Just answering your question... Yes, still enjoying your channel. I've said this before, we think of you as one of us. You don't preach at us or talk down to us. We share your highs and lows, it makes you more human. Also loving the van build, its like spending time with you out if hours
HT: It doesn't matter if a site is often photographed. Every moment in time is unique and everything you do to compose & take the photo at that instant makes it yours!
I'm with you on that one Ken. Honeypot locations or frequently visited locations are always an instant in time, and the person capturing that moment makes it their own!
I couldn't agree more with your "rant" about light! There is always something good to expect when you're out shooting if you stay in a positive frame of mind...
@3:47 I laugh at your idea of a “wave coming in”. Check out the Oregon coast. Pacific Ocean waves, they REALLY come in! Come see me Henry! I’ll show you.
As for Elgol, I would be happy to visit a million times - The limpet clad coloured rocks, the Cuillins in the background - Dream World - When I got back home, I just had to do a painting of that view.
Absolutely agree. A strong composition, such as a lone tree, set against an interesting cloud formation, is a massive part of my photography. Direct light is often not present in my images
Another awesome video henry. I think sometime you are too hard on yourself, yes a scene or place may have been photographed many times before, but it's all About putting your unique stamp on it,which You always do. Plus there no other photographer on utube who has your passion . Which why you have such a loyal following . Look forward to your next adventure. 😊👍
Truly, truly inspirational, Henry. You are so right about beating ourselves up about light, or lack thereof. I really enjoy your videos and explorations. I am 74 years old, and after a bout of poor health, culminating in a 6 month period of lower body paralysis, am a little unsteady on my legs and cannot walk as I used to. Videos such as these allow me to have your experiences vicariously. I do manage to get out and about, but I am confined to easily accessible places and not too far from the car. Please accept my grateful thanks and appreciation for all you, and your band of landscape photographers, do. George
some great tips there for the less experienced ; like 'look down'!! Notice the ''little subjects inside the big picture'' . The colours are always there ; the sun just makes the colours brighter to our eyes . But the sun also add hard shadows (Australia) and colour can easier to bring out PP than hard shadows are hard to remove . The better tip of all from video IMO - there are far more usable subjects available under a cloudy sky .
I’m literally just out of the shower after a hike. I’d taken some of your enthusiasm and tips today in my photography » still to check all. Opened my phone and alert to this video. Scottish weather does get sunshine, but I kind of like the moody skies for photos. I’m in agreement with you on “light”. Lived in Spain for a year with so so much light, and it worked. Spectacular photos again here with tips on ‘how to’. Thank you very much on sharing (again)…. 👍
Hey Henry, l‘m a big fan of your videos. You insprire me in my own way! Thanks a lot. Compliment from the middle of Germany. Go on, your way ist beautiful!
If you like Skye and don't want to take standard shots, go to Rhum. It's the same scenery but no roads and hardly any people and virtually no photographers. A bit harder to get to, but well worth it!
While looking for the location of the water fall on Google maps, found a monument for Flora Macdonald, which led to the Skye Boat Song, which led to the show Outlander. Scotland has beautiful scenery and lots of interesting history.
Talisker beach is sooo beautiful 😍 but Elgol is truly amazing that is why we got married on the beach there last April. We stayed in the house at the pier, where you parked. Stunning images yet again.
I hope to see some of these images in the 2023 calendar. God gave you a glorious day to match your creative skills. The sky was perfect for every composition. There was great contrast and unique colors in everything. I am not exaggerating in saying this video really inspired me and your wit made me laugh. A great treat before I begin my work day.
Just come back from a week in Skye, same conditions with some snow on the mountains - what an amazing place and so few people there this time of year, and no midges!
