47:56 Oh no, Pluto is now armed! On a more serious note, I think it's great to see a game like this one where the players aren't totally serious or completely into character but just sort of messing about and having fun, and yet the DM is able to kind of keep the action rolling without feeling like he's bearing down on them or trying to force them ahead. Just a great game vibe all around.
Kinda wonder what would happen if someone cast Regenerate and Awaken on him... While the first would help him last longer, would the boost in linguistics and intelligence make him happier or worse off?
Joe’s random jokes go almost completely unnoticed, and he just keeps doing it. I love him for that. Makes this already excellent series that much better.
69 likes... Nice. Having seen the Season 1 to completion, and assuming you have as you watched this a year ago, I know many things have been improvised, but I wonder what the original story would look like... I feel like this campaign would be as if you played Ghost of Strahd and ended up killing Irena in the first encounter.
I'm imagining Pluto escaping the cube the same way Jim Carrey escapes the rhino decoy in Ace Ventura. Crawling his way out making grotesque noises and flopping to the dirt groaning like a newborn beast
I have been there in a stupid way. Normal people would say something like "I duck behind the overthrown table." But me with a brain fart forgetting the word "duck" ends up using so many descriptive words I have to roll an acrobatics check to bend down.
I was watching this episode while donating blood today and everyone gave me a look when I started dying laughing at the Rat Prince and the three ghosts. Stellar comedy, guys.
Veo is a really cool character. I think I still prefer primeval guardian because of the additional d6 to damage and druidic spells, but gloom stalker is really good for indoors environments. I love the way she can use the darkness spell from Sebastian at her advantage, and it really goes well with the fact they had a common past as if they trained together
@@anonarchia3542 I thought she has been using it in most fights. If I understood it correctly, it only applies to her first turn of any fight if she uses the attack action.
@@anonarchia3542 She's used it every time, she's missed some shots due to rolls, but I've been paying close attention to their resource/ability use (because they play 3 of my favorite subclasses) and she's definitely the most consistent. Pluto, on the other hand, has used his maneuvers 2-3 times total and action surged only twice lol. In his defense though, they've been alpha striking most of the sub-bosses in round 1 or 2 due to Veo and Sebastian nuking them with spells or gloomstalker extra attacks before Sebastian can close the distance. Sebastian has been pretty good about using his spell slots, though I think there were a couple of sessions when he ended the day with unused level 2 slots and/or sorcery points.
Monty: "The floor of the sewer here is completely clean." Sebastian: [walks forward anyway] Me: Dude is totally gonna walk face-first into a gelatinous cube. #NailedIt!
After my first campaign, I am paranoid about this and will ask about the floor anytime we reach a new location. My friends think I'm weird for that but I don't care. You only make the mistake once.
Alaro Sebaster Realistically your character probably wouldn’t have any prior knowledge about gelatinous cubes so it’s technically meta gaming for you to ask about the floor and act cautiously when you see a clean floor in a dungeon. You’d be role playing knowledge that your character doesn’t have, which is wrong.
I love how Kelly admits this happens every time. Though I must admit that he's great at getting into character. Sabastian is a person who is quite visual, rushing into situations and relying on his verbal and fire skills to solve any problem. So for him, considering there is a problem that he might not be able to see is preposterous. Kelly knows about gelatinous cubes, but he got so into his character that Sebastian walked in not even considering "why are my friends being cautious?"
@@c_to_the_e if you are concerned about "meta gaming" or finding a way to role play it you could use expertise in survival, investigation, possibly history to recognize that if a sewer is particularly clean in abandoned city that you could at least deduce that something is up, especially if skeletons are picked clean and no organic material is there. Maybe throw some rocks in the different corners to see what goes after them.
Man... they got 85 gold pieces and pocketed it all.... I would have left at least some for the damage at the bar. The owner offered them drinks for life and these jerks just took all the gold and left the dead bodies behind for the poor bar staff to deal with. LOL!
Well, the barkeeps could've stripped the bodies of all their clothing, armor and weapons (selling it) and made a tidy profit. Whether that outweighed the damage, lost income, and stolen ales, bitters and brews... I wonder myself! 😏
I absolutely love the way they do the "set change" when they are moving into the chamber of the sewer system, the pure reverence that they handle the sewer set-up 😊 I know they are not cheap and take a good amount of time to assemble, but it's still cool to see the sets handled with the respect that is shown. I am watching this campaign for the 5th time and will most likely watch it thirty more times. Keep up the amazing work!!!! Thank you for allowing everyone who watches these campaigns into your private world and your game!!!!
-sharpshooter, that's 26, & -dex that's 22, so 22 dmg from dice Before doubling, it must've been 11. Gloomstalkers get a d8 of extra damage on the first round of combat, so if she's using a d8 weapon, her damage would actually only be slightly above average (avg of 2d8 is 10, she got 11)
I have to say the humble gelatinous cube might be my favourite monster in D&D. Every yime... "Should I use a gelatinous cube" and the answer is always yes! Wise words a wise man once said

2:00:30 Guess I'll have to do this again, hopefully I'll be able to finish watching this episode in time so I can watch you live tomorrow! Edit: Finished in time! See you in a bit.
Kudos to you Monty as the dm. I’m assuming you literally had to just toss out all the notes you had prepped for this session after the party decided to go back to the rats nest. Such incredible improv there. Well done, adding the effigies was incredible.
Literally the best moments of this session is the encounter with the Rat Prince I laughing so hard. And also the Gelatinous Cube, that encounter was funny as heck.
It’s funny watching this after the video where they talk about shield master being surprisingly good and you can totally see on their faces they are like okay joe, you do whatever, we don’t know why your doing this.
Nothing like taking an adventure with talented characters and a steller story weaver of tails, I might be stacking your canned goods at the market but in my mind I'm walking the streets of Drakenhiem in the shadows of warriors mages and slueths! My new favorite adventuring party.. And the bar was very high! With dms like Brennan, Griffin, and Mercer. Yall are masterclass.
The Rat Price is becoming one of my favorite NPCs I have ever witnessed. Though Harold Kirby from Techsmith314’s “Monsters ain’t real” campaign will always be my favorite. Thank you very much for all the laughs.
That could simply be "designer Dungeon Mastering" where the creature is weakened (for whatever reason) because the DM knows the party couldn't beat it. And just like that, my weekend has plans. Kelly, I'm not sure I've heard which metamagics you've got thus far, or which ones you are looking forward to as you progress.
Hey! It’s Kelly, good call, I’ve taken quickened and empowered, eventually plan to get twinned spell. I know I haven’t used them very often, I have found that using my points to cast darkness on myself and seeing through it has been a very strong use of sorcery points. Especially now with elven accuracy as a feat. Expect more meta-magic from me in the future as I wrap my head around all the choices I have on my turns lol.
Those are my personal favorite choices, and what i have for my sorcerer. As fun as darkness is, if my math is right, next level you get the chance to pick up haste, twin it, and turn those two into absurd death dealers.
Without a doubt the most entertaining and immersive D&D stream I've seen. Critical Role got nothing on this yo. Hats off to Monty for the awesome campaign concept and to the PCs for getting so into character!

I love all the subtle humour you guys can insert both in and out of game. Like Kelly's shirt worn after the confrontation with Jupiter.

what if their persona of the ghosts becomes so powerful that the rats get divine power and clerical spell casting?
