- A method which is used to detect a single base change or we can SNP, using sequence-specific primers.
The techniquie has other names like
ARMS... Amplification Refractory Mutation System.
PASA .... PCR Amplification of Specific Allele
AS- PCR ...for Allele-Specific PCR.
In all these acronyms, everytime we are using the word “Allele”...
the reason being is its specific amplification capacity for a specific allele or DNA sequence.
So,
What is ARMS or Allele-Specific PCR?
As we know Alleles are alternative forms of a gene.
When a mutation occurs, it give rise to, two different alleles for a gene;
one type is wild or normal and onother one is mutant.
The Allele-specific PCR has the ability to detect this specific allele.
A very nice explanation of the mutation tracing technique!
Glad it was helpful!
Helpful !! Thank you!
Excellent
Good 👍
Sir please help me understanding difference between tetra arms pcr and arms pcr only.
thank you. Could you tell me wwhich one is the constant primer and which one is the standard primer?
I have created an arms primer; might I perhaps email it for revision?
Is this method used to detect one SNP at a time ?
Yeah
do we proceed with electrophoresis next?
Yeah
