Love your reactions. Been a member since the Devil May Cry reactions and just been watching older vids and some of the newer ones. This one is pretty interesting. The new MK seems to be kind of retconning the original story to better fit the expanded lore of more recent titles. The original story was a tournament held by Shang Tsung, that was actually a front for Shao Kahn and his armies to invade Earth Realm. I'll be using the lore as established by the end of Armageddon as I didn't play too many of the later titles until recently. Apparently Shang Tsung was one of Shao Kahn's Generals and tried to open a gate to Earth Realm for him to invade. With the help of Shinok he forced a gate open after Tsung lost. Kenshin opened a well of souls allowing Tsung an immense amount of power so that he grew younger. Sonya and Kano were captured and shackled to Kahn's throne. Kung Lao and Liu Kang teamed with Raiden to defeat Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung only to be met by the new enemies of Matoro, Quan Chi, and Shinok himself. Which cover MK 1-4 as well as Shaolin Monks. Deadly Alliance and Deception take place starting behind the scenes of the first game with the Dragon Emperor tricking a young Shujinko into collecting several seals allowing him to escape. By the end of that time Shang Tsung and Quan Chi use the well Kenshin opened to resurrect the Dragon Emperor's army. When the Dragon Emperor returned everyone, good and evil, fought against him until Armageddon when a giant pyramid appeared with a flame of power burning atop rose attracting every fighter who ever fought in Mortal Kombat to one final location. Now I didn't go into expanded lore, or origin games like Subzero and Special Forces, however there are some timeline videos you can watch and maybe react to. I might make one eventually, it's just a lot of lore to try and fit in.

Kung Lao was the last Earth Realm Champion of Mortal Kombat defeating a young Shang Tsung and gaining immortality until Goro was recruited by an older Shang Tsung to defeat him killing him and becoming the new Champion. Shang Tsung being such a skilled sorcerer had an unnatural long life and was an extremely old man when Kung Lao's Descendants Liu Kang and his cousin of the same name (Kung Lao) joined the tournament. Raiden is the Thunder God and protector of Earth Realm in charge of choosing warriors to defend Earth Realm in Mortal Kombat. He waited decades for potential Shaolin Heroes.
I can say that this new era is a very interesting one that been going on throughout sometime of MK9, MK10, and MK11 Ultimate that branch out to leading up to MK1 “2023” so if there is a chance, check out the gameplay and it might give you some insight of what to come for the game. Also be warn, the gore won’t be holding back for it 🫠

So basically after the events of mortal kombat 1 through Armageddon shao khan the finally boss of mk 2 won well raiden(who went darkside) basically sent himself a message through an amulet of his past self “he must win” All the events of mortal kombat stay the same though a big changes happen that raiden try’s and fails to stop till he find out that shao khan had to win and break the rules of the mortal kombat Lu kang in anger try to kill shao khan but raiden told lu kang what he had to do lu kang didn’t care at this point and both him and raiden ended up using there special abilities till raiden killed lu kang Most of the hero’s of earthrelm die except Johnny cage,Sonya blade who eventually have a kid called Cassie cage A lot of new characters and events happen in mk 10 Johnny cage has some sorta powers from a warrior clan who ends up beating the main bad guy shinaok Kung Lao nephew joins the earth relem warriors as well my favorite blind master telepathic swordsman kenshi and his son taka and also Jackson Briggs daughter Jackie There’s a new shao khan and his name is kotal khan who is leading outworld into a more peaceful way but melienna didn’t like that who was at one point in prison and escaped with a few others and is leading a rebellion for a time turns they take took the main bad guy gods amulet that Johnny cage defeated and are using it against them but other people have plans to use it Lu kang and the other earthrelem fighters who died at end of the last story are undead bad guys except at one one point during a mission with Johnny and Sonya they ended up reversing a spell on subzero and Jack but also scorpion who finds out who actually killed his family and well the get quan chi but it was his plan to get captured and free his master In the last mortal kombat game basically past and the future start to collided the young version of them of everyone comes back basically of shinoake mother who wants to rest the timeline character interact and asked what happened to themselves in the future but figure they must stop kronka from resetting the timeline and well after that Lu kang becomes fire/thunder god Lu kang and yeah it looks like we are going to see a new timeline which I’m looking foreword too My family and I used to play Mortal kombat and marvel vs capcom 2 a lot but I used to play smash bros with my cousins and friends sadly I don’t play it anymore after some discouragement with the game by people I remembering getting mortal kombat deadly alliance from my uncle though the cover art sorta scared me cause I thought it was a horror game haha but nope turned out to be a fighting game My little brother would play mortal kombat at church at times glad we made people laugh when he accidentally took off his head-phones Crazy how this game has changed a lot overtime looking forward to the new one and the whole partner system they have

The story mode has been pretty compelling since MK9 which was a reboot of sorts. This is a continuation of the story across 9, 10 and 11. I think you could watch the cutscenes or the trailers for these and guess what's going on. This is the goriest trailer IIRC.

If your interested in mortal kombat at all you can give the cutscenes of 9 10 and 11 a shot. 9 is essentially a reboot and telling of the original first 3 games and 10 and 11 just go crazy with it. 11 in particular is basically no different from a movie you see at the theatre its really good 😂

There's also Injustice 1, and 2 story modes. They are made by the same people, and aren't gory. If you would prefer to try that instead.
