I have never been to the old town historic sights because I live at Lake Garda since 2011 and the first time I drive through Brescia I received a big fine for entering the ZTL area. I was following a mini bus and entered without knowing what ZTL meant.I wrote to the Mayor about it but my letter was ignored. After that I kept well away. The Bresciani are not friendly people like the people of southern Italy

Most cities have these systems now. Sorry you had a bad experience but when we were in Brescia everyone was very friendly.