Wow, what a trip you've had. The way you were on that beach is exactly how I am. I am a obsessed with water movements especially at sunrise. The last couple of outings around Paignton I've been like a kid in a candy shop. I always take test shots to see what sort of shutter speed I need for the speed of the water. When I get what I feel is right, I will keep my finger on my remote at the beginning of the wave and mot release till the wave recedes. The beauty of the D500 is it's 200 shot buffer. Last week I took over 1400 shots. I loved every shot you did. Looking forward to seeing your van conversation . Regards Steve from Paignton
I'm not sure who gets more out of watching your vids, you support wise or me for the enjoyment value. But its my pleasure entirely to support you. My daughter bought me the photographing Scotland book AND your calendar for Xmas. Love every thing about the Isle of Skye, super images and yes light is a matter of opinion and I guess what you are used to. We have a lot of sunlight here so you became used to shooting with it, I do enjoy taking storm photos though. Look forward to the next one.
Blood and sand young Henry lad!!! Stunners each and every one of those photos. but hey you're in the right country for outstanding photography. I have only been to Skye once since I moved to Scotland and I did the usual photo tourist jaunts as directed by the fotovue book & another TH-cam channel (based on Skye) and as you say there is so much to explore and so many fantastic vistas everywhere you turn. stunning lad - just stunning
Brilliant Henry, You are absolutely right, who cares about the light all the time, just take the shot. You captured some great image's. We are going to Skye sometime next month for a couple of night's and hope to get some nice image's.
Great video, Henry. Fed up with TH-cam photographers who need the 'light' before they can take the shot. I live in Northern Ireland and we have similar scenery, weather and light on the coast. Nice to see what you can make of this kind of photography.
Lovely photos, Henry. Thanks for this video. I really like the subtle light in your photos. For some reason in the US the brilliant red and orange skies at the biggest hit, but really prefer your type of photos.
Not always having the opportunity to get out in “perfect” conditions I 100% agree on the light issue. If you enjoy photography then just getting out and enjoying the experience is key. Love the photos in this video. Particularly the the one between the rocks. Great video as always. 👍
YES YES YES !! So glad you got to Elgol lol I get so excited every time I get here 😊 I jumped out my chair and punched the air like Liverpool just scored the winner tomorrow hahahaha when I saw you had come to this amazing place . You have got amazing images with the red one being the winner here for me, Think I’ll be purchasing it as all my ones are of the classic compositions 😉
I think the real skill is being able to use the available light effectively rather than type of light. I find I will adjust my compositions based on the light and clouds.
Thanks for the continued inspiration. Fully appreciate the random expressions only a pom would recognize! You, and a few others really do provide some motivation. Cheers!
Henry, I always love your positive attitude toward photography and life in general. Thanks for another great video. This included some of my favorite photos that I’ve seen you shoot!
Great images, without great light, I know Skye quite well, and in fact stop a couple of times a year in one of the holiday lets directly behind the car park at Elgol, on some days the light can change in seconds !
This has been my favourite video of yours so far, and I think I have watched them all! I don't know how you have the patience to wait until you get home from your trips to view them on your computer. Are you not tempted to take a lappy with you?
Yeah great video! Sun light not required, in fact now I realise that cloudy days are better due to more even lighting/less dynamic range is a massive bonus as well as being able to shoot in the middle of the day instead of getting up at stupid o'clock or getting in so late the takeaway has closed so it's 2 min noodles AGAIN! Sorry I got carried away, it's an on going debate with a friend lol. Thanks Henry you've given me ammo, I'll share this video with him.
Another great vid, Henry. I know Skye pretty well, but I didn't know that first bay with the black sand - guess where I'm going next time I'm on Skye! Loved the Elgol shots too, the Black Cuillin make a stunning backdrop to anything, but finding that little channel make a different and unique view.
Stunning images to match stunning scenery. As for "honeypots", I'll happily take a photo. It's my photo and if it gives me pleasure so what if it is a "honeypot"? Cheers. Ken
Scavaig’s Blood really spoke to me, Henry. I so enjoy all of your videos; you make it seem like we’re all walking beside you. I have found myself using your “there’s your dinner” saying and I am sure it will be adopted here in the States within the year. 😅 Keep up the great work!
Agree with this. I'm mainly a fairer weather sunrise/sunset hunter. I've just come back from Glencoe yesterday where I got the amazing sunrise I went for. But the fantastic light through the day left me comparing that day's conditions to the grey and gloomy conditions the week previous for a shot I got at the 3 sisters. Sometimes overcast and wild conditions enhance the shot in certain locations.
