I’m in a family concrete company and we use this for hauling old concrete. Over 300,000 miles and starts right up every time. This vehicle is a tank and is fun to drive in for how old it is lol
The speedometer goes to 100 MPH. Holy Shit! A few years later, IH and Stewart-Warner toooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnned it dowwwwnnnnn, to 80 MPH, which it should always have been. Can you imagine how f*cking dangerous it would be to haul a 1,500-gallon tanker at 100 mph? Suicidal. That looks like a Ford radio. Nice old truck.
im about to repower one of these with an optimax 2 stroke gas engine of about 3.2L as it can make much more power power than a 6v53 detroit of the same size and dont give all this low end torque bullshit1 Power is what moves mass and its oil injected without all the this wet sump VRO crap!
@@ryanregister495 Some kind of plate to mount to the transmission like Ruduzon did with his evinrude V8. i have both a 4L small block Johnson v8 2 stroke sid oiler and an 8v92. I might want to run ceramic bearings in my 8v92 when i go to rebuild it. Are you running ceramic bearings in your 4-53 2 stroke?
I used to drive a IHC Loadstar chassis school bus. IHCs are either strong runners or problem childs. No inbetween. It must be a good one if he is keeping it around
I’d love to buy a crew cab one and put a pickup bed on it or a service or flatbed on it. I’d put heavy haul rims on it. Man would this be sweet with a Detroit diesel and stacks on it! Awww yeah. I’d daily drive it
sky guy yea I got the game really enjoying it. The one in snowrunner is a Gas model. It has a pickup bed option and a service bed option. I know they look cool on it.
Im building a wooden flatbed for a 1700 4x4 to haul my anthracite home this winter to heat my house. then hopefully i'll be finishing it in the spring into an extreme off road camper and hit the road in the fall. Brought home some 8 foot 4x6 beams yesterday to start the frame.
Do farms in your region have their own wells or is water distributed through a community pipe system (don't know if that's right words for it)? Filling those tanks require either a good flow of ground water or some dollars for community water?
we have about 6000 gallons of water storage at the farm; leave a garden hose in it (well at the farm) for a few hours when we need to get some filled up.
awesome I have a 72 ih 1800 gas also is your shifter stuck on low or high side? mine got stuck on the low side the other day and can't get it out! once I do I think I'm going to make it on the high side only! great video!
ummm, I'd have to ask. I'm not sure, I got it going about 45-50 and that felt like all it wanted to do. Maybe that's as fast as they used to go? Do you think you could go that fast in low range?
That's about top speed in low range, but with you carrying a liquid load, and not being baffled, you're better off staying in low range, and keeping the speed down, so you can slow down, and stop when need be. You do need to learn how to downshift properly though, instead of kicking it into neutral, and relying solely on your brakes to slow you down, and stop you, because if your brakes ever fail, and you can't down shift to slow down, you're not going to be able to stop if you need to. Have someone teach you how to use your RPM's and double clutch to downshift for your own safety, as well as the others on the road.
@@garthks i wish i knew how 2downshift. I just bought one of these. I have to skip 1 to 4 them coast back 4 to 1. All I get is grinding no matter how many times I clutch
Neighbors had an IH grain truck, don't know the model number. I hauled a couple of loads of beans with it. It was a good truck till you wanted to stop. Just about had to Fred Flintstone it. lol The inside of your truck looks great for its age. Must have been well cared for.
Drove these at Welch wood in Perry KS ,,great trucks very heavy duty
Love this ride along video. When is our next ride in the Loadstar? Hope you still have it. 👍🏻👍🏻
Love international truck 345 V8
Snowrunner brought me here! Sweet truck!!
I Wrenched on some 1971 and 1974 Corn Binders on the Ohio Turnpike. Also wrenched on them at a couple of dealerships. Thanks for sharing.
Fun to drive on Snowrunner. Wish I had one as nice as yours irl! Beautiful truck. Really taken care of.

I know most speedometers were 80 mph I think it was a option at one point but not sure
One of the best and most common "farm" trucks still used.
Ya, its a workhorse
nice review, I am looking to buy the same truck this week to haul gravel
10ns..
If you are here is for Snow Runner 😁
Yep
This is the kind of person you buy stuff from.
There's nothing like the sound of an old IH gas engine.

These IH Loadstars were pretty popular between 1962 & 78
Ya, would love to see it haul some grain
My friend has one that was used for over 20 years hauling houses
THAT'S ONE HELL OF A NICE TRUCK TO HAVE
Love those we use one to haul chemicals on our farm
Correction that is a 4-speed with a two-speed because that little red knob on the side of it

Ahh thats cool! Ya, it runs well
4 doors?
Be prepared to be inundated by Snowrunner fans. This is one of the scout trucks in the game and people are growing fond of this vehicle.
haven't heard of it, might have to check it out
Thats... Why I'm here...
Good, then they'll quadruple the value like my Grand Wagoneer. Then i'll sell it to one with a big stack of cash lol
SNOWRUNNER BROUGHT ME HERE LOL
cant tell if your using the 2 speed axle in video, got 1969 model 1890 myself hauled alot of sawdust with that for the moo cows.

We usually fill our water tanks for spraying at our local grain elevator.

that's interesting; don't think anyone does that around here

To bad IH don't go back to those models. She's a dandy.

Ya this ones stuck in low range. I was downshifting with this rig. It's all good, we all start somewhere
Make sure to check the fuse in the glovebox for the high/low shift, that's a common issue when those trucks get stuck in high or low.
