Yes guys, Dimash does play his voice like an instrument. He plays with the edges of what is possible for the voice. The reason vocal coaches are so impressed with the breathiness in the beginning for instance is that its almost impossible to have control at the edges of the voice like this. Think of a volume control dial and just cranking from nothing to audible to a bit more, etc. No one else can do these things. He's like an athlete breaking his own records, and no one else can even compete. Also as you noticed his behavior with the mic- he studies this. With such a sensitive mic, no one else would try without a filter on the mic, but Dimash is using his movements in and out and around the mic as a filter.

Your Christmas album gave me an idea. Maybe some day he could do a rendition of some popular scary or cheerful Kazak childrens stories or legends. Dress up and do a whole music video. It would be fun for Dimash plus a great way to get Kazak legends and stories out into the world.😏 There must be Kazak stories similar to Aladdin or Billy Goats Gruff. Thoroughly enjoyed this reaction. This was his first time singing in Japanese, but not the first time performing this song. He's done it in Chinese at a competition and his concerts. That version is called, Autumn Strong. This was his second year performing in his studio for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. Actually the closed captions for this song are excellent. This is a well-known Japanese classic and the lyrics in English have been extremely well translated. He has been training since he was five and he has the ability to do an excellent vocal fry and the growl as well as rock screams. Due to his excellent vocal technique he can do that in a healthy manner without it hurting his voice. You will hear it eventually as you listen to more.

DIMASH la cantó por primera vez en chino en el concurso I'm Singer 20017en China; nunca lo habia hecho solo tenía 22 años y sus competidores muchimo mayores, bellísima interpretación. Dimash no descubrió a su pianista al contrario, Igor Krutoy dejó su jubilación para componer y dar sus canciones a Dimash cuando lo conoció y quedó impresionado por su voz .

This version "Ikanaide" (行かないで) ) is the original, from 1989, composed by Koji Tamaki (famous Japanese singer, born in 1958) with lyrics by Goro Matsui. The version "Autumn Strong" (Late Autumn), sung in Chinese, uses the same song, but has another lyrics (Yaqui Cheung, from 1993) and another theme: It talks about the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi, very dear to the Chinese, who was deported when they discovered her Japanese origin (his real name was Li Xiang Lan and we're talking about World War II, where Japan was China's enemy) and never returned to China. In the original version, the lyrics are more intimate, sentimental and more recognized worldwide. It means: "Please don't go!". Yes guys, Dimash does play his voice like an instrument. He plays with the edges of what is possible for the voice. The reason vocal coaches are so impressed with the breathiness in the beginning for instance is that its almost impossible to have control at the edges of the voice like this. Think of a volume control dial and just cranking from nothing to audible to a bit more, etc. No one else can do these things. He's like an athlete breaking his own records, and no one else can even compete. Also as you noticed his behavior with the mic- he studies this. With such a sensitive mic, no one else would try without a filter on the mic, but Dimash is using his movements in and out and around the mic as a filter.

Thoroughly enjoyed this reaction. This was his first time singing in Japanese, but not the first time performing this song. He's done it in Chinese at a competition and his concerts. That version is called, Autumn Strong. This was his second year performing in his studio for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. YES, he does remind you of the opera ladies singing on stage in the cartoons....lol. Just waaaayyyyy better. Looking forward to next Monday!

I agree. Sometimes he's a violin, sometimes a flute, sometimes an electric guitar. He does use vocal fry in small amounts, but he knows how to protect his voice. "Love Is Like a Dream" is one of the songs where he uses it and a more extreme example that he frequently starts with like it's a Dimash motto: "Ascolta la voce" = listen to the voice.

When Dimash sings in his operatic baritone he sound like a middle-aged portly opera guy, like Pavarotti. In operatic soprano, just as you said, the Bugs Bunny cartoon of the fat opera lady in the viking costume singing "Ride of the Valkyries". It's surprising that he's so thin. If Dimash sang "The Nightmare Before Christmas" soundtrack, he could sing every track...Jack's Song, Sally's Song, and Oogie Boogie's Song 😂 You haven't seen Dimash use vocal fry yet, but he does. Actually the closed captions for this song are excellent. This is a well-known Japanese classic and the lyrics in English have been extremely well translated.
He has been training since he was five and he has the ability to do an excellent vocal fry and the growl as well as rock screams. Due to his excellent vocal technique he can do that in a healthy manner without it hurting his voice. You will hear it eventually as you listen to more.
