Werebeast dwarves are useful, you can lock them in the caverns to look around for you, they can be an immortal sentry posted outside the fort (locked in a tower or something), they can be a designated lever puller or even just a back up for when everyone else dies. I used one to dig a vast catacombs under my base, inefficient but it was fun watching the little guy build tunnels all over the z level
Hey, got your channel in recommendation and right now I am on Dwarf Fortress burnout myself but I love watching your videos. Really great work and its pleasant to watch/listen to :) Want to wish you best of luck with the growing the channel
I’ve always wondered what the pots do! I always figured it held cooking liquids. That makes sense. And I do need to fix the dining room 😂 I’ve been doing 1/1 with everything else but haven’t went back to fix that
Hey man love the vid I'm just getting back into dwarf fortress and watching has helped a lot, I saw you used more of the work oder tab in the start mind if I ask what starting dwarf professions you went with to allow to have a manager?
I have some videos in my “dwarf fortress videos” playlist with some guides! I’ll actually be recording a video tonight on “starting a fortress” that should be out in a day or two also. My manager I level up in record keeping, value estimation, and negotiation. I’ll have 1 person have all 3 positions: bookkeeper, manager, and trader
Have you ever tried a trap spiral staircase? I assume enemies still try to dodge traps (been years since I played DF), so if you make a hollow spiral staircase filled with traps, they will often fall back down and have to get past the traps again. You can also make a 1 tile walkway above a pit but I like the spiral staircase more. The further they get, the more fall damage they take if they dodge into the abyss.
That is a very interesting concept. I’ve never even seen that built by someone before. So I’m assuming they’re climbing up the staircase from below? I may have to go do some testing on that
@@kodstergames Yes you first make some normal stairs down a few levels and make a short corridor, then you build a spiral staircase upwards and fill it with traps (like a 5x5 stair with a 3x3 hole in the middle) so they have to keep going through the same traps over and over again. if they fall down Cause iirc when they dodge they pick a random direction. Having a 1 tile wide walkwaay over a hollowed out area does increase the chance of them dodging into the pit since like 6/8 directions result in them falling off. You can make a zig zag walkway like that. Like your normal trap corridor except you replace the walls with a pit. As long as they have a way back up to the start, they will attempt to cross the traps again. The staircase is easy to combine with some upright spears at the bottom, while the zig zag across the pit is easy to combine with crossbow dwarfs.
The hall of heroes was an interesting idea I never thought to display the corpses of terrible beasts, I wonder if the dwarves enjoy seeing them when they walk by? 🤔
It’s placed off in its own room along the hallway. I rarely see a dwarf in there unless I tell them to display something or place a new statue. I haven’t noticed any negative affects related to it yet

They just scare me to death lol I need to experiment with them a bit more for sure. I’ve seen some people do some awesome stuff with them

I always enjoy listening to Dwarf Fortress stories, thanks for sharing.
Glad you like the vid! Thanks for stopping by!
I'll admit, I prefer epic fortress tales over a play by play, but still good.
Do you have a video you could refer me to for that?? Always looking for new ways to edit or new ways to tell the stories
I enjoy vice versa
Just found your channel, epic stuff!
can't wait to see more

I like the way you play the game! I learned a lot. 💙
Thank you!
Rock pots can be used instead of wood barrels. Also, your dining room needs to be each dwarf gets a throne/chair and table. They do not share tables.

So pigs can live in a stone room without fungus floor?
Yes! Pigs and predators. I believe pigs can because they’re omnivores. Super useful for early game
the birds you can embark with are also fine like that! no grazing required
Dining rooms and taverns with 2 chairs per table? You are really calling for trouble right there, I'm surprised you didn't have any incidents.
I’ve never had any issues doing it 😂 I’ve stopped doing it since, just Incase lol

Could you keep going on this fort and dive deeper
