Thank you thank you thank you. So much footage of just sailing, watching the waves flow off the bow and watching the wake. No music. I love it. This is what I really enjoy about sailing. To me a heavy mono-hull is the only way to really enjoy sailing. A cat is more flat and easier but the motion of a mono-hull can't be beat. I love this video. I didn't know how wonderful it would be to have no music drowning out the sound of the boat through the waves. Just wonderful.
Glad you enjoyed the sailing. We agree, we love the natural sounds. And any music track will be a matter of individual taste .... some will like some will not.

I can and have watched the wake for hours. It is incredibly soothing as you must know. The views of the pointy end slicing the water is quite enjoyable.

@@SailCloudyBay I must add to my comment..many times you pointed the camera as I would be seeing as a passenger what is going on for and aft also you let the camera stay on gauges for a longer period of time so I could really see the info..would it be unacceptable for me to ask the cost of this beauty and if so that's fine:)

I would say Cloudy is worth about US$900k with her condition and all the auxillary equipment installed.

Yeah, this has been our most popular video for some reason. But it was certainly a good passage. Thundering along, as I like to say. And yes, that genoa sure does have some power. If we ever roll it away and take out the stay-sail instead, its like we just lost 1/2 the cylinders of the engine!
Thank you for this video - exactly what I needed on a Saturday morning after a stressful work week! The camera work on the boat was excellent; gave me a good feel for what it's like to be on the boat (without the sea sickness!). I agree that only having the ambient, actual sound, and no music, is best.

It’s amazing how stable the big boats are even in 3-4 meter waves! If you were sailing in a 30 footer you would barely be able to stand. Love the vids.
This video is the next best thing besides actually crewing with you - as I mentioned before, one wonders a bit at the absence of PFD - roaring along at 10 knts in heavy seas, in my humble opinion, calls for wearing these lifesavers - no hesitation. It I were fortunate enough to captan this wonderful crew, that would be my "Ordre du jour"
Thanks for the nice comment Pierre. And you are not the first to observe our PFD habits. This is a personal choice for me. If waves are crashing on deck then I always wear one, and a harness. When we left Bermuda and we were uncertain of the sea conditions, you saw that we had PFDs on. The other factor is this: Oana really does not know how to control the yacht and doesn't want to learn. So in reality, if I go over the side even with PFD on, Oana is never going to get back to me. And if I have a harness I'd be drowned beside the boat before she could slow it down. So in general, I prefer not to have the false security when wearing those and instead make damned sure I hold on tightly while also moving freely. Like I say, personal choice. Any visitors on the boat are made to wear PFD, because they are unfamiliar with the boat and I know I can get back to them if they fall overboard.
Hi, good video and well done for your adventures. If the jack lines are as central as possible and you walk on the windward side, and harness tether is not long you should not be in the water drowning if you lose balance; I noticed the loose upwind running backstay a couple of times- surely that should be firm and the downwind side loose or stowed? Also I haven’t heard a sail referred to as a cutter before, is it not a jib on the inner forestay, making the boat cutter rigged (or overall a slutter rig - sloop/cutter)? I enjoy your videos. You keep the boat in very good condition.

Jim, thanks for the nice comment. The video is actually uploaded in full 4K. There is no higher definition possible. Take a look at your viewing settings. Maybe it pulled down to a lower definition to match your internet speed?

Watching a Catamaran sail at 18 knots with a double reef, in what was a relatively calm sea state was the last straw for me with one channel (GWTW) and (LV) monetizing their pregnancy finally broke my resolve. The shots before you reefed (@26 min) were phenomenal!! I could watch hours of just that, love the sound of the water! I am a little surprised how wet the foredeck gets.....then again you were booking it and you had some rolling waves! She’s a beast, what a beautiful boat, love how much care and attention you give her and your equipment, something every owner should strive to be!👍🏻🍻
yeah we were rather pushing it, and slightly upwind into Atlantic swell. But you are right she is a little more wet on the foredeck than I would have expected. It might be do with having 100m chain, 2 anchors and a heavy bow sprit up there, not to mention a fair bit of weight in the fore cabin.
@@SailCloudyBay yeah I’m sure all that extra weight doesn’t help but then again I always thought the she cut thru the waves beautifully! My neighbor in the marina has a HB 37, always admired her. One day he finally gave me a tour and two things jumped out to me. The first thing is the quality of the boat, very well built, details are phenomenal, it just screamed quality. But the other thing, and this one really surprised me (you don’t have this problem 😎) is how compact everything was!! It felt small and a little cramp, specially having to bow down so that you can get into the aft cabin. It seems to that anything under 40’ on the HR feels a bit tight?? Having said that, she was beautiful and sailed very well and faster than one thinks. Did you look at other boats when you were looking to buy? By the way, she looks like she’s 2 years old! You do an exceptional job with her upkeep. You must be an engineer. 😬
Yes, looked at several other boats: Oyster, Discovery and Amel. Didnt like th quality of Oyster. Amel and Discovery were good quality but we didnt like the designs. Most other boats that I would lump together as "Charter fleet" boats with terrible quality. Built like cheap caravans. They look great in boat shows but you only have to open a few cupboards to see they are not strong and wont last Ocean passages. You are right on the smaller HRs. But its a fact with all aft cabin yachts below say 42ft that the aft cabin entrance is small. I once had a Moody346 with aft cabin and we almost had to crawl to get into it!
@@svgitana2499 In general they are not bad. But I know so many who have had massive problems with brand new boats and older boats worse. Plus the company has been through soooo many different ownerships with different management. One thing Oyster got very right in the beginning, which set them on a good commercial course, was VERY good marketing, giving them a Super Yacht type image.

