This is such a wonderful old clip of the Rambo's with an accordion player. What a powerful ministry they had for decades. The Rambos will be missed forever!
I loved the Rambo’s! My parents and I would go watch them In Louisville when I was teenager. Goodness that was 50 years ago. That’s the way they wore their hair. A few years later they started wearing makeup and would style their hair better. 😇
I don't like this , I LOVE THIS. This is beautiful....no music now can compare to this wonderful song, wardrobe, spiritual, harmony. It's all beautiful!
I keep thinking of the jurors in the Chandler Halderson case because they were forced to look at some horrendous pictures. Even the judge was upset and said he tried his hardest to put those images out of his mind and not to think about what CH did to his parents. If this is the effect it had on the JUDGE, who one would think has seen some pretty awful things in his years on the bench, I cannot imagine how terrible this must have been for those on the jury.
Reba, Dottie and Buck had such beautiful harmonies. Dottie was also a writer. She wrote songs other gospel artists had hits with. I just found this one and the harmonies are superb, praising our Lord.

@girlswithguitars859 I worked with Dottie for many years. She was a great woman of God. It's sad she was put through such pain from those that should have put her on a throne. I miss her but we'll see her again.
Not on a throne only Jesus is on the throne! Dottie should have at least been honored. She even went to Nam to sing for our men in Uniform fighting a war that went on way to long!
While I am no expert, the order from left to right is Buck Rambo, a person unknown to me, Reba Rambo, and Dottie Rambo. You can tell by the chorus when Dottie comes in. She had that distinct soulful quality to her voice.
@Jesusknowsyou1 Two that I've found to have played accordion were Shirley Cohron and Pat Jones. One web site posted that Pat Jones was with them from 1965 to 1967. I think this might be Pat Jones Green.
Those were the days when people in the world could look at Christians walking down the side-walk & know they were Pentecostal! How men/women have changed things pertaining to Godliness! God still has churches around the world that still obey the Biblical teaching on outward appearance/attire for Christians.
They are Pentecostal and believe in long hair and modest dress....it isn't a "church" doctrine....it is in your Bible! I would encourage you to read it and understand it. Dottie used to be a Pentecostal minister but it looks like turned away from her roots toward the end, but she she had an amazing gift. Love her!
Continued: weren't just reserved for Pentecostals. I've seen people outside of the gospel music realm with "do's" like this. Also, many in the Pentecostal arena would frown upon the "jewels" in their hair.
I believe he is talking about the way she was treated in her marriage. She should have been valued by her husband greater than rubies. Read Proverbs 31
Juneann Irene your right. no one sang or wrote a song quite like Mrs. Rambo. voted three times over the songwriter of the century and this is one of her best. rest in peace Dottie. Heaven must be more wonderful than all the pain you ever suffered.
Not cutting the hair is not a man made doctrine but is very biblical. The bible states that a woman should not cut her hair as it is her glory and represents her head which is her husband. We must obey the word. People seem to think it is ok do choose what they want to do but the Lord gives us guide lines to go by. The Lord did not show Reba anything of the kind as HE will not go against His own word.
+april murphy 1 Cor. 11:4-5 says, “Every man who has something on his head while praying or prophesying, disgraces his head. 5 But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head; for she is one and the same with her whose head is shaved.” In ancient Greek society, it was the custom of men to keep their heads uncovered during worship. It was the custom of women to keep their heads covered to show reverence to God. But that custom is no longer observed. Therefore, this verse does not say that a woman is not to cut her hair.“It seems that the Corinthian slogan, “everything is permissible,” had been applied to meetings of the church as well, and the Corinthian women had expressed that principle by throwing off their distinguishing dress. More importantly they seem to have rejected the concept of subordination within the church (and perhaps in society) and with it any cultural symbol (e.g., a head-covering) which might have been attached to it. According to Paul, for a woman to throw off the covering was an act not of liberation but of degradation. She might as well shave her head, a sign of disgrace (Aristophanes Thesmophoriazysae, 837). In doing so, she dishonors herself and her spiritual head, the man.” 1 For a woman in that cultural context, to remove her head covering was to suggest equality with men in the church. Now, we must be careful. We are not saying that women are not equal to men in privileges in the church since in Christ there is neither male nor female (Gal. 3:28). However, in the area of church authority, there is a distinction. God has set up the man as the head of the wife (Eph. 5:23), and women are not to be pastors and elders (Titus 1:5-6). This is an authority structure set up by God. So, the authority of God over men was very important, which is why men prayed without head coverings while women did. Why? Paul tells us in v. 7, “For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8 For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man; 9 for indeed man was not created for the woman’s sake, but woman for the man’s sake. 10 Therefore the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head.” So, Paul is talking about authority. When we recognize the authority of God over us, we are subjecting ourselves to His authority. Likewise, women wearing the head-covering were publicaly demonstrating their subjection to the authority placed over them. If you are referring to OLD TESTAMENT 'law', then Christ fulfilled The Law and we are no longer subject to it under Christ and his Salvation and Grace. We have the Gospel, and as we are not subject to dietary restrictions, neither are we subject to 'hair length' restrictions.
