murals and sponsorships etc.
Keep doing your thing Mr. Stortz! Look forward to every Monday thanks to these.

Get in touch with people who have tattooed athletes. I've hear of EA cutting checks for usage of the tattoos in the NBA and UFC games.
And I know that there's a discussion on ownership of tattoos of the artist vs the client, especially in the case of athletes where the tattoos are being digitally recreated.
    Great show nonetheless!

In the U.S., legally, artists retain the rights to artwork unless sold under contact. As the widow of the deceased, his wife retains the rights.

That rum company owes Mrs. Collins millions. They don’t just use the art, they use Jerry’s persona.

They are exploiting tattooing and Jerry for their own ends, they do the same for graffiti while the artist gets the proverbial shaft

That’s a super weird take from him on who owns the art. The artist does. Just because you bought a flash sheet doesn’t mean you own the art. Do you own the song rights to your favorite song when you buy it for a dollar on iTunes? No. And legally you’d get destroyed if you believe this. The artist owns the intellectual property.

He didn’t buy a flash sheet, he purchased the originals.

So steve needs some copyright education, if you own the art work, you DO NOT own the image, i own original mickey mouse sheets from disney, can i make commercial use of it? Definitely NOT, he’s delusional if he thinks he owns the rights to the artwork in his flash sheets
