    I have a T31, was just thinking of putting a roof top tent on it. The 100kg roof rack limit got me worried but i think that only counts when you're driving not standing still. Luckily mine is a manual so i dont have any of the cvt issues. Thanks for posting this. Really inspiring to go adventuring with mine. Previous owner already raised the suspension a couple of inches and put under body guards.

      Cheers mate !! ah, you won't have any dramas with the rooftop tent whats so ever I am sure. Had it on the roof for more than 3 months and driven more than 10k km!! have fun out there!!

    Great video, very inspiring! I just bought myself a Nissan xtrail 2005 and I was wondering what brand and model roofrack and roofrack platform you have. I am still figuring out the weight limits, but I am almost sure I am going to buy a Kings rooftop tent. Just not sure yet which size and weight for roofracks- and platforms are suitable.

    • @campingmates
      @campingmates  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Kings one is the one of the lightest and cheapest out there, not my personal choice but they work I guess. Make sure to dry them after wet use since canvas is notoriously getting mouldy. I had a rhino rack cross bar mounting system. Which you can find on the rhino rack web page or there is multiple manufacturers making cross bars suitable for the xtrail. Double check the weight limit but T31/2012 was rated for 100kg weight carrying capacity on the roof. Hope this will help :)

    Great vlog. i am looking at a very similar setup with a new x-trail. Where did you put the 2nd battery? How do you get at the spare tyre should it be needed? Keep up the good stuff. Cheers

    • @campingmates
      @campingmates  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey mate, the drawer system is custom so on the driver rear just behind the passenger seats where the 100ah lithium lives. Spare is a good question, its a compromise however me and my missus can take everything out under 30mins realistically. So it won’t be a quick change but can doable!!

    how have you got your water pump and tank setup and 12v battery Location and setup please

    • @campingmates
      @campingmates  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate, battery sits behind the drawer system on right side if I remember correctly, pump from Amazon, just a diagram water pump and tank from “outback equipment” website I believe. 44L tank

    Hey mate, love your videos. I’m thinking about getting a roof top tent for my x trail but not sure if it would fit with my awning. Just wondering how you got yours to fit with a full awning aswell

    • @campingmates
      @campingmates  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate !! Thanks for the feedback, my tent was 23zero 1400 I believe, so it was easy to accommodate with the awning but the catch is you have to put tent up, then the awning and when you packing, first awning out and then the tent :)

    Great looking rig! How have you mounted your spot lights? And how is your roof tent mounted? Thanks

    • @campingmates
      @campingmates  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spot lights was on a custom mount that I created with rhino rack spot lights mounts and its bolted in to the crash bar behind the grill using 2 bolts each. 2 rhino rack roof-bars just normal. Any roof bar would do the trick I guess.

      Ha ha ha !! Yes T31 is pretty good in my opinion, the only drawback as far as it the droning of the cvt, can get little louder when you doing 110 but other than that very nice. Unfortunately not with me anymore. Paj sold about 10 months ago :(

    Nice stuff man! Just picked up my T31 this morning. Catching the ferry to Straddie first thing tomorrow morning! Do you have plans for suspension and tyres? I’ve been thinking king springs and and slightly bigger tyres for sand myself.

    • @campingmates
      @campingmates  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You got the CVT ?

    • @rossanthony7573
      @rossanthony7573 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@campingmates yup, similar to yours I think. Manual would have been nice but the higher specked modes only seem to have come in CVT. Mines been well looked after, low kms. I’ll have the all the transmission fluids flushed when it goes in for tyres.

    • @campingmates
      @campingmates  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rossanthony7573 Thats sounds amazing !! My car was absolutly amazing and loved it to bits !! Unfortunatly I sold it today as we speak. had 226000 kms (I put 50k)on it and I think going to the sand was the problem. since it transmission overheated few times and didint really like it , So i suspect transmission was cooked since its gone to limp mode few times.
      interms of weels and tyres I would keep thinghs to the minimum with the CVT so probably nothing too crazy. However as it is its really nice touring car !! we done 14days trip to Carins last December which was amazing !! enjoy the new car !! IT WILL TAKE YOU to PLACES. how do you access your spare tyre?

    • @campingmates
      @campingmates  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s very tricky would take few minutes and remove all the drawers and finally taking the entire thing out to access the wheel, and its light weight. If benefits outweigh the drawbacks I could live with it. Btw when you change your tyre last time ?
