The solar garden light could be used without a garden. You can charge the light and use it indoors too, in case of a power cut.

6:07 Useful for serving say..peas or lentils or small pulses that you have boiled. separates them from the liquid.

It's clear a lot of thought went into those gifts by your anonymous donor, how kind of them.

I also had no idea the corn gadget existed either! What a neat idea.
I love those solar lights as well, I should get some for my truck. I have portable battery lights currently, but those are only as reliable as my ability to charge the batteries back up, which isn't always possible. Solar would be much better!

What a kind and thoughtful gift! I hope you are able to find out who sent it to you. Those solar powered lights can be very useful for lighting your home at night without having to use power. Just charge them up in a sunny window and they will be ready for you to take throughout your home for anywhere you want a little extra light! The spoon with the slots in it is good for serving out anything that is in water or broth where you just want the solid food and not the liquid since it drains through the holes. The other spoon shapes and spatulas can be used in different size and shape pots for stirring or even serving foods so you don't have to use a tiny spoon in a big pot, or a huge spoon in a tiny pot :) The flat ones are good for scraping the side of bowls and for mixing. Silicone is very easy to clean and lasts a good long time. It is also heat resistant for cooking, but not flame resistant so keep them off of direct heat!

The slitted spoon is so you can use when you cook something with liquid. You can scoop you food without the liquid. Then you use the different spatulas for scraping and scooping

I have that same grater, but in green! It was given to my by a friend whom I helped to move to another town. I broke the crank handle when I grated some frozen cheese, but it holds together well with duct tape and I had to cut away the tape around the release trigger in order to be able to remove it from the barrel. It still works -grate- great.

That grater brings back memories. When I was a kid we had something similar called a moulinex, basically one of those cylinders held in a sort of plastic tong configuration and the top part would push the gratable item (usually a carrot) down. Worked really well back before food processors were really a thing, and I'm fairly sure there were other cylinders for slicing or coarser/finer grating. No scraped knuckles from that. Can't remember what happened to it but I think it went missing in a move where a box or 2 didn't arrive. Easier and faster than a standard grater and no power required.

it's good you have a new Bonnet grinder, the last one had just about given up the ghost.

Nice gifts! I wonder if the garden lights can be used inside - are they solar powered? Many garden lights are, and once they're charged up by the sun, they can be used anywhere. I must confess I have never seen the gadget for removing corn kernels from the cob! We do get corn on the cob shipped in - it's a bit too cold to grow it commercially here - and I buy frozen kernels already removed from the cob most of the time. I remember visiting relatives who served us fresh corn on the cob, right from the farm, and it was so much better than the "fresh" corn shipped to our supermarkets. Silicone kitchen utensils are very popular, especially with people who use pans with non-stick coatings. They don't scratch the non-stick coatings. The slotted spoon is used to scoop up small amounts of food from boiling water. They come in a couple of sizes - that one looks pretty typical - but they're all used for amounts of food too small for you to bother getting out a colander or sieve. I've got one about that size and one a bit larger and I use them a lot. I think the last one is a large spoon for stirring hot food - like a spatula, but more curved.

About 6 months ago I tried to send my favourite kind of kitchen knife, I guess it didn't make it due to postal thieves.

the slotted spoon is for serving food that is in a liquid but you don't want to also serve up the liquid if that makes sense?

    • @mickeyiael9013

Spot on. Like a can of green beans comes in liquid - we boil them in the liquid with some butter added and use a slotted spoon to drain before placing them on the plate or in the bowl. Ultimately, use each of them however you like as long as it works well for you. I LOVE seeing you get new useful things! 🥰

There are a million reasons why people dislike videos. It's not just "why is this on my feed", sometimes it is ego sensitive people who think a comment they posted should have been hearted and get offended, so they dislike every video afterwards. Others are jealous - they think "why should you get free gifts and not me". I rarely dislike videos but I disliked an official "The Eagles" video today after I heard how severely they copyright block anyone who posts even a snippet of their music, or make a cover. They lose because they no longer have a share in the revenue and the younger people who aren't going to get "the eagles" in their feed will never hear of them through their arrogance
