I used to find sissones pretty challenging but now I think they're really fun LOL we do a fun combo with sissone de cotes and sissone ouverttes with some entrechats as more of a medium allegro combination. It's really fun when you get some height to the jump!

Could you do a lesson on how to enter into jumps. By this I mean, the entrances into jumps. I am unsure how you enter into a Grand Jete or a Saut de chat. Thanks!
A sissone will travel. The exact amount will depend on the choreography, but it is a traveling step. If you were to do a sissone that didn't travel, it would simply be a soubresaut or a changement! You want to jump up and over!
That second leg in a sissone can be unwieldy! Try working on really sharp and controlled dégagé (or jeté, depending on your school) at the barre to simulate that second leg's motion and work on getting under control in isolation! Then try to put it back into the sissone! :)
Actually Sissone doesn’t mean scissor. It is the name of the man that created the step. Cisuaex is scissor in French. It’s a common mistake in the Ballet world....but regardless, this is a great video and it is nice to see resources for adult students!

Broche Ballet of course! I thought it meant scissor for years!
