Usually this laptop came with a OPTANE memory on m.2 slot, so, Can I change the mechanical HDD SATA to a SSD like you show us in this video and keep the Optane there, or we need to remove the Optane ? Thanks.

regarding your question: you could keep the optane , but its recommended to remove it if you upgraded to ssd 2.5' . the optane its like a buffer for the HDD, by keeping it you are delaying the file transfer so very little more. i would say remove it if you can. because you want your files to go directly to RAM/CPU not to buffer then ram/Cpu and back to buffer and back to ssd.

regarding your question: the ssd can go up to 4TB without any problem, and m.2 pci-e it can go up to 4tb nvme and its compatible with m.2 sata.

Regarding your question, if you have the OS on your hdd and want to add m.2 you can and it won't affect the OS, but having the OS on HDD and having m.2 without OS in it, it is like having million dollar but can't touch it 🫠
install the m.2 and install windows in that and have the HDD for extra storage.

I have a 330S with 256 GB SSD. I want to increase my SSD. Do I add an additional SSD to the existing, or do I replace the 256 with a another bigger one? and how to do it? does the brand matter?
Regarding your question, if you only have a 256gb ssd then you have to remove that and install a bigger ssd and also you will need to install windows from usb to the new ssd and back up your files.

thanks for the video, very helpful! I have a question: The windows installed on pc will not be available any more, right? should we copy the licence key etc? So we can activate it later? I have bought a used one now and it comes tomorrow and i would directly order a ssd and upgrade it. Wouldn't do any mistake :)

regarding your question: just turn it on and make sure there is no account associated to the windows. link your Hotmail account to the windows and it will transfer the Lic key to your Hotmail account and once you got new windows installed on ssd just use you Hotmail account and it will activate your windows in the same laptop as it uses the MAC ID of the motherboard to know that its the same laptop.

Hi I have bought laptop from store and in came with pre-installed /Activated windows now if I change to SSD drive and do fresh installation will I be able to activate windows ? My windows license shows digitally activated and lync with my Microsoft account.

regarding your question: the windows Lic, is attached to your registered MS account, once you format and sign in with your registered MS account and it will activate automatically. regarding the right SSD, any SSD 2.5" is compatible but the best in the class is the samsung SSD, the bigger the ssd capacity the longer life span.

Regarding your question, My friend, I need more details on what you have and what you want to do. Does your Lenovo have a 2.5" SSD, an m.2 SSD, or an m.2 SSD and HDD? You can check to see what you have on Task Manager under Performance. Once you have clarified what you actually have, I need to know what you want to do. Is your external HDD in an enclosure or is it just a naked 2.5" slim HDD?
Also, please keep in mind that there is an m.2 SSD located under the black shield, as seen in this video: th-cam.com/video/FCgMvVXe9vg/w-d-xo.html

@@uFixTek Thanks for your quick response. My Lenovo 330S presently has a 256 GB SSD (Samsung MZVLW256HEHP-000L2). I have a WD Elements External Drive (1TB), which is in a case & not naked. I would like to put this external drive into my Lenovo laptop, so I don't have to carry it with me externally.
I have never opened my Laptop, so don't have pictures.

ok you have a m.2 ssd in your laptop, you can't add the " WD Elements External Drive (1TB)" because WD made this HDD so people can't use them as internal, they removed the SATA interface and placed a usb port directly on HDD board :(
and 2nd reason is even lets say that it had a SATA interface its to thick of HDD to fit in the laptop, this laptop only takes slim 2.5" HDD

sorry to inform you about this, but some other brands external drives do use slim hdd with sata interface inside.

yes it does because the m.2 its a PCI-E lane and nvme needs PCI-e lane.

Why my hdd not detected?
When me use ssd m.2
double check the connection, it should be working, check if your bios is updated. we install them both all the time for clients.