Mate...once again a brilliant video. And you're humility and sincerity shines through. Your videos are really great for making me feel like I'm on the adventure alongside you, experiencing it all first hand. Keep it up!
Hi Henry I went there my self and the wind was really bad the water fall was going upwards. Got some photos but was a bit disappointed with them. I will go again in a bit better wether sometime. Love the photos and the video was spot on as always. 👍
yes Henry, inspiring, entertaining and very informative. That's why i am here each week.. Fabulous first image.. great sky detail and loving the Zebra stripes.. immediately followed with another brill image of the headland and beach.. but it is the shot afterward which excited me.. the rocks in the foreground look phenomenal, with their swirly patterns showing the water's passage. Love this subtle palette. i think the light is better placed than in the last image. Absolutely gorgeous runoff over the rocks and lovely Rùm shrouded in mist and cloud as a distant backdrop, who needs sun??? Wow Henry there's so many fab images in this week's edition. The shot of the channel: i'm drawn to the gouged out channels in the rocks, under your feet. The colour is so unexpected but brilliant. the foreground is very abstract looking and, for me, would make an image on it's own.. Thank you Henry.. As ever, looking forward to our next adventure..
Hi Henry, new to the channel, good videos and banter, you said in the video what more could you want, I have a suggestion for you. Get your map of Scotland out and look for a place called Kinloch Hourn. It is down a single track road about 6mls after the Invagary turn off on the road to Skye, you will not be disappointed, about 2mls from the end of the road the landscape is phenomenal, a Loch, trees, and mountains all we could ever want for landscapes
One of the best mate. Some of those images are just top class. The first image with sandy Zebra stripes and at 24:40 are my favourites. Also good to see other areas of Skye not so popular on your trip. 👍
I know the feeling with the "polite" messages on signs.. Here in the Netherlands it's also all "do this, don't do that", and I've been wondering before why they can't just be polite about it? 🤷♀ But what a great trip you had in Scotland, it's so beautiful there and you got such stunning images!! Enjoyed watching the videos!
Super video thanks, entertaining, informative and inspiring as ever. Even though a sassenach I love (almost) everything about Scotland and hope there's no Indyref 2 to risk separation. "Everything" means mountains, rivers, people, food, tunnocks, whisky, welcome. No offence to any Scots but the "almost" is to cover Tennents (the trigger at the start of the video for this comment) and midgies, you can keep them both!
I agree, some of my best pictures have been on cloudy stormy days. It adds emotion and feeling to the picture that more than makes up for lack of light. This is dependent on having newer/better equipment though or a tripod and no motion. Not that you can't use older or lower end equipment but as you know it will definitely make it more challenging especially for beginners. Thanks for your videos as usual!
Wonderful images Henry. With regard to light, when I was a member of a photo club, you could guarantee that when a judge looked at members' images they would come up with "you need light" or "you've got the wrong light". In some cases they may have been right, but you have made me look at clouds in images in a much more creative way.
What a bonus, more videos in last few day than you can shake a stick at. Stunning shots from your last day on Skye. Loved the one where you were perched on the rock and looking through to mountains in background. Now i know where your "henrythusiasm" comes from, its Lucosade and Iron Brew. Is there anything different you have to do when focus stacking with moving waves in the shot?
Hi Henry, I've been out to that bay once, but long to go again I made the big mistake of of planning to be there at high tide how wrong was I, although I still got some nice shots I will plan my next trip for a lower tide, I also agree make the most of the light your given & enjoy your time where ever you are. Regards Alan
Wow Henry your photography has really jumped to the next level, I’ve been following you from the very start and you are so confident now filming and talking to camera well done you x
What can I add to all the other comments Henry? Just an outstanding set of images again (love the "red rocks" one at Elgol). I wouldn't worry about the popularity of locations - nothing ever stays the same and what I like to see is your acceptance that clouds and drama in the sky are a perfect opportunity that accentuates the brutality of the land at times. I need to get back to Scotland asap and your video diaries have certainly ignited the desire for me to get it done. Please keep up the marvellous work - you cram so much information and good humour into what you do. I love every minute of them. Thank you so much. :-)
I was on the Isle of Skye in September, and also visited Elgol (twice) - amazing location and so many photographic options with changing tides and weather - you got some cracking photos there on your trip 👍
Hi guys, thought I'd put this video out tonight anyway since it's all uploaded haha - enjoy :D
Awesome mate. Keep living the dream Henry 👍🏻. All the best from Australia 🇳🇿🇳🇿
Blimey Henry, cant knock your hard work.
