Toyota GT86 Auto - Genting Hillclimb | YS Khong Driving

  • Thanks to Patrick Ooi, we got the chance to try out an automatic Toyota GT86 up our favourite mountain.
    The road was slightly wet, so we had to 'feel' our way up and down. The drizzle was intermittent too, and the dampness was the same, so we never know what to expect.
    The car has seen some mods, including a set of coil - overs and other bits and pieces including a lowered final drive.
    I guess it's not really about how fast you can drive this car, but more about how much fun you can have driving it.
    So is it better to have an auto or a manual, since I now have driven both?
    Watch it to the end to find out! Enjoy, folks, and thanks Patrick!
    And he must be the coolest co-driver I have had in a while! Thumbs Up!

      Hi, the elevation at the Genting Casino is 1,865m. We climb up to about 1,500m. The climb you see is 8.4km one way. This is one of the best and safest roads around as it is one way, double lane traffic most of the way, and allows one to really put a car through its paces. Thanks for watching, and welcome to our channel.

    Mr.Khong, how do you find driving the GT86? If the car needs to be done in terms of performance (have to be street legal), what would you recommend? Thank you.Your fan from Hyogo, Japan 😉

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Thank you very much for supporting our channel.
      The base car can be very enjoyable even without any modifications. If you are running it in Japan, there are many TRD parts that are street legal, such as stiffer suspension, and other suspension parts available. I believe that many tuning firms can do re-mapping of the engine, and of course you must get a manual.
      To improve handling you and up size your tyres and rims.
      Having said that, keeping it standard on those narrow tyres allows you to break traction easily: this is a fun car for you to learn drifting.
