14:48 Milte hi aankhein (Babul 1950) 21:53 Mohabbat ki dhun (Dil-e-nadaan 1953) 26:02 Ei rimjhim jhim barasha (Bengali song) 29:40 Armaan bhare dil ki lagan (Jan pehchan 1950) 36:33 Pyar par bas toh nahi hai (Sone ki chidiya 1958) 43:47 Damdi damdi paisa paisa (Hamari shaan 1951) 46:27 Gham ki andheri raat mein (Sushila 1963) 52:45 Mohabbat hi na jo samjhe (Parchhain 1952) 59:15 Shukriya ae pyar tera (Aaram 1951) 1:04:08 Aha rimjhim ke ye pyare pyare (Usne kaha tha 1961) 1:08:00 Patthar dil ho gaya (Shah Behram 1956) 1:10:42 Jalte hain jiske liye (Sujata 1959) 1:16:10 Tum to dil ke taar chhedkar (Roop ki rani, choron ka raja 1962) 1:22:08 Ishq mujhko nahi vehshat hi sahi (Mirza Ghalib 1954)
Talat Sahab's songs for S D Burman are great starting from Ek Nazar 1951- Ye aasun Khushi ki aasun hai, Bahar 1951- Aye zindagi ke raahi, Buzdil 1951- Dar lage duniya se ( with Lata), Sazaa 1951- Aaja Aaja tera intzar hai, Arman 1953- Bharam teri wafawonka and Bol na bol aye janewale, Chahe kitna mujhe tum bulao ji (with Asha) , Babla 1953- Jag me aaye koyi and so on. Of course he got Filmfare award for Jaye to jaye kahan of Taxi Driver 1954.
Talat ji sang a telugu song or two. P B Srinivas and A M Raja from south take inspiration and similarty in singing like Talat ji. I felt in luv talat ji when i was in 10th it continius. My dream was to meet him some how could not make. I am a hyderabadi living in CHENNAI for some time
Talat Mahmood duet song with Suraiya "Rahi Matwale..." from the movie "Waris" tuned by Anil Biswas is too excelled. The song was inspired from a popular Rabindrasangeet. To me Talat Mahmood's main interest was to play as Hero who sang himself though later he changed. If he did give all interest in singing only we might receive more treacherous songs from him.
Sir, many thanks for this lovely programme. I had been waiting for Talat Sahab's birth centenary celebration from you. Your programmes are always very informative and interesting and so was this. Thanks also for inviting Reemaji on this special presentation. Her presence also added value to the programme. Many thanks again.
Beautifully presented Peeyush Sharma janab ji. Was watching the moment it was loaded on You Tube. Will repeat this few times. Presence of Reena the daughter in law of Talat Saab was a bonus on the show. Salute your efforts janab in keeping these memories alive. TQ all Zoom participants with valuable inputs. God bless all always.🙏
Peeyushji Three programs may possible on duets songs of Talat Mahmood with 1) Geeta Dutt 2) Lata Mangeshkar and 3) Asha Bhosale. More than 200 numbers of non-filmi songs. More than 50 numbers of Bengali songs. All songs of Talat Mahmood are wonderful and great.
sir you should have added sham E Gham ki kasam .on personal note i used to mentaly sing whenever i saw my first crush love in a bus daily while going to college .this ghazal /song was playing mentally always
A program on Talat Mahmood was always welcome. During his time he sang for all the top heroes like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand , Raj Kapoor, Bharat Bhushan, Shammi Kapoor , Sunil Dutt apart from singing for himself. I wished that a few songs like the duet from Sangdil (1952) Dil mein samaa gaye sajan and one song from either Sazaa or Taxi Driver and one from Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja or Patita could be included here. May be one more program could accommodate some of them !
Peeyushji, your programme on Talat Mehmood is excellent and his song from Dil e nadan is extremely melodious. Has Talati sung for Hemantkumar? I don’t readily recollect.
I wanted to add one more song of TM which is my favourite. Husnwalon ko na dil do ye Mita dete hain, zindagi bhar ke liye Rog laga dete hain. It is unusual song of TM but there also he has excelled.
I know you love S D Burman. August 19 was Khayyam's death anniversary.. May we expect a podcast from you on this genius? I rate his private ghazals' album with Rafi sahab as one of the best ghazal collections. You did mention that S D Burman changed Rafi Sahab's singing style. I think Khayyam did that with Rafi sahab in this album -
very true. Khaiyam did work on Rafi's delivery in ghazals. I do intend to do a program on Khaiyyam. My love for SDB is not at the cost of other music directors
