- Since July 1, 2024, Beijing has started enforcing export controls on aerospace equipment, engines, and essential materials for bulletproof vests. This decision will affect about $8 billion worth of exports from the first four months of the year.
The new regulations are part of China’s strategy to manage the export of critical technologies and materials, especially those that could be used for military purposes. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with other governmental bodies, will oversee the licensing and regulatory processes to ensure alignment with national security interests and international commitments.

China is trying to help the US with self-sufficiency and its sanctions against China. Too bad the US did not join the BRI, otherwise China would have done much more to help the US with infrastructure, schools, high speed rail, and maybe help build a few more shipyards it needs.
US doesn't have cheap good products most other countries really need or want. And unlike most other countries have to import more from US. With China, US has to import more than export. And no more free lunch like in the past.

The back and forth sanctions will only accelerate the supply chain migration away from China. This will not be to bring factories back to America or EU but rather to spread risk to various other developing nations. BRICS is also not a strategic alliance. Those countries aren’t going to defend each other in times of conflict. It really doesn’t matter what currency trades are made in. Eventually a conversion is needed. There is so much misunderstanding as to why US dollars are used for trades and it has nothing to do with whether countries like the US or not.
