I thought that was a fantastic field and race, some excellent horses! Mishriff was great I'd have loved to see native trail win , but the winner was great and Christoph is a quality jockey and gives a great interview! Well done 👍

There were 2 shocking rides on Saturday, costing me £1000s. The first was Kieron Shoemark on Equilateral, who would have won by 3 lengths had the jockey not did the unthinkable. The same was true of David Egan. By shoving Mishriff into a gap that was far too tight, he lost at least 2.5 to 3 lengths and with half a furlong, got to within a fast diminishing neck of the winner. Only 6 runners, but he had to go there.....more criminal than Dettori on Stradavarious. Poor Gosden must be fuming.....his jockeys have lost him 3 or 4 big races in less than a month.
Mishriff looked unlucky. But, let's get this straight. Wasn't the trouble Mishriff (jockey David Egan) got into very very similar to the trouble Frankie got Stradavarius in in the Ascot Gold Cup ? So is David Egan now in John Gosden's bad books too ?

Didn't think Havlin done anything wrong, one of those things that can happen. 12 days for the error by Christophe is also a bit Draconien. Could the narrow chute the track turns into after the winning post not be altered to prevent trouble like this? Not the first time we've seen coming togethers in the same spot.
Native Trail seemed unable to quicken on the ground. The first four ran a tremendous race. Bay Bridge came up well short. Probably not true group 1 class.
Mishriff would've should've could've!! Well he didn't. Part of winning the race is luck by how the Jockey rode the horse. So give credit where credit's due.

Alky Oisin would have won on Mishriff even after a few, jockey Egan messed up like Fallon last week on Maljoom in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes. Watch that one it's a calamity.
Don't think he's a pure mile and quarter horse with his lightly frame, calm and good turn of foot but soft ground may hamper him though with his action. You can see him still get on the gear after the finish line. Hope to see his true potential in the Arc if the ground is not too soft but connections may not think in the same way.
He is still only 3. His Daddy Churchill was possibly better at 1mile than 1mile2 and Grandad Gallileo. He is better for Irish Champion stakes 1m2f. Sometimes you just see the younger horses getting out quick and the older horses staying at the end. This is they have more muscle obviously. But he isn't best at 1mile4f no way.

I could tell you no one dared to say firm stepping up in trip with the likes of Dancing Brave, STS, Frankel, Golden horn, Falbrav, or even Peintre Celebre and recently Baeed etc. Racing legend should come with enthusiasm to challenge classic races otherwise there wouldn't be legacy on racing.
For a 6-horse field, that was some race. If you look closely at them with 2F to run, the field of six was in the exact reverse order from the finish. Alenquar was leading Bay Bridge, with Lord North 3rd, followed by Native Trail, Mishriff and Vadeni. Mishriff was the unlucky loser. It was like Stradivarius' run in the Gold Cup at Ascot, but worse because he got out much later and was clearly going well enough to win had he escaped the pocket just a bit sooner. I suspect he'll be much shorter odds in the International at York next time out, though that race could be Baaeed's first try beyond a mile. The winner appears to be pointing towards the Irish Champion's Stakes. I'm not so sure he's a likely Arc horse.
@@michaelflynn5123 I tend to agree with you, but it's not hard to make the case that the milers and 10F horses are a cut above the 12F horses currently running in Europe. Someone has to win the Arc, but who? The 3yos, Desert Crown and Westover or perhaps Emily Upjohn, might be good enough. Hurricane Lane was probably the favorite starting this year, but he didn't look good at Ascot. If a horse like Broome, who was beaten by Deep Bond last year in Paris, beaten badly by Bay Birdge this season, is among the leaders of that division, I'd say it's wide open. This might finally be the year that Japan breaks through. Do Deuce and Equinox, 1/2 in the Japan Derby, look capable. Titleholder is a very interesting possibility.

