Amazing season by Fremantle, knocked off the reigning premiers and even in the GF they took it right up to Hawthorn. They never made it back again, shows you how hard it is to win in this league, it is hit or miss.

The Hawthorn vs Geelong Prelim the night before, however, is easily one of the greatest games of all time. Constant momentum swings and lead changes, a high skill level, both teams throwing everything at it, and legacies of teams and players on the line (Geelong dynasty ended, Kennett Curse broken and the doorway to the 3-Peat opened) was what was witnessed in the Hawks vs Cats Prelim and it was well and truly a classic game of football
