This was my first DOA.. from this game forward I was obsessed. Got me to buy original Xbox and 360 just for DOA.. All cause of DOA2 Hardcore on PS2. Such great memories. So thankful to this game.
One thing about DOA while it was in the hands of Itagaki, the graphics ALWAYS pushed the boundaries of graphical power on each console it was released on. Some of the techniques they used still hold up well in 4K its fucknng insane!
To get the Kasumi vs Ayane cutscene you have to knock her down the the cliff and knock her across the stage (like the doa2 intro), In DOAU2 it works on both stages (I think DOA2H also)
I remember I was at toys r us and ask one od the workers what fighting game they had beside the popular one's he grab hardcore. It was different but nice this brings back memories
ayo this game looks godlike but. the voice acting in this game for most of the girls was doo doo😂. the girl voicing Ayane wasn't even told that it was "You runaway "shinobi"! " and not "You run away, shinobi!" which is how she says it

Old fighting games are still fun
This is the best old fighting game to go back to along with Soul Calibur, DoA always looked amazing even today.

Correction: the hardcore version released on release day with the PS2. It did first release in 1999 when the Dreamcast released.
The fact that DOA2 has aged better than DOA5 and 6 really shows that the series is in need of an overhaul.

I had Tekken 5 and Virtual Fighter 4, but this was the one I played the most! I couldn't stand the English dub, though. :'v
It's also a shame some of the maps from DOA2 wasn't included in DOA2 Ult