No, David Egan should not be criticized for his ride, these things simply happen, and when you lose when you’re supposed to win people will get emotional and say stupid things (Hopefully not on Television) airing out their dirty laundry in public instead of in private like John Gosden. If Gosden is going to expect jockeys such as Egan to replace a Legend like Dettori then he will be in for a lot more horrible rides than he received just today from Egan. It’s easy to spout off and complain when you are being sent multi-million dollar yearlings from Billionaires and pretend you are a horse whisperer (just like Thady will one day soon) than it is to make it in a foreign country, with a foreign name, and rocket up to the top. Sometimes you dont appreciate what you have until it’s gone, and yet, Frankie showed pure class saying, he appreciated all Gosden does for him and looks forward to future opportunity… Embarrassing ride on Mishriff, the easy winner of the Coral Eclipse today, but the trainer is too stressed out blaming legends. This won’t work well for either Gosden or Dettori, and to just put kids like Egan in further embarrassing situations from lack of having “ice in his veins” as of yet is the fault of Gosden the so called horse whisperer himself and nobody else’s fault it’s on Gosden. Alchohol free then won ascot festival in October,. Group 1 horses whobrace against lesser horses beat them every time
Disappointed in Egan. Mishriff was eating up the ground on Vadeni with every stride and would have easily won. Weird how Gosden is having a career's worth of bad luck in one season. On the bright side, Mishriff is back.
Everyone always talks about these unlucky horses. But next time they dont always win or turn the tables. I think Vadeni had the acceleration when the others didn't. He has turn of foot to get away from other horses. Ok Misriff stayed well just Vadeni was running out of gas there. For me Vadeni is the one to beat at 1m2f this Season as all the others have had their chance to be no. 1 so far. Although you could say why not get Misriff to the front like a Ryan Moore and drag every life out of Vadeni. That would be way more sensible.

They were saying beforehand that Missrif would not be 100% fit. Guarantee in a group 1 there's not much left in the locker to work on. Best horse won in receipt of 10 lbs. Quality race and a lot with close chances. No room for excuses in any group 1. Soumillon is a class rider as Mr Fahey can attest to after winning Royal Ascot.

Interesting interviews, and some funny pronunciations. The race commentator (who is he?) couldn't pronounce Vadeni! Rouget has a grand French accent, and it was amusing to hear his take on Leopardstown. (There are no leopards there; the name came from its history as a leper colony!)
Anyone who backed Bay Bridge, you are a fool. I don’t know how you could back it having any confidence whatsoever. Vadeni was a certainty for me, couldn’t see anything else winning apart from Mishriff if was back to his best and so nearly was! Great performance back from him but a quality ride on Vadeni.

How do you get a world class horse beat in a six horse field? Put a small time jockey on him. MISHRIFF would have won this. Excuse my language, but if I were Mishriffs trainer, I would have pulled the jockey off and beat the h*ll out of him. Yes, I think that he needed this race, but I would put MISHRIFF against any horse in Europe going a mile and a quarter or more, and feel bad for taking your money.

I think I agree. He stayed 10f pretty well. If I was the owner & trainer I'd maybe try the Great Voltigeur at York to see if he gets the 12 furlongs.

What a race and ride, Jockey sat so low on the fav cruising at the back of the field and pulled the horse out at the right time. Mishriff was unlucky.

It was like Stradivarius' run in the Gold Cup at Ascot, but worse because he got out much later and was clearly going well enough to win had he escaped the pocket just a bit sooner. I suspect he'll be much shorter odds in the International at York next time out, though that race could be Baaeed's first try beyond a mile. The winner appears to be pointing towards the Irish Champion's Stakes. I'm not so sure he's a likely Arc horse.

@@michaelflynn5123 I tend to agree with you, but it's not hard to make the case that the milers and 10F horses are a cut above the 12F horses currently running in Europe. Someone has to win the Arc, but who? The 3yos, Desert Crown and Westover or perhaps Emily Upjohn, might be good enough. Hurricane Lane was probably the favorite starting this year, but he didn't look good at Ascot. If a horse like Broome, who was beaten by Deep Bond last year in Paris, beaten badly by Bay Birdge this season, is among the leaders of that division, I'd say it's wide open. This might finally be the year that Japan breaks through. Do Deuce and Equinox, 1/2 in the Japan Derby, look capable. Titleholder is a very interesting possibility.