Its like being there riding the waves feeling the swell ,Something intangible in the way your camera drinks up the feeling and delivers it gracefully quenching a thirst that we'd forgotten was there. Quite a heel and bounce on that trip. I would be interested in some technical info about sailing when you show these excellent videos, such as: how do you play with the sail area of the jib/genoa/cutter relative to the mainsail and what the effect of different changes are; you mentioned loosening the vang to spill some wind on gusts, how do jib/etc sails change this relationship, und so weiter. very awesome video. I really enjoyed this video because you're actually showing sailing footage. I want to see the ocean swells and the boat and how the boat handles the swells. If I were to gauge this video, I would say that it was more sailing footage than social video which is what I like the most. other channels talk so much and show food etc. which is ok, but don't let that be the majority of the video. I want to sail but I can't. I want to be on the water but I can't. So when I watch sailing adventures, I want to see that and you've covered the sailing splendidly! Keep up the great work! keep that camera on the water as you did in this video. Bravo!......Noli .

When I'm old and in a rocking chair I want to remember the sailing and adventures we had, not how we ate, slept and lived every day :-) Just so you know: We don't like to do drama (unless its sailing related!), we are not a reality show and we certainly don't want to publicly display our private lives aboard. We actually make these videos for our own memories and only put them onto You Tube for our Family and Friends to see what we are doing. We don't do it for money nor glory. If people enjoy watching them, fine. If not they are plenty of other channels out there.
Wishing you guys a very happy new year 2019 in just a few hours wherever you are today, I'm here sitting enjoying a rum Don Q on the rocks and ran across this video. In 15 years of watching Utube videos of this nature, I've never found one that is so real and relaxing as this one. It really took me way back to when I had my sailboat in San Francisco Bay for 15 years, and before that, I cruised in the Caribbean aboard a 54' ketch with a friend. Your video is simply magnificent! I felt every bit of the boat movement, all the noises took me so many places, and I've watched only half and had to stop to write this. It is also great that there is no silly talk, no music, and truly if you are isolated like me right now (my office is noise proof) then you can really get into the daily routine of the boat. Also, the shots were crazy, especially the shots from the back towards the front with the bow breaking into the waves were epic. The shots from the top of the mast were also great. Overall, this is the #1 video I've ever watched. It calmed me down to a ridiculous heart rate, and I felt totally at peace. 20 years ago I fell from the mast and broke my back and subsequently had to sell my last sailboat, so now I only have my Goldwing motorcycle to entertain me. I can read from the comments that everybody loves the video as I did. I subscribed.

Going up the mast is one of the few things that we really take very seriously when it comes to safety. There would be no going back from falling from the top ... as you know. Enjoy your Goldwing. We are have a small HD Sportster back in Bucharest (Horris the Hog) which we love around town, but we really want a good touring bike for out of town .... and there is no better bike than the Goldwing. Yep, she is the most stable yacht in a running sea that I've ever sailed on. We never get land-wobble no matter how long we have been on board.

This video is the next best thing besides actually crewing with you - as I mentioned before, one wonders a bit at the absence of PFD - roaring along at 10 knts in heavy seas, in my humble opinion, calls for wearing these lifesavers - no hesitation. It I were fortunate enough to captan this wonderful crew, that would be my "Ordre du jour"
Thanks for the nice comment Pierre. And you are not the first to observe our PFD habits. This is a personal choice for me. If waves are crashing on deck then I always wear one, and a harness. When we left Bermuda and we were uncertain of the sea conditions, you saw that we had PFDs on. The other factor is this: Oana really does not know how to control the yacht and doesn't want to learn. So in reality, if I go over the side even with PFD on, Oana is never going to get back to me. And if I have a harness I'd be drowned beside the boat before she could slow it down. So in general, I prefer not to have the false security when wearing those and instead make damned sure I hold on tightly while also moving freely. Like I say, personal choice. Any visitors on the boat are made to wear PFD, because they are unfamiliar with the boat and I know I can get back to them if they fall overboard.
Hi, good video and well done for your adventures. If the jack lines are as central as possible and you walk on the windward side, and harness tether is not long you should not be in the water drowning if you lose balance; I noticed the loose upwind running backstay a couple of times- surely that should be firm and the downwind side loose or stowed? Also I haven’t heard a sail referred to as a cutter before, is it not a jib on the inner forestay, making the boat cutter rigged (or overall a slutter rig - sloop/cutter)?