To QuantumRift: You skipped a verse 1 Corinthians 11:15 "But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering." This is NEW TESTAMENT, not OLD, and it is to differentiate between the sexes. A woman with long hair praying to Jesus Christ (God) is powerful!
At least the woman don't go around half naked,,,Most people. except the wearer feels uncomforts around women like that.....You can still cover your body, and still look nice
Paul said it is a custom for females to to have long hair it was for them. That was there custom. Women hair is her covering and glory. Ware she has short or long. And nothing invthe word of god it says it's a sin to have short hair. IT'S A CUSTOM. Not a have to do thing.
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
CONTINUED: She said she prayed and ask God's permission, afterwards God reminded her, Women with Short hair was going to heaven if they was saved just as much as the one with hair down to the floor
She cut her hair because it was getting so long she couldn't take care of it, she said in a church that she wasn't about to hire someone to come fix it every time she turned around because she said said for a "famous" person as everyone knows her as would cost some up to $1,500.00 and so that is why she cut she said if it wasn't for that she said she would not have cut it.
Assemblies of God are Pentecostal, as are Churches of God. The specific denomination is UNITED Penticostal, which is much more legalistic. Most "christians" would never pass the test.
We believe in long hair and a dress standard and we are NOT United Pentecostals. We are old fashioned Trinitarian Pentecostals who stick to the old paths. I was raised COG and I never changed.
A lot of talk has revolved around their hair. True, they were Pentecostal in their beliefs and some denominations do dictate that women not cut their hair. I belong to a Pentecostal denomination that doesn't teach that. One thing though that we should remember is that this was the 60's and hair-do's like this
Just a thought, but I wonder if they are lip synching to this. That's what they did on American Bandstand, all of them but B B King. I'm not accusing them of it just wondering if they did. Nothing wrong with it if they did. Just don't give the impression that you are really singing this when you are really lip synching to it.
mistertrucker They probably weren't. At this time, as far as I know The Rambos were singing in only one type of denomination for the most part, which was the UPC that Buck belonged to (Dottie never joined a denomination or religious group), and one could believe they weren't always happy not having the opportunity to branch out in that period of time and only reaching mostly one group of people. Dottie's music can be sung by nearly all denominations that believe in the saving power of Jesus, and the salvation of God; that is what makes her music so special.
Dottie was beautiful without all that makeup... but times change so just listen to what comes out of her mouth.. she was still anointed with the makeup.. so, who cares..
albert contreras Mrs Dottie did not wear makeup to look any different than she did but she wore it to cover years of abuse by her husband and Reba's father Buck seen here in this video farthest to the left. she was an amazingly gifted holy woman who wrote more than half of the most requested and recorded songs in gospel music history. she has been voted now four times over the songwriter of the century and won over 26 gospel music awards and 17 dove awards including album of the year 9 times song of the year 5 times and many more honors as well as a posthumous lifetime achievement award. however though she was probably the most famous female gospel singer except for maybe her rival and best friend Vestal Goodman she was still a very humble and sincere human being.God bless you.keith muncy

I miss these kinds of songs.

Beautiful to see and listen to the old songs!!! God bless. ❤❤❤
Buck has a beautiful voice for harmony as they all do.
Love it. Its not commercial but, it is the real thing. They sing for the Lord so his message can be heard.

Dottie Rambo, a prolific songwriter.
Exquisite. Their harmonies and instrumentation are reminiscent of the cowboy music of the 1940's.

The things that I love
I hold dear to my heart
They are borrowed and
Not mine at all
Jesus only let me use them
To brighten my life
So remind me, remind me dear Lord
Roll back the curtain of memory now and then
Show me where you brought me from and
Where i could have been
Just remember I'm a human and human's forget
So remind me, remind me dear Lord
Nothing good have i done
To deserve God's own Son
I'm not worthy of the scars
In His hands
Yet he chose the road to Calvary
To die in my stead
Why He loved me i can't understand
Roll back the curtain of memory now and then
Show me where you brought me from and
Where i could have been
Just remember I'm a human and human's forget
So remind me, remind me dear Lord
Just remember I'm a human and human's forget
So remind me, remind me dear Lord