@@cmrcz7550 I would hardly describe a four-length loss to a horse like Broome, finishing 3rd, "phenomenal", but there's a reason he was the early Arc favorite. He deserves it off his 3yo campaign, and I'm not writing him off yet by any means. Let's see how he fares in the Grand Prix at Saint-Cloud later today.

Dettori has made it look so easy, so many times that it’s a shock when things go wrong.
No, David Egan should not be criticized for his ride, these things simply happen, and when you lose when you’re supposed to win people will get emotional and say stupid things
(Hopefully not on Television) airing out their dirty laundry in public instead of in private like John Gosden.
If Gosden is going to expect jockeys such as Egan to replace a Legend like Dettori then he will be in for a lot more horrible rides than he received just today from Egan.
It’s easy to spout off and complain when you are being sent multi-million dollar yearlings from Billionaires and pretend you are a horse whisperer (just like Thady will one day soon) than it is to make it in a foreign country, with a foreign name, and rocket up to the top.
You have to win your way to the top against all odds.
Gosden fails to comprehend that outside of the U.K he is relatively an unknown name despite training “the big name horses” he’s trained, whereas Dettori is known as the best (or close to the best) in every single country in the world! Globally regarded as a legend, because he’s won magically in those countries , winning G1 races , and plenty of times with the 3rd choice, 4th choice 5th horses choice in the betting.
If Gosden thinks giving the boot to Frankie will get him to win more races he is sadly mistaken, as these baffling rides will become commonplace for Gosden.
Sometimes you dont appreciate what you have until it’s gone, and yet, Frankie showed pure class saying, he appreciated all Gosden does for him and looks forward to future opportunity…
Embarrassing ride on Mishriff, the easy winner of the Coral Eclipse today, but the trainer is too stressed out blaming legends. This won’t work well for either Gosden or Dettori, and to just put kids like Egan in further embarrassing situations from lack of having “ice in his veins” as of yet is the fault of Gosden the so called horse whisperer himself and nobody else’s fault it’s on Gosden.
If hope owners or managers of his horses blast Gosden in national TV for incompetence in selecting proper riders for G1’s

Alchohol free then won ascot festival in October,. Group 1 horses whobrace against lesser horses beat them every time

Disappointed in Egan. Mishriff was eating up the ground on Vadeni with every stride and would have easily won. Weird how Gosden is having a career's worth of bad luck in one season. On the bright side, Mishriff is back.

I think Vadeni had the acceleration when the others didn't. He has turn of foot to get away from other horses.
Ok Misriff stayed well just Vadeni was running out of gas there.
For me Vadeni is the one to beat at 1m2f this Season as all the others have had their chance to be no. 1 so far.
Although you could say why not get Misriff to the front like a Ryan Moore and drag every life out of Vadeni. That would be way more sensible.

They were saying beforehand that Missrif would not be 100% fit. Guarantee in a group 1 there's not much left in the locker to work on. Best horse won in receipt of 10 lbs. Quality race and a lot with close chances. No room for excuses in any group 1. Soumillon is a class rider as Mr Fahey can attest to after winning Royal Ascot.

Interesting interviews, and some funny pronunciations. The race commentator (who is he?) couldn't pronounce Vadeni! Rouget has a grand French accent, and it was amusing to hear his take on Leopardstown. (There are no leopards there; the name came from its history as a leper colony!)
Anyone who backed Bay Bridge, you are a fool. I don’t know how you could back it having any confidence whatsoever. Vadeni was a certainty for me, couldn’t see anything else winning apart from Mishriff if was back to his best and so nearly was! Great performance back from him but a quality ride on Vadeni.
We are all experts after the race I suppose.

Well, Mishriff was the best horse in the race ... it just had a human on board. Egan gave that a terrible ride.
How do you get a world class horse beat in a six horse field? Put a small time jockey on him. MISHRIFF would have won this. Excuse my language, but if I were Mishriffs trainer, I would have pulled the jockey off and beat the h*ll out of him. Yes, I think that he needed this race, but I would put MISHRIFF against any horse in Europe going a mile and a quarter or more, and feel bad for taking your money.

Christophe won the race, excellent jockey. Mishriff the best in the race and would have won by a length or so… got a shocker of a ride. Mishriff also giving them 10lbs! If this was run off level weights mishriff wins by 5!