Watching a Catamaran sail at 18 knots with a double reef, in what was a relatively calm sea state was the last straw for me with one channel (GWTW) and (LV) monetizing their pregnancy finally broke my resolve. Yep it was big swell out there. Somehow the camera never quite shows the extent of wave height or sea conditions compared to the naked eye.
Love your video. I did a similar one sailing from Vancouver to Hawaii and concentrated on the sailing, not hiking!

The shots before you reefed (@26 min) were phenomenal!! I could watch hours of just that, love the sound of the water! I am a little surprised how wet the foredeck gets.....then again you were booking it and you had some rolling waves!
She’s a beast, what a beautiful boat, love how much care and attention you give her and your equipment, something every owner should strive to be!👍🏻🍻
yeah we were rather pushing it, and slightly upwind into Atlantic swell. But you are right she is a little more wet on the foredeck than I would have expected. It might be do with having 100m chain, 2 anchors and a heavy bow sprit up there, not to mention a fair bit of weight in the fore cabin.

My neighbor in the marina has a HB 37, always admired her. One day he finally gave me a tour and two things jumped out to me. The first thing is the quality of the boat, very well built, details are phenomenal, it just screamed quality. But the other thing, and this one really surprised me (you don’t have this problem 😎) is how compact everything was!! It felt small and a little cramp, specially having to bow down so that you can get into the aft cabin. It seems to that anything under 40’ on the HR feels a bit tight??
Having said that, she was beautiful and sailed very well and faster than one thinks.
Did you look at other boats when you were looking to buy? By the way, she looks like she’s 2 years old! You do an exceptional job with her upkeep. You must be an engineer. 😬
Yes, looked at several other boats: Oyster, Discovery and Amel. Didnt like th quality of Oyster. Amel and Discovery were good quality but we didnt like the designs. Most other boats that I would lump together as "Charter fleet" boats with terrible quality. Built like cheap caravans. They look great in boat shows but you only have to open a few cupboards to see they are not strong and wont last Ocean passages.
You are right on the smaller HRs. But its a fact with all aft cabin yachts below say 42ft that the aft cabin entrance is small. I once had a Moody346 with aft cabin and we almost had to crawl to get into it!

@@svgitana2499 In general they are not bad. But I know so many who have had massive problems with brand new boats and older boats worse. Plus the company has been through soooo many different ownerships with different management. One thing Oyster got very right in the beginning, which set them on a good commercial course, was VERY good marketing, giving them a Super Yacht type image.

Quite a heel and bounce on that trip. I would be interested in some technical info about sailing when you show these excellent videos, such as: how do you play with the sail area of the jib/genoa/cutter relative to the mainsail and what the effect of different changes are; you mentioned loosening the vang to spill some wind on gusts, how do jib/etc sails change this relationship, und so weiter. Terrific video. Thank you.

very awesome video. I really enjoyed this video because you're actually showing sailing footage. I want to see the ocean swells and the boat and how the boat handles the swells. If I were to gauge this video, I would say that it was more sailing footage than social video which is what I like the most. other channels talk so much and show food etc. which is ok, but don't let that be the majority of the video. I want to sail but I can't. I want to be on the water but I can't. So when I watch sailing adventures, I want to see that and you've covered the sailing splendidly! Keep up the great work! keep that camera on the water as you did in this video. Bravo!......Noli

Just so you know: We don't like to do drama (unless its sailing related!), we are not a reality show and we certainly don't want to publicly display our private lives aboard. We actually make these videos for our own memories and only put them onto You Tube for our Family and Friends to see what we are doing. We don't do it for money nor glory. If people enjoy watching them, fine. If not they are plenty of other channels out there.

Wishing you guys a very happy new year 2019 in just a few hours wherever you are today, I'm here sitting enjoying a rum Don Q on the rocks and ran across this video. In 15 years of watching Utube videos of this nature, I've never found one that is so real and relaxing as this one. It really took me way back to when I had my sailboat in San Francisco Bay for 15 years, and before that, I cruised in the Caribbean aboard a 54' ketch with a friend. Your video is simply magnificent! I felt every bit of the boat movement, all the noises took me so many places, and I've watched only half and had to stop to write this. It is also great that there is no silly talk, no music, and truly if you are isolated like me right now (my office is noise proof) then you can really get into the daily routine of the boat. Also, the shots were crazy, especially the shots from the back towards the front with the bow breaking into the waves were epic. The shots from the top of the mast were also great. Overall, this is the #1 video I've ever watched. It calmed me down to a ridiculous heart rate, and I felt totally at peace. 20 years ago I fell from the mast and broke my back and subsequently had to sell my last sailboat, so now I only have my Goldwing motorcycle to entertain me. I can read from the comments that everybody loves the video as I did. I subscribed.

Going up the mast is one of the few things that we really take very seriously when it comes to safety. There would be no going back from falling from the top ... as you know.
