    In the mid 90's I started developing medical problems. By the late 90's I could no longer work and was placed on full disability. I think this is why I get so much enjoyment from your videos. Just a simple man doing doing honest work. No embellishment, no big text popping out at you on screen like the old batman TV show I watched when I was kid.. No stupid exaggerated incidents. Honest man, honest work. Thank you for sharing.

    Looking great there Andrew, I worked at a limestone mine for 25 yrs. Replaced many of those belt's. Always have someone check under the belt regularly since it has low clearance. When it starts building up with spillage you may have to move crusher a bit to clean underneath it. Then move back.

    @Craneman4100w ปีที่แล้ว +61

    Andrew, you might consider getting a stacker conveyor for the crusher to dump into. You can build a much higher pile and move the conveyor in an arc to make a massive pile. I might also adjust the tracks on the 973 before you end up walking out of one (like you almost did with the crusher at 30:00). Now here is a little tip if you don't already know it. Keep the drives to the rear when turning on uneven ground. If you have to travel with the drives forward, stop and back up to cut. That keeps the bottom of the track tight so you stay in the rollers. When you walk with the drives forward, you are pushing all the slack under the rails which allows the crawler to sag into the low areas and walk out of the track as you cut. One more, A rubber tired loader is more suited for tramming around all that stone. You're just wearing out the undercarrage on the 973 and you know how expensive that can be. Crawlers are for traction and power not distance.

      I'd like to think that Andrew reads this and takes notice. Today's video was more like the old Andrew with none of the hair raising dangerous work practices we have seen too often in recent videos, so I am hoping he is toning it down a bit. I imagine fitting the new conveyer belt cost thousands of dollars, and it was avoidable as the previous owner warned him about using the crusher on soft surfaces. Ignoring that advice saved him some time at the start, but by heck, it cost time and money in the long run. Keep your expert advice coming, and Andrew can chose to benefit from it or risk throwing a track on the loader. etc.

    • @ranze63
      @ranze63 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Crushers should work as workpair. One feeds and another carries gravel away to pile. Then stacker is not so mandatory. That belt ruined unnecessary, it could repair easily when it on place. There is quick way or belt guys melt rubber on site.

    I used to run a full crushing setup with a primary jaw crusher just about identical to this one. A few tips that might help ya, 1. Run the jaw on a pad with a trench underneath the center, that way your fines have someplace to dump. instead of rubbing the belt and filling the tail pulley. When the pit loads up you can pull the machine ahead and make a quick swipe, g2g again. 2. Make sure your wipers and side flashing are in good shape so as to mitigate spillage, belt wear, etc. 3. Always keep an eye that your belt is tracking straight, and that rollers, head and tail pulley are relatively clean. 1 sharp rock that lodges in your tail pulley can tear a belt and ruin your day quick lol. And that v shaped piece of metal you took out is what helps to keep rocks out of your tail pulley. But I digress, and honestly for being new to the crushing game with no experience I'd say ur doing pretty damn good brother.

    Personal experience:To lengthen the lifespan on your belt you should suspend 2 mats in chains, to break the fall of the rocks onto the conveyor belt. The first mat breaks the fall, the 2nd mat stops the rocks from bouncing into the metal housing, and then it falls down, much less impact. and you wear out two 1m longer pieces of belt instead of the whole belt.

    Awesome video brotha. I used to run a jaw crusher for a few years straight and the best word of advice I can give you to avoid the belt breaking prematurely is to CLEAN UNDER THE CRUSHER DAILY! Small rocks & dirt are gonna get down there no matter what you do and WILL touch the bottom side of the belt in time if not maintained.

    As always, another fascinating video! I am a 71 year old woman who enjoys your videos tremendously. I watch them the same day they're posted, because I can't wait to see them. I have watched all of your videos, and not one of them disappoints. Watching the rock crusher do it's job was exciting. I live in NE Illinois we don't have much, if any, shale rock around here. I just love it, and love to watch it separate, and fall apart. I remember a video you had where you found some blue shale. I can't get that out of my mind. If you ever find any more, I would like to buy a small piece of it!! It's so beautiful!! I know you work hard, and it takes time to film and edit these videos, but please keep them coming. My Dad was in the bulk materials handling business since before I was born. He worked for many years for McDowell - Wellman out of Cleveland, who sold unloading systems for ore ships, and later he built a sintering plant in Detroit to make lightweight aggregate for concrete. I'll always remember him complaining when a big conveyor belt would go bad, sometimes catching on fire before someone could shut it down.

      That is not gonna happen Edward. Andrew is only methodical in doing a job for a paying client. He does it correctly.
      On his own property it is half assed. there is NO structure.
      His first task is to plan and prepare the road, taking out trees and roots. grading it to shed water. But NO...Andrew leaves the trees and builds the road AROUND them.
      When the Explosives truck and a professional crew arrived they needed access. Andrew suggested towing an EXPLOSIVES TRUCK THROUGH TREES and a steep slope. That is a level of incompetence beyond stupid.
      Fortunately, if Andrew wanted the job done, he had to do it properly and he cleared the trees around the road and the explosives truck made it to site.
      Calling it bad driving and unable to engage 4 wheel drive was indicative of where Andrews mind is....and it does not include harsh reality.

    Using basically a giant zipper to tie the two ends of the belt together is really cool looking.
    Bit different from how the belts on our Keestrack Frontier were redone. They brought in this machine that looked like a giant laminator that they stuck both ends of the belt into, and it heated up the rubber or something like that, basically welding the two ends together seamlessly.
    I don't know exactly how it worked, but the result was that you pretty much couldn't tell where the joint was afterwards.
    I think I like this approach more though, with it being possible to remove the pin and easily unhook the belt for maintenance purposes.
    That's awesome.
