I played BF2 for over 10 years. I started with BF demo. I always played with the Gulf of Oman Cobra gaming servers for at least 3 or 4 hours every day. The game was really really enjoyable. Made a lot of friends! My speciality were the TV missiles from attack helis, performing maneurvers with jets and placing mines on bridges and waiting for other players in their vehicles to go boom. Back then BF developers made really good games. The best BF games so Far are BF2, BF3 and 2142BF and BF4. But the multiplayer I enjoyed the most was BF2. It's unbelievable how bad and awful modern battlefield games are.
@@eyehear10 I wish BF developers could do a remake of BF2 with modern graphics. Completely identical but with modern graphics. Modern aircrafts and weapons should also be included but the rest of the game physics, maps must remain accurately the same.

Never touched anything EA since. But the memories remain of a wild time. A time when games were games, fun was expected and the internet was still a refuge. Goddamn every one of the corporate parasites and social engineers who corrupted what was once so good.
Been here since BF1942. Good work, squad! Still the best multiplayer I have played, loading up a buggy with C4 and jihading into tanks. Then later played Project Reality which was also very good. The rank up and team restricted weapons really made this game a fair fight and put so much emphasis on skill and teamwork to win. They really need a small team to remake this game and not ruin it.
All this game needs is just 2 simple mods. One for realistic particles and weather and two more army vehicles like they did in 2042. But even so BF2 always was and will be the Legendary Game that Battlefield made to be.
It's rank related. Changing the config files could get you banned from online servers and you can't play multiplayer anymore. But if you just play offline, you can install mods to play every weapon
The demos were awesome. One level, over and over again, like Fairy Chess. The Classic games with their ragdolls just played better. I ran either a BF2142 or BF2 demo off my cable modem for 5 years up to the end of Gamespy... 2008-2013. Choppergirl's AirWar Wish I could get all the Classic Battlefield games to install on a modern system.. and run. I would have to setup my old rancid AMD X2 3800 systems and an old GeForce 7800 with Windows XP if I wanted to play. If they even still ran, the BIOS battery for sure is dead by now.

If they do, that wold be wild, because I have the whole old series... and a CPU/GPU that now can screen capture at ultra settings. Back in 2008... that was near impossible. FRAPs caught raw footage without compression and ate up disk space like a monster that would make your video editor choke. The extra challenge would be in remembering which patches I had to install in what order.. even back in the day it was tricky to get a working version of the full versions of the games and local servers.

Used to play with the wookie guys quite a lot. Man that brings back so many memories. You guys had unreal snipers. I played for UKA clan at the time. Whenever I need a break from karkand I was on the sniper servers. Amazing memories

Just played it. Laggy as always. Probably plays decent in Europe though. As an American I cant recommend the game to an American.