Take a bit off time out and sit down with a pot of tea or a pint 😀
Don't go stay longer. Love your video's.
Just answering your question...
Yes, still enjoying your channel.
I've said this before, we think of you as one of us. You don't preach at us or talk down to us. We share your highs and lows, it makes you more human.

Agreed 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm with you on that one Ken. Honeypot locations or frequently visited locations are always an instant in time, and the person capturing that moment makes it their own!
That feeling when you open up TH-cam and there's a one hour old video from Henry Turner. Thank you.
I couldn't agree more with your "rant" about light! There is always something good to expect when you're out shooting if you stay in a positive frame of mind...
Your images in this video were amazing! Who needs light? Certainly not you! Great job! Thanks for taking us there!
@3:47 I laugh at your idea of a “wave coming in”. Check out the Oregon coast. Pacific Ocean waves, they REALLY come in! Come see me Henry! I’ll show you.
Two videos in one day - Go Henry!!!
Yes! Love the shot of red in foreground and mountain - epic. Love your work and explanations. You teach, I learn.
As for Elgol, I would be happy to visit a million times - The limpet clad coloured rocks, the Cuillins in the background - Dream World - When I got back home, I just had to do a painting of that view.
Excellent pictures. Black and white, moody and silky. Loved them all.
Absolutely agree. A strong composition, such as a lone tree, set against an interesting cloud formation, is a massive part of my photography. Direct light is often not present in my images
I’m speechless at the result of you “zebra” photo. And I will be trying photo stacking. Thanks so much
Shot at 24:26 is your best yet
Magnificent

Your TH-cam’s are informative, humorous, and well produced. Simply awesome and fun to watch.
Truly, truly inspirational, Henry.

Great points about light. Should never be an excuse not to get out. Thanks.
Surely you are the most poetic landscape photographer. I love your narration. BTW the rule of thumb is the 7th wave is the largest.
And many thanks right back to you Henry... I assure you it's a mutually beneficial relationship.
If you like Skye and don't want to take standard shots, go to Rhum. It's the same scenery but no roads and hardly any people and virtually no photographers. A bit harder to get to, but well worth it!

Brilliant vlog ! the coast is magical ! that shot at 24.45 definietly potential for shot of the trip !! Glad you got home safe.

Let's get this dream forever!
Amazing images Henry, well done. Agreed. you don't always need good light. moody skies make great pictures.
Brilliant Henry,
You are absolutely right, who cares about the light all the time, just take the shot.
You captured some great image's.
We are going to Skye sometime next month for a couple of night's and hope to get some nice image's.
One word. 'Inspiring'
Great video, Henry. Fed up with TH-cam photographers who need the 'light' before they can take the shot. I live in Northern Ireland and we have similar scenery, weather and light on the coast. Nice to see what you can make of this kind of photography.
That shot at 14:51! whoa! Your enthusiasm for landscapes and photographing them comes through 1,000%. Keep up the good work
Lovely photos, Henry. Thanks for this video. I really like the subtle light in your photos. For some reason in the US the brilliant red and orange skies at the biggest hit, but really prefer your type of photos.

Another Great Adventure. Two nights in the Car is my limit, lol. Thanks Henry.

Thanks for the continued inspiration. Fully appreciate the random expressions only a pom would recognize! You, and a few others really do provide some motivation. Cheers!
@5:36 Seagulls in the background - emphasis good subject :)
Again, Henry...super stunning shots from a mega-memorable trip. T
Hello Henry, stunning images .
You are right about the light. It was very inspirational video.
