Nothing is better than a John Cooper Works 👍🏻. The best version of any MINI, I’ve had two, the second is on my drive, next to my 2017 Countryman S & it’s not going anywhere.
2:55 the moment I also found my mini had none of the amazing lighting on the interior that they showed in the adverts. Had I known I needed to option that like the advert I would have gladly added it.
Being the owner of a JCW 2017,which is faster, more responsive, and better looking as standard... I can say with some, actually a great deal of experience that the 2017 JCW has 231bhp, the options are green (shite mode) normal (really good fun) then there's down right bloody bonkers mode which stiffens the suspension really kicks you in the arse and stiffens the steering up, not too tight but it feels grippy... Really well built,
I just purchased a 2019 mini Cooper S it says John Cooper Works on the steering wheel had 8000 miles on it with a 2 1/2 years left on its factory warranty for 21,000 I feel I did a good thing but what do you think

I really don't like the union jack rear lights. For a brand that offers so much personalisation options I'm surprised they made those mandatory. Other than that I like what they've done with it.
The MINIac it's in pretty good shape, surprisingly. I've been good about taking it in and getting things fixed and replaced, I wouldn't mind keeping it until it does reach its limit. I've just always thought the mileage was an indication of limit reach

If they took away the go-kart feel that is a crusher. That's the whole point of MINI to me. It seems in the last two generations they just keep making idiotic changes to make the cars just..."cars" and nothing more. At my local dealer they push the Countryman's and Clubman's really hard and those just aren't very "MINI" to me. I like for the cars to be as small as possible and just flat out driving machines. My car just absolutely begs me to drive it and that's what I think of when I think about MINI but didn't they even make the last few like 5 inches longer than the previous generation? My first one was an 08 S model and it would fly. My current one is a 2014 hardtop 2 door 6speed and I love it but it does feel a little bigger. Would you say this one "feels" bigger and also would you say it still has a true "MINI" feel for those that I suppose would consider themselves "purists"? I know you seem to really like it but these are just questions that I would have for myself.
Yeah I live in the hills of east TN and live in tons of big curves and driving a MINI through them really fast is insanely fun. The handling is what makes that possible and if they didn't make them feel as tight that would irritate me beyond belief. That's really what I was the most curious about with the go-kart feel. So you're saying you still could blast through curves as quickly as ever without really giving up any speed or handling?
The JCW's are what I really want honestly. The ONLY thing I don't really like about them is I don't like the checkerboard interior over the center display. Another change I don't like that MINI made was by taking the speedometer out of the middle. I understand why they did it but that was just one of the little quirks that "made MINI MINI" to me. I also miss the toggle switches controlling everything in the middle as well. I can't tell you how many people always commented on how cool they thought my speedometer looked in the center like that.
Do you know anything about the whole "Iconic" line or whatever? What is the difference between all these things? Is it literally just different bells and whistles or something? Like if you buy just a standard S model can you get it quite a bit cheaper than say an "Iconic" S model? Is this just a gimmick to basically trap people in to having to pay more for something that might not be all that different in reality? Also do you know if it totally voids your warranty to have that exhaust stuff installed too? I saw a vid of a JCW MINI where a guy had a little switch that would make the exhaust pop like crazy and it was really cool but I figure it's quite a bit more for that. My problem with getting a newer one is I still owe quite a bit on my 2014 and was upside down on it when I traded my 2008 so that would put me quite a bit more in the whole and I just don't think they'd work with me all that much even though my 2014 doesn't even have 60,000 miles on it and is still under the certified pre-owned warranty.
Agree. Wish MINI would let the little cars be little and their "larger" models occupy that space for people who wish to own a MINI but are looking for a bit more size in their car. I miss the stubby nose. I had a 2004 Hardtop and switched to a CMS in 2012 as the family grew. Even the CM is losing it's stubby nose. I worry I may not have a desirable option when I am ready to downsize again from the CMS.
I wouldn’t say over the JCW, but all you have to do is drive the base hardtop and then the S there is no comparison. The S is much quicker acceleration and just more enjoyable ride. IMO. Test drive before buying.

Never ? Were you asleep for all of the class action lawsuits against BMW ? Do you lease and give up the car before it becomes a major headache? 1st gen mini - problems with supercharger. Strut towers will deform. 5 speed was a POS 2nd gen mini - Timing chains for S model, CVT auto was junk (CVT is almost always a mistake) The thermostat housing was made of shit plastic and would crack. ( I had to replace that on my non turbo 09 6spd mini) Problems with power steering pumps. Major problems with airbag Deployment. The spare tire in the 2nd generation was mounted underneath the car and WILL detach in the event of a rear end collision. Fully loaded JCW is around $45,000. Why ? Google it !
No one is driving these cars for 20,000 miles without an oil change. That is an absurd claim to just completely dismiss all responsibility on the part of BMW/MINI and trump it up to and ENTIRE POPULATION OF PEOPLE not knowing what to do with a car. The car I had owned had a complete service record from the dealership and I was the 2nd owner and bought the car at 49,900 miles. Non turbo 6 speed manual. I loved every minute of the drive. Prepare your video with data about car you are reviewing. Don't repeat same info few times if it is not super important. Walk slower around car or part you want to show. if you want to be able to end sequence, leave few seconds at the same view so it is easier to cut it there. No need to have whole crew to make an awesome review, there are many who do it like you, one-man-band. To many scenes from inside that are boring to watch. Watch few of the best reviewers online, make notes how they do it. Prepare better and you would have your audience. Also I appreciate you didn't insult me because of a bad comment.

Can you read ??!?!?! I had full service records from BMW/MINI !!!!!!! The car WAS MAINTAINED BY BMW MINI FUCKING COOPER. Just because they are sports cars doesn't justify the cost. $52.000 gets you a corvette or damn near ! You will NEVER be able to convince the public that it cost ANYWHERE NEAR that much to make a mini cooper but then again that applies to all vehicles. Shit I worked at a Jeep dealership and I heard supposedly it cost around $7,000 to make a stripped down BASE MODEL wrangler. Of course these people need to make a profit. They aren't going to go through the trouble of constructing and testing these cars to sell them for just a thousand or so over build cost. UNDERSTANDABLE......BUT I will bet that 52,000$ Mini costs $20 thousand or LESS or make. Think about it.

@@TheMINIac do you do in depth, mechanical reviews of the machine or just describe how nice it is to drive? Actual build quality, suspention review, suspected weaknesses of the structure, previews of what is more susceptible to corrosion. You know, useful stuff. I'd love to watch that.

Prepare your video with data about car you are reviewing. Don't repeat same info few times if it is not super important. Walk slower around car or part you want to show. if you want to be able to end sequence, leave few seconds at the same view so it is easier to cut it there. No need to have whole crew to make an awesome review, there are many who do it like you, one-man-band. To many scenes from inside that are boring to watch. Watch few of the best reviewers online, make notes how they do it. Prepare better and you would have your audience. Also I appreciate you didn't insult me because of a bad comment.
