My dad, Randy Cates was the bassist for this show. He passed on Aug 12th, 2022. I’m just trying to find every bit of his stuff. I’m so happy this is here. That’s his voice at the end saying “Thank you, thank you!”

Belated condolences - I didn't know your father was no longer with us. The Cate Brothers were terrific.

My parents gave me a lot of freedom. I was at this show. I was 17yo. I went with my friend Patty who went off partying with some folks she met. Early the next morning her worried mom called me because Patty was sick and hungover. She wanted to know what Patty had be doing. I honestly said I didn't know, maybe drugs maybe alcohol, not sure. Patty got into big trouble and disowned me as a friend cuz I talked to her concerned mom. It was a hot afternoon and a long concert. I liked the stadium lit up with bic lighters and matches - that looked beautiful against the dark night. Now people use cellphones. Head East and REO Speedwagon were really popular at my high school dances so I knew those bands. I had never heard of Gypsy, Judas Priest, or Ted Nuggent before.

I saw Head East at my high school Belleville West (IL) in 1975 or 76

Gypsy deserved to be a top drawing national attraction.
I wish that I had a chance to see them perform live.

I saw them at the Fillmore East, they played their entire first album if I remember correctly. WE had never heard of them before and they blew us away.

A favorite group from back then. Loved their blended sound. I think I've purchased all of their albums. And I think I saw them play live here in San Francisco, California at either Fillmore West, or the Avalon back in those times. Thanks for posting this nice cut of their sound from 1977.

I was there - 13 years old. Ironically, the opening band - Judas Priest was a complete unknown and now is the most globally recognized band at the show.

I was 14 and in the audience. Went to all the Super Jam Concerts. It was a great time. Yes, Nugent blew everyone away. I wish KSHE or someone would have taken more pictures and maybe filmed these concerts.

I was there. I was only 16 years old at the time. What I remember most wasTed Nugent playing his guitar through eight 400 Watt amplifiers. It was so f-ing loud there were complaints from three miles away.

favorite bands of all time. They should
of gotten a lot more recognition!