This has been my favourite video of yours so far, and I think I have watched them all! I don't know how you have the patience to wait until you get home from your trips to view them on your computer. Are you not tempted to take a lappy with you?

Wonderful Henry, just wonderful ! Stunning locations and stunning shots. Thank you so much!
Stunning images to match stunning scenery. As for "honeypots", I'll happily take a photo. It's my photo and if it gives me pleasure so what if it is a "honeypot"? Cheers. Ken
Another fine video Henry! I love how excited you get over a 2” wave…… great stuff.
Scavaig’s Blood really spoke to me, Henry. I so enjoy all of your videos; you make it seem like we’re all walking beside you. I have found myself using your “there’s your dinner” saying and I am sure it will be adopted here in the States within the year. 😅 Keep up the great work!
The third one is also Nice.
STUNNING! Some cracking images Henry. You captured Scotland at it best …. Moody & Mystical 💙🏴💙
Mate...once again a brilliant video. And you're humility and sincerity shines through. Your videos are really great for making me feel like I'm on the adventure alongside you, experiencing it all first hand. Keep it up!
Much appreciated!
Hi Henry I went there my self and the wind was really bad the water fall was going upwards. Got some photos but was a bit disappointed with them. I will go again in a bit better wether sometime. Love the photos and the video was spot on as always. 👍
These are some of your best images!
yes Henry, inspiring, entertaining and very informative.
Thanks very much it was a brill adventure this one 🙏🏼
Amezing second picture
Love your enthusiasm, what great opportunities at that location
Hi Henry, new to the channel, good videos and banter, you said in the video what more could you want, I have a suggestion for you. Get your map of Scotland out and look for a place called Kinloch Hourn. It is down a single track road about 6mls after the Invagary turn off on the road to Skye, you will not be disappointed, about 2mls from the end of the road the landscape is phenomenal, a Loch, trees, and mountains all we could ever want for landscapes
Wow, absolutely wonderful photos Henry, many thanks for some great videos and the shots you have taken. Simply amazing! All the very best Graham.
Cracking video Henry, the last two images are absolutely stunning 🙂📸👍
Henry, I love the photographs in this Vlog. I love watching as your enthusiasm it is inspiring !
Henry, the stuff is just stunning! THANKS for providing the inspiration.
One of the best mate. Some of those images are just top class. The first image with sandy Zebra stripes and at 24:40 are my favourites. Also good to see other areas of Skye not so popular on your trip. 👍
Henry, som absolutely stunning shots from the beach. Great adventure all around
What a great trip Henry, some class photos, loved watching you road trip as always keep up the good work 👍👍
Absolutely like your opinion about light!
Nice images from Talisker Bay. Never seen it so calm, always blowing a gale when I have been.
Dramatic and beautiful images! Well done!
Smashed it again 👍
Elgol is one of my favourite spots on Skye
Epic Henry! Stunning images from a beautiful place 📸❤️ keep up the good work 🙂
I know the feeling with the "polite" messages on signs..
Great video! Absolutely stonking images - I'm green with envy. Inspirational indeed. Thank you!
Fine video. Most enjoyable. I always get a mood lift watching your enthusiasm. You came away with some nice images for your time out.
Absolutely top drawer, Henry!
Totally lovin it and I’m only 5 mins in, thank you sooo much mate. Further in I agree about the light comment
If you had some sun hitting the falls, it would be like the famous Horsetail falls in Yosemite!
Hello, great photos from Skye. Can i ask what remote shutter release you are using now with the Z7, thanks
Just a cheap one from Amazon, I need a new one actually. The brand is 'shoot'
Brilliant video Henry. Love your pic of the narrow channel 👏👏
Absolutely awesome locations mate. Stunning images too. 👌
I was on the Isle of Skye in September, and also visited Elgol (twice) - amazing location and so many photographic options with changing tides and weather - you got some cracking photos there on your trip 👍
Stunning captures as always Henry thanks for sharing 👍
So glad I found your channel...
Once again an awesome video and the 2nd to last channel shot 👏 Skye is definitely on my list to visit as part of the NC500.
You are very good with the foreground interest. I need to work on that. Thank you.
