No way did he do on purpose ! I saw him smiling and laughing , and chatted to him outside Moo`s bar in Chamonix last night, He`s 47 now and looks 30, unreal, down to earth nice guy.
If he was not going so fast he wold not have made it so far out from the cliff and it would have ended really bad.

Billy Bob Beer Drinker this wasn't planned you dip fuck. Once he was at the drop in of the cliff why would they try to get an angle for the cameras instead of making sure he survived? Learn how these things work before you talk shit about these people

This guy didn't had plans for breaking a world record, he just did his warmup run, and got lost..

So doing some basic calculations based on an 107m height (and given that I don't his initial vertical speed), he'd have been going well over 100mph (Probably got to terminal velocity) once he hit the snow and would have been in the air for up to 5 seconds. Was probably the longest few seconds of his live.
The way he jumps off that cliff with all the confidence in the world ;-)

You really need to respect people like this. They do things that other people consider foolish and stupid because it's what they love to do. They shove society aside to make the most out of their lives and be happy, and I'd say that they live more than 99% of the people in the world.
He was trying to break the record, but just not off that particular spot, still the cameraman choked super hard by not getting that shot.

I think he knew exactly where he was going, in the video they say when they were telling him his line he seemed out of it thats cause he already knew his line and they had to tell him to go 3 times cause he was second geussing what he was planing on doing and scared shitless about what he was about to do but i think he defenetly planed that drop you dont just pic a wrong line and shoot perfectly off a 350footer by acident.

I thought the same thing, however, most huge jumps are planned with cameras positioned for optimal effect. Look carefully and you can see a puff of snow as he lands at 4:59. He launched at 4:55 for approximately a 4 second freefall. Accelerating at 10m/s/s means he falls roughly 10 meters the first second, 20m in second #2, 30m during 3rd second and 40m during the 4th second. 10+20+30+40 = 100m = 333 feet. I trust their calculation more than this very rough demonstration in physics.

This guy did this on purpose. There was no reason for him to be going that far skiiers right. Not to mention they had to tell him three times that the camera was rolling. This guy was saying his last goodbyes. Thats my take anyway.

I don't doubt the math these guys did, but in a video I saw of some guys setting other records for dropping like.. 250 feet, much smaller than this, the cliffs they went off of seemed a lot higher than this one..

Over 100 m wtf. He is probably the only human that ever survived such drop without parachute! Even if the snow saved his live....imagine falling into water from 100 m. It still is going to hurt like hell or might even kill you.

I followed the cliff all the way down to the second chute.... no mistake. I stopped at the top because I wanted to get in the “just jump it” mood. It was really not steep and was very slow, i meant to ride out, not crater. This wasnt even a big deal, before I jumped it I thought this would be around 100ft... I still think it was.
