- Watch ZDogg become ZDoggMD 😂 My med school graduation speech from back in 1999.
This is an edited version of Dr. Zubin Damania's 1999 UCSF Medical School commencement address. Note Nobel prize winner Michael Bishop squirming in the background!

I still occasionally awaken in a cold-sweat panic upon the realization that in just a few hours I will be having to take a major final exam that somehow I just totally forgot to prepare for in any way. It might take a moment or two to calm down and realize that I actually did prepare for and pass that exam some forty years ago! Good speech. Happy memories.
Fantastic speech. Absolutely wonderful mix of humor, deeper message and carthartic joy of graduating med school.
Can't wait for it. 2more years for me
Well.... did you graduate?
@happywallflower Thanks! Dan Lowenstein was our neurology professor at the time and he had pulled out a huge, rather threatening reflex hammer. Hard to see, but really funny at the time!
This was AWESOME! Thank you!
bilateral lacrimal hyper-secretion haha!!
This was awesome. Great job.
Ferris Bueller doctor-style!
Amazing speech and oh so true ..
this was great man!
Great stuff, very well done.
Just perfect- a great vision, a wonderful way of seeing the world. I've got the shoe covers. Thanks!
ZDogg you are so cool! Respect :)
He did a great job.
congrats on graduating to more hell dude. doing my first year now, and it's hell already.
Ha ha came here from Angelo/ZDogg vid. THANKS!
Awesome! 3 things came to mind while watching this.... firstly, so funny...you're a natural comedian ZDogg!
Secondly, the joke about Beta blockers, this whole time I thought it was only my family that reacted badly to them! Not sure if I'm glad to know it's common knowledge or that it's common knowledge and still prescribed left, right and centre here in the UK... worrying.
Thirdly, "(Ferris) Buellerrrrrrrrrr!!!"
This is somewhat happier than my testamur 21 years ago, the girl with a first in class gave speech - she broke down in tears and never stepped into into a hospital again, save perhaps for a 48 hour psych section. Look, I'm really quite slow, being foreign and all that - what on God's Green Earth is a "hipster"?
What I hear you saying is...
...when sitting for Boards - select the answer(s) involving PPE, footwear and/or both. *check*
(Glad to have tripped over this video during a much needed study break at 0300. Thanks!)
You are a hoot!
this dude would be perfect to host a show like snl or the daily show
Except he has to save earth. Maybe later.
Dr Attia brought me here.
"Screaming baby_2_ + irate parents/airborne illness = alternative career path"
ROFLMAO
Also; 25 dislikes = number of doctors on that stage behind him.
You're awesome
Professor Stanley Hudson in the background looks totally bored. All he needs is a crossword puzzle book.
favorite part is when u said u had to come up with a nemonic device for your family members lol
you sound exactly the same bro!
Congrats!!! 72 hour hold, lol!
Cole Hahn shoe covers?
good job btw i came here, by way of the will ferrell vid
how to say "I was crying like a little baby"?
its kinda funny to hear all the students laugh at the jokes he make because i have no idea what half of things he says mean
I'm gonna apply for a fellowship at UCSF. Not sure if I'll even get an interview invite, but I'll give it a shot.
DrB_MD did you get in??
oh, okay. here it's 6 years of uni, then almost always 3 years clinic, then 6 years of professional training.
so remember with it being the US these guys are 26, not 24 so it's been four years of uni (including "pre-med" courses) and then four of medical school, and then three years of residency (i.e. clinic) and then whatever is needed for specialty training.
Hahahahaha couldn't stop laughing, while watching this amazing grad speech, I can help think of when I graduate, although am not getting my PhD in medicine, but in business and law, your speech really relate to me. Your speech was and is inspiring...... So thanks. And I know this a few years late but congrats on graduating.
you dont get a phd in medicine. you get an MD or DO degree

@haidar9999 No one can read the Doctors handwriting anyway, so it really won't matter....

We are doctors, not linguists. :P
12 people didn't wear show covers
Hospital s are a dangerous place for expensive shoes. Great
The top comment of a medical school commencement video has a spelling mistake ... oh the irony. (@mtvfan12345, it's you're)
Aman Yurish someone has a stick up their ass
dude, i think you messed up in your speech.. when you said that "the first 2 yrs of medical school are pretty simple but then you have to study for the MCATs that beheamoth" .. dont we take the MCATs before getting into med school.. or did you mean the step 1?
He said, "...study for and pass that behemoth, "The National Boards."
