A friend stopped at red light, a truck squeezed in and damaged his car entire right side and pressing it down. He got trapped. When he shouted, one guy poked his head out and just laughed. Poor chap had to renew both doors including bumper, repaint sections and had shocker issues. Similar happens pan India.
exactly traffic laws and rules should be the same for everyone. whether its a guy on a bike , 4 wheeler, bus , truck anything . unbelievable that many people dont even want to follow basic traffic laws !!!!

One month ago in our Village many people met with accident. Truck drivers really drive very carelessly they didn't even think about the person they trample. They simply hit and run . I really appreciate Indian Government for making this kind of rule hope there will be no such accidents.

So in my opinion there should be dash cam in every vehicles.....and cctv camera on every highway in 10 m range......because most of the accidents highways pr hi hote hai....

This rule should be implemented as soon as possible.. I have seen many truck driver driving recklessly... If we have strict rules, then only there will be fear among these driver.. I believe dash camera will be in very much demand now for safety.

1.Make strict rule to issue licences.
2.Stop excessive corruption in RTO 's?
3.Conduct frequent counselling sessions for drivers and traffic police.
4.Increase vigilance on rash driving, drink and drive, taking bribe by police on road .
5.Paint frequently the bumpers and zebra crossings with white paint as they get rubbed very frequently.
6. Decrease toll tax.
7.Get rid of pot holes frequently in highways .
8. Strictly monitor loading capacity of trucks in weighbridges and needs extra vigilant on bribery.
9. Minimise unnecessary police harrasment on road which will result in better and tranquil mindset of drivers.
10. If the above points are followed strictly and rationalising the penalty amount for hit and run case to every stakeholders satisfaction .I think this will be a better option.

the law in it self is not baseless but the law should include extra points to ensure the safety of the driver like mandatory dash and rear cam and provisions like if drivers calls the emergency services before fleeing the scene it wouldn't be considered hit and run , the drivers in most cases don't have any other actions other than fleeing the mobs often beat drivers to death even when they aren't guilty

India is still lacking in proper Road Infrastructure. Most of the roads maintained by govt. Is full of pot holes before moving towards any strict laws to ensure discipline among drivers govt. Should make laws to improve their road infrastructure. Most of the accidents that occur is not due to Rash driving but due to substandard road infrastructure.

इससे उसे कम सज़ा होगी, अगर एक्सीडेंट में गलती ड्राइवर की पायी जाती है तो
सब सिर्फ़ ड्राइवर के बारे में सोच रहे है, जो इन एक्सीडेंट में मरेंगे वो भी गरीब होगा उनका भी एक परिवार होगा उन्हें भी तो न्याय मिलना चाहिए
सभी कानून जनता के लिए बनाए गए हैं जो महंगाई और बेरोजगारी की बोझित है... पुलिस + राजनीतिक नेता और व्यापारी अब न्यायपालिका से अधिक शक्तिशाली हैं।
I'm with govt bcz those truck driver didn't care other travelers bcz they have no fear to hit and run .
Now it's was a accident then it's accident but if it's truck driver fault then definitely punish him .
Not every truck driver and bus driver are same
Govt should make compulsory for AC cabin in trucks and two drivers mandatory for above 10hours drive route.
Driver will get good rest and comfort sleep second will not be overburdened.

They should follow the law. They are not above law. What the truck drivers think of? , they can simply hit and run ?? Law is equal to every one. Truck drivers are not exempted.

Still don't understand what's wrong with this law and Why are they protesting?? If you do the crime then you get punishment. That's it. Simple as that.
While there is nothing wrong about enforcing this rule, something which also needs to be addressed here is -
1. Poor Road infrastructure and potholes which cause accidents.
2. Absence of minimum traffic sense in fellow drivers and pedestrians. Some passerbys just jump and cross a fast moving vehicle and get crushed. Driver can do nothing in the last minute.
3. Violent Mob culture who gang up and beat (sometimes beat to death) the driver of “bigger” vehicles whenever accident occurs before knowing the reason.
4. Deploy patrolling staff regularly keep Check to not allow stray restricted vehicles to enter expressways. Have seen many horse carts, auto rickshaw and erickshaws plying on expressways
5. Educate and penalize people for not trespassing into highways. For example- Local teenage boys take selfie on the mumbai delhi expressway that too on fast lane, athletes making reel by racing against trucks on highways.
Driver can do a lot. He should be the one who is totally responsible for the accident. Every effort has to made by a driver to avoid accidents. Only a strong law with maximum punishment can make drivers driver safe. Think for a moment, they are protesting so that they can get minimum punishment. They are not thinking of how to be more careful. They don’t care!!! And it’s the duty of the govt to bring each and every citizen be it anybody to bring laws and strong laws to make people care. Govt falling for such protests which is for the safety of the citizens is a weakness.

Someone is talking sensibly here. I have driven my both cars Total 2 lakh Kms on highways across country. Lemme tell you the most sensible highway driving is done by trucks. Harsh truth.. Majority of reckless drivers are private busses, small pickup trucks, private cars & loaders
India needs to first make a stratigy on how to control this excessive population outburst.
