Narration:
Paramecia swim happily in ponds and streams throughout world. Their quick movements are produced by an army of hair-like oars that beat to the rhythm of intracellular chemistry.
Called cilia, the tiny parts with purpose create water currents that bring a constant supply of gifts in the form of bacteria and other organic matter.
Entry into a paramecium begins in the oral groove which leads to a bustling chamber called a food vacuole. An unsuspecting bacterium might frolic for a while in this churning chamber, but its days are numbered… correction… its minutes are numbered.
For the paramecium greets its visitors with a team of molecular adaptations that can only be described as precision instruments of death.
Otherwise known as digestive proteins, they act on the residents of the food vacuole with steely determination. Chomping and munching, snipping and cutting, the paramecium’s bounty is rendered lifeless. A food vacuole turns living cells into a thick broth of non-living nutrients.
Transport proteins shuttle the essential molecules across the vacuole membrane into an ocean of cytoplasm. Other teams of proteins greet the nutrients with a thousand purposes, from energy production to building projects.
The machinery within paramecia operates at a feverish pace. Contractile vacuoles pump the paramecium away from certain doom, an explosive fate due to the invasion of water molecules. Designed by natural selection, its protein parts efficiently carry out all needed chemical reactions. Out of countless random encounters throughout the vastness of the cytoplasm, a paramecium’s LIFE emerges into existence.
But just as quickly as paramecia transform bacteria into construction supplies, so too, might paramecia suffer the same fate… thanks to the cold pseudopods of amoeba. Perhaps they ponder the irony of digesting tiny victims while they, themselves, are being digested. More than one… followed by many many zeros… paramecia... have ended their time on earth as a corpse within the dynamic molecular city that is amoeba. When paramecia’s proteins parts cease to function… the game of life is over.
And so it is… in the incessant war that constitutes nature… that living cells attack each other, engulf, destroy and build anew. For organisms that cannot harness the power of the sun, the price of life… is the loss of life!
who else rather just watch these adorable paramecium for 1 hour then a educational video? there are hundreds of 10 hour fishtank videos but only a single 30 minute video to relax and watch microlife and only 1 paramecium shows up. please make a hours long video of these parameciums like the very beginning of the video. I used to have a 50 gallon fishtank but it was too expensive and a pain to maintain. parameciums are very easy to take care of and can live forever as long as theres food or not eaten. saving up for a good microscope to hook to a tv and keep them as pets. there so cute and peaceful to watch.
The narrator and music makes the Paramecium seem PARANORMAL lol.
LOL tht rhyme so well!!!
cool
I would say that the narrator actually made the cell life of a paramecium sound horrifying.
Lol 😂😆
I had never watched a video like this informative one. Excellent.
In 1958, 6th grade my dad got me a scientific microscope. One of the projects was called a 'hay infusion' consisting of a jar, hay/grass, and pond water kept in my bedroom window. I had tons of paramecia and a few rotifers but never found an amoeba, my target. I took it all to school and kids from other classes came in to look. Times were simple and good then.
I appreciate your work so much. The footage is amazing. I got to learn so much about paramecia!
Well put sir - "For organisms that cannot harvest the energy from the sun, the price of life is the loss of life"
Informative, terrifying, and hilarious. Thanks!!
Woow amazing
No words to say
Today I saw just only one paramoecium
For that only I felt sooooo happy
U r sooooo lucky
I love this he's so dramatic
ikr especially his voice... it gave me goose bumps😨
I learned about this single celled organism years ago when I was in 7th grade, but for some reason 17 years later I decided to look this up.
Just spotted and managed to video some of these under the microscope in a drop of water from the pond - wondered what they were, some of the larger microbes that I managed to see. Very good and informative video. Well done.
That was great 👍 and I don’t often say that after paramecium videos
THIS VIDEO IS VERY INTERESTING THANKS :)
This tiny, slipper-shaped protozoan is common in lakes, ponds and puddles. It moves constantly and speeds along by beating rows of microscopic hairs, called cilia, which work like miniature oars. Paramecium feeds on bacteria and other micro-organisms. It collects its food by sweeping it into a groove-shaped mouth.
Excellent work done, really appreciable.
This and vorticella has to be my favorite
Amazing video. I learnt a lot from this
This dude would make a good DM
Interesting video......I like it.
Are you feeding them with haematococcus? They are beautiful!
BEST VIDEO..... THANKS AND CONGRATS...
Tomorrow are my science practical and I had to see what I'm studying 😕
how did it go?

Welcome to life, your class is *PARAMECIUM* and you are a organism with one cell, eating other one cell organisms smaller than you, you divide into two, also, you eat with your so called "cell mouth". Good luck player, enjoy your game!
wow amazing scene,i cant believe my eyes
Thanks for this video

How could you watch this???
With electronic microscope??????
great video ... but music too loud and difficult to understand
science as a bedtime story.
Amazing
Very creepy way of talking, with this music and all
He does that deliberately haha
Yea .. it's ...
NICE VIDEO.
I have to watch this for school but apriciate your work 😁
Mantismundi - are you responsible for the videography and production? Are you a scientist. I thought this was wonderful (I'm a biology teacher)
Thanks
Very nice and clear
Subscribed ur channel
That is great
Amazing!! Your video is visually striking, informative, and fun to watch!!
Thanq so much
i feal bad for paramecia
Why are you making this so brutal
why is such an intense video just for like a microscopic organism??
That’s some intense narration there. 😂
Nice
3:36 thats very sad...
I love it. Eat her and her little sister too
I would had rescued that cillia. probably with the end of a sewing needle. saving up for a nice video microscope so I can relax and watch them on a tv screen like a fishtank.

This is Animal?
love
The food vacuole makes this all possible?
Wow 😳
Do they think? What do they feel?
@Adrian M Then what is their purpose of life?
@Adrian M Yeah i know...it was kind of a rhetoric question. What i do think is that intelligence is not the best way to separate living beings. As you said, all organism have the common purpose of reproduction, its just the path and methods that are different. Its kind of phylosophical but i think humans have no more rights to do certain things than a paramecium. Even more, if we take the concept a bit to the extreme, i think even a rock has the same similar rights to exist. We are all governed by the same laws of physics at the core.
They feel what they sense and they think what they compute.
ngl, this sounds like a villain dialogue
Voice is not clear
This really interesting video, because i also infected by the amoeba o bacteria.thanks
spooky video but I enjoyed
Why does he sound like he is telling a horror story lol
I cultured the that microhbs
@3:50min what are those organisms swimming around
Smaller paramecia
SUPERB! What's the magnification please?
in 2:14 is there a meatspin referance?
الشرح جيد شكرا لك
I didn't know i could paramecium
I'm scared to even watch again due to the dramatic music
why tf do I feel bad for these Paramecia, lmao

ever watch animal planet? same thing only under the microscope. parameciums are alive and interesting creatures Since they are only 1 cell with no blood or veins! they eat other cells to survive like yeast. parameciums are indeed like animals because they have a mouth and a butthole. . . really they have one to get rid of waste. they reproduce by spitting in half if enough food is eaten. they got no lifespan and will live forever as long as theres food. you could get these as pets at Carolina.com but you're gonna need a good microscope too see them. worth it if you wanna fishtank but don't wanna maintain it. there are lots of creatures under the microscope like the stentor, waterbears, tears of swan, and the blob monsters "amobia " the list goes on and on! litterally a whole world can be in a drop of water!
Are paramecia flat or cylindrical? In films and videos they always appear like elongated "pancakes."
They are like little tubes, i made a culture of them in my bio class! They can be seen with the naked eye and are about half the size of a (.) Period
